C9 Worries

Before the oncoming of a hailstorm, the winds swirl in gusts of ice-cold air.

Something was going to happen.

A month had passed since Karma and Alistair fell intothe habit of being a profitable source for one another. But the cold air they carried around each other did absolutely nothing but flair the rumors going around.

Karma itched to understand him and Alistair in secrecy wanted to have her complete trust.

The masculine King and the doe-eyed beauty were definitely fucking behind the closed doors was taken from the way Alistair was always hovering over Karma, looking after her was proof enough but alas... the champion fighter paid little heed to such baseless talks. Karma was his support and thus he extended his protection to her.

But looking back a past few days the girl was acting weird.... vicious, angry, and filled with hatred.

Alistair wanted to punch himself. It pained him to see her spending her golden days of life living with such hardships and it shouldn't.

Why must he care that at the age where girls were spending money on clothes and shoes, living the innocent joyous life, Karma had to grow up acting poised and determined?

Why must he pay heed that she had it all but he never saw her genuinely smiling with mirth, that she lived in sorrow and self-loathing?

Why must his stone heart clench when dark circles lined her beautiful eyes with working late night when girls same age as her were weaving fantasies in their soft cocoon beds?

Alistair had been growing worried about how atrocious her mood was nowadays. She skipped lunches to study files and went home as late as 3 in the morning again showing up early at 7. She wasn't living at all.

But after digging some dirt, the worry disappeared and the place was filled with absolute fury.

Photos and portfolios of a hooded man were scattered all over Alistair's desk, he clicked his tongue experiencing faint disappointment. Karma was so interested in such a lowly grade man-whore and Alistair couldn't help the darkening of his zirconium eyes. What did she want with this man who was a regular customer of brothels?

His face couldn't be seen clearly, most of the time a pair of electric blue eyes were the only thing that was staring into nothingness.

Alistair could have understood if the man whom Karma wanted to exploit was Cassius himself but his son... Why? Moreover how the hell such a girl came across the son of a drug lord?

"Mr. Alessandro, this man is very well protected and has been lying low since he was 19. It has been three years since he started living in his father's house but none have ever seen him. The guards refuse to tell anything about him.

Only women can be seen entering his house-"

"And I thought this was something I had specifically asked for so it's a surprise that you didn't call or inform me that you havegot important information."

Red heels clicked against the pavement, power and aristocratic pride dripping from Karma's predicament.

She twirled the pearl necklace in her hand once before setting it down the glass table of Alistair.

They were digging deeper into the blood-soiled land of the nation, asking for answers but answers for what? What questions did Karma even have? What deep enmity...

Alistair eyed her intensely, his palm motioning her towards himself.

Come to me

Karma found her feet bound with invisible threads making her move towards Alistair whose form was tight like glacier frost.

"Do you have anything else which is worthy of our time?" Alistair urged the detective who took a deep breath before exhaling.

"Ma'am... Sir, the file has everything and I would request you to read it. I am... "The detective watched the Alistair cautiously.

"I am afraid.... this is some deep black hole of destruction. Your work has been done to the extent I promised but I can't go any further." He told Karma.

The man whose legs were trembling sprinted out of the office as soon as he could. Never again....he was never working for Karma. She didn't even try saving him as he was almost caught by the people she sent him to spy against.

It was Alistair who dragged him out of the hell hole or Gods forbid he would have been tortured to death.

A fist banged against the desk making the glass crack under the vigorous force exerted. Karma jumped back,wide-eyed only for Alistair to pull her back towards himself with furious eyes.

His blood was boiling as he stood towering over the girl reaching just his chest.

"Cassius' son? You wanted information on one person whom the law enforcement is protecting with their lives? Are you fucking crazy?! Sending a detective after them..... “Alistair’s arms held Karma's shoulder shaking her softly while she looked at him without blinking.

"Stupid little girl! If I didn't pull out your detective, Cassius would have reached him and after torturing him... he would have reached you." His chest heaved in anger as he took in Karma glaring at him.

"You are just an ally, not my father! Let me do whatever the hell I like." She fumed.

(A/n: he is her Daddy. 🤭)

"Karma gambling your own life like this is insane. You want information? I will give you whatever the fuck you want! You have become my responsibility the moment we had that deal and I don't fucking ever want the repeat of this."

A soft chuckle filled with nothing but irony resonated throughout.

"Oh Alistair....there will be repeats of this, not once not twice but till the time I have those measly pawns in the palm of my hand. Till I slaughter all of them, I will always send a reminder that they are not safe....that someone is threatening their empire made on the skulls of innocents."

"We don't kill the people who work for us... Who are fucking loyal to us. There is a thin line between hatred and psychotic pleasure and I think your thoughts have blurred beyond them."

She listened to him. Her raged cerulean irises watched the photos scattered. She picked one up smiling sinisterly.

"Such beautiful eyes, deep blue like sea...every night I have dreamed to drown him in the deepest seas, holding his head inside till he can't breathe...I want to see him struggling.....just like she did when he drowned her.

You say I harm the people loyal to me....maybe Alistair, maybe I do.I was a child...a child who committed grave mistakes and for me...for me, my well-wisher had to pay."

A tear escaped her eye as a whimper left her lips and Alistair's heart broke. How could he say such words to her?

Alistair's palm reached out clasping her cheek tenderly, his thumb wiping the tears following closely behind. Karma pressed herself to his warmth, unintentionally moving her cheek closer for him to hold.

"I... I want to break off this deal. I am on the path where I will be destroyed completely sooner or later. Do something for me, Alistair... Leave me alone... I want to be just left alone."

She didn't give him a chance to protest, running out of the door.

"Karma!" Alistair felt distressed... A path of destruction, such words were dirty and leaving her lips it made his mind numb... What was she doing?

It wasn't a professional grudge but something that broke her altogether and his fists clenched hard as he realized... She was standing strong because she had anger fueling her heart mind and body but what if she once took her revenge.

She had rebuilt her world on the foundations of chaos and once the chaos ends... She won't be herself anymore the person, the girl with dreams inside would be totally dead in the process.

His hasty footsteps stopped the moment he saw her car leaving the driveway to her home.

He had once despised her arrogance, disliked how she acted like she was strong to withstand any storm but right at the moment he felt angry at the world. Ofcourse, the little girl could control the thunder on her fingertips...she had lived with the sorrow and that was the place she derived her courage, strength, and power.

He felt numb.

Not anymore.

The physical pain in his chest intensified. If she was someone else he would have felt pity but no she was Karma and he felt agony in his veins.

He looked up at the darkened skies.

Why her?

Give her pain to me.

Not her.....never her. He could not see her breaking down like that because he felt for her. Since the second those cyan eyes looked up they were a part of him...his present and future.

Despite the world weighing down, Alistair was calm, as if not a single thing could touch his armor of protection around Karma.

"Sir.....sir where would you like to go?" His driver looked at the man standing infront of his own car lost in his thoughts like he couldn't tell that this place was owned by himself.

"Take me to Karma."

The driver nodded without any delay, opening the door quickly.

The black Ferrari left Arkalos as pure spherical pearls dribbled down the thundering grey clouds. The lightning stroke furiously as the driver rushed the car through the traffic lightened by thousands of glimmering lights in the soft rain.

Stop here.

Alistair watched the board shining with never dimming lights displaying the word "Gracious" in bold italics. He opened the door not minding the rain moving towards the restaurant.

The bells jingled at the door as his muscular frame entered drawing the attention of everyone almost at the same moment but the man was so lost in the world of the cyan eyes tigress that he couldn't care less about those longing gazes.

The only one he would praise at the moment was her eyes meeting his eyesight.

"Sir, how can I help you?" The young boy asked.

"I want a parcel of Chinese noodles, chocolate cake, Italian pasta with extra cheese, a double-layered pizza, strawberry icecream, burger...... "

The boy eyed the never stopping list of the man... looks like he was going to buy everything in here.

********

A knock resonated throughout the well-furnished villa of Karma.

She could have tens of workers and maids but preferred just two who were never nosy and minded their own business but nobody was present at the moment prompting her to open the door quickly in surprise after watching Alistair standing out in rain with his driver trying his best to reach his height putting an umbrella.

"Alistair?" The puffy-eyed girl asked in a dilemma.

"Let's have a talk... Shall we?"
