C207 Trouble
“Brother Fei, someone is following us,” Zhao Kui said.
Hearing his words, I glanced back and saw Malan’s BMW 760. I replied, “Ignore her. If she wants to follow, let her.”
Zhao Kui hesitated for a moment but soon sped up, leaving Malan far behind. Just then, my phone rang. Seeing her name on the screen, I hung up immediately. If she has a temper, so do I.
Suddenly, Malan’s car roared to life, accelerating furiously and cutting us off by stopping abruptly in our path. Zhao Kui slammed on the brakes, and the force of inertia sent us all forward. I hit my head on the seat and felt a dull pain.
“Damn lunatic…” I cursed under my breath, stepping out of the car. Malan also exited hers, her expression fierce. The two vehicles were barely a meter apart—if not for Zhao Kui’s quick reflexes, we would have collided.
“Are you crazy?” I demanded angrily.
She walked over, grabbed my hand, and silenced Zhao Kui and Wang Gui with a single glare. They reluctantly stepped back—after all, this was Malan. She pulled me into her car, locked the doors, and looked me straight in the eyes. “Explain yourself. What’s this all about?”
“Didn’t I make myself clear? The goods were stolen by someone your sister sent, then sold to Chen Xi. Just now, I saw that bastard selling them. What could I do? Nothing but watch. I’ve had enough. Take the goods; I don’t want them. From now on, we’re done. Don’t come looking for me—I can’t afford to get involved with you or your sister anymore.”
As I finished, I reached for the door, but it was locked. She stared at me, and before I could react, she lunged forward, wrapping her arms tightly around me, pressing her lips against mine. I tried to resist, but she grabbed my hands and placed them around her.
After a while, she let go, straddling me, her eyes searching mine. “Does this feel real?”
I nodded. “It does. But so what?”
I didn’t want to argue further.
Her domineering tone softened, carrying a hint of pleading. She was scared—scared I would leave her. Maybe I had gone too far this time, but I didn’t regret it.
Her expression twisted with pain. “Do I really have to apologize? Is that what you want? For me to bow my head, to throw away all my dignity?”
This was the first time I’d seen her show such vulnerability, such raw emotion. She knew she was wrong, and I should’ve considered her pride.
I pulled her close, kissing her passionately. We used that kiss to forgive each other’s faults. I had my own—quarreling with a woman, acting childishly when I should’ve been more mature.
But then I tightened my grip around her waist, holding her firmly. She gazed at me, her seductive eyes still lingering on mine, gasping slightly.
“We both made mistakes,” I said. “Let’s forgive each other and grow from this. I hope there won’t be misunderstandings like this again.”
“I’ll tear her mouth apart, make her understand what I’m capable of,” Malan said seriously.
I frowned, shaking my head. “She’s your sister…”
“And you’re my man,” she said firmly.
Those words ignited something in me. At that moment, I finally understood who had been standing by me all along. Malan—only Malan. Not even Qian Guang would do that. He only cared about his own interests, all his previous words meaningless.
Malan ran her fingers through my hair. “Tell me you have a plan for revenge. Tell me, and I’ll do anything for you.”
I nodded. After everything, I trusted her more. Adversity reveals truths and shows who’s genuinely on your side.
“Your sister planted Sang Ling to spy on you,” I said.
“That bitch. I knew she wasn’t trustworthy. I’ll kill her,” Malan replied coldly.
She wasn’t emotional or agitated but unnervingly calm. I understood what that meant—Sang Ling’s days were numbered.
“I want to use her tactics against her. Your sister planted Sang Ling to spy on me; I’ll send Sang Ling back to spy on her,” I explained.
“I don’t trust her, and I hope you won’t let that bitch fool you twice. Tell me where she is—I’ll finish her,” Malan said calmly.
“Will you listen to me?”
“Yes,” she replied.
“Then stop wasting time. Be mature. Let’s get our money back first. Once we do, you can deal with her however you want. But be mature about it.”
“Fine,” she said, adjusting her posture and lighting a cigarette.
A moment later, I coughed. “Don’t smoke so much. You’re still recovering.”
She looked at me, then tossed the cigarette out of the car. I was surprised—she was listening to me now. I sighed in relief. Perhaps she wasn’t so untamable after all.
“This whole mess started because of jade gambling,” I said. “So, let’s end it with jade gambling. Your father, your sister, Qian Guang, Chen Xi—they’re all going to be sheep for us to shear.”
“Qian Guang? Are you sure?” Malan asked.
“He owes me,” I replied.
She took a deep breath, her gaze sharp. “Qian Guang is dangerous. He’s ambitious. Don’t provoke him too much.”
I said nothing. My heart was cold toward Qian Guang. For the sake of his plans, for a woman, he’d abandoned me. He told me to endure—eighty million yuan…
I couldn’t endure it.
“Come to my place tonight,” Malan said, her eyes fixed on me.
I smiled, rolling down the window. “Zhao Kui, Wang Gui, you guys head back. Deliver the goods to the Jade City tomorrow. I’ve got some personal business with Miss Ma.”
Before I could finish, Malan floored the accelerator, heading straight for the luxury villa district on Dexing Avenue.
When we arrived, Malan got out, opened the gate, and led me inside. As soon as we stepped in, she wrapped herself around me, kissing me feverishly.
I didn’t hesitate, carrying her to the living room. Her new villa was a place I hadn’t even had time to admire before its owner and I dove into a passionate embrace.
In the living room, she pressed a button, filling the space with soft music. She let everything go—clothes, dignity, restraint. She wanted only me.
I released all my anger, frustration, and grievances, surrendering to her. Together, we plunged into madness.
As the night deepened, I reclined on the sofa, listening to the song “Who Resonates.” It perfectly captured my current emotions. In this world, who could truly resonate with me? Stroking Malan’s smooth back, I realized she was the only one.
If Malan weren’t so sharp-edged, so temperamental, so spoiled, she might’ve been the perfect woman. But without those flaws, she wouldn’t be Malan.
The moonlight bathed her back, a rare sight—such beauty in a bald-headed woman. Her allure wasn’t ordinary; not everyone could appreciate it.
The tranquility of the night was shattered by my ringing phone. It was Wang Gui. I answered.
“Brother Fei, Zhao Kui’s been captured…”
His words tightened my chest. Zhao Kui, captured?
“When did this happen?” I asked.
“Just now. We had just arrived at the bar when a car rammed us. A group of men jumped out, attacking us. Luckily, it was near home, so our guys came to help. But Zhao Kui… he didn’t recover from the crash. They beat him and dragged him into their car,” Wang Gui said bitterly.
“Do you know who did it?”
“No. But if it’s not that bastard Chen Xi, who else could it be?”
I paced back and forth, my mind racing. “Wait for me…”
I hung up and turned to Malan. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
Ignoring her, I called Qian Guang. When he answered, I said, “Brother Guang, Chen Xi has taken my man…”
Zhao Kui wasn’t just my right-hand man; he was my brother. He’d saved my life countless times. No matter who the opponent was, I had to get him back.
“I understand…”
Those three words chilled me to the core. Understand? What does that mean?
