C1 The Mystery of Life

Billions of years ago, the universe had collapsed, forming a vast galaxy. Since then, there have been countless living spheres in this infinite space. And Xuanwu Continent was only the weakest of them all.

Xuanwu Continent were divided into five great regions, namely Eastern Profound Domain, Southern Profound Domain, Western Profound Region, Northern Profound Region, and Central Profound Region. The starting point of this story happened in Southern Profound Domain which had relatively few resources, and was commonly known as the Land of the Southern Barbarians.

At the southernmost end of the Southern Barbaric Land was an unending mountain range, and within the great mountain range was a great canyon that was hundreds of miles deep. On both sides of the canyon were cliffs and cliffs, towering into the clouds. Exactly how high they were, no one knew.

At the end of the Grand Canyon was a boundless sea of clouds. Within the sea of clouds, one could vaguely see a main peak that pierced through the clouds. Under the illumination of the sunlight, the fog surrounding the main peak gradually dispersed. In the dim light, one could see a cave covered in moss.

This cave was extremely concealed, and there were not many signs of activity. However, at this moment, there was a youngster wearing coarse hemp clothes kneeling at the entrance of the cave.

He was around fourteen or fifteen years old. His face was a bit green, but his appearance was very handsome. His exquisite facial features could be said to be perfect. His black, obsidian eyes were both deep and bright, as if they could see through all demons and ghosts.

This youth was called Gao Feng, he was an orphan without a name and surname, it was his master who adopted him. His master was a martial arts master who had spent his entire life pursuing the true meaning of martial arts. In the end, he had met with an accident and was paralyzed on the bed. His Master wanted him to inherit his legacy, climb to the peak of martial arts, and look down on the world.

Gao Feng knelt at the entrance of the cave and looked at the package and the rusty ancient sword in front of him. His travel worn face was filled with suspicion as he asked with a head full of fog, "Master, do you not want your disciple anymore?"

"Ai!" A slightly aged voice came from the cave, "Feng, it's not that I don't want you, but you're not a fish in a pond. You should go down the mountain and find your lucky chance."

Hearing this heavy sigh, Gao Feng finally understood what his master meant. He was looking down on himself for being trash. He knelt and said: "Master, I understand, sigh …"

His voice was extremely soft, but it was heard by the white-haired old man in the cave. He comforted: "Feng, don't let your thoughts run wild, you are the most gifted person I have ever seen, you awakened your Martial Soul at the age of eight and reached the first stage of Martial Cultivator. Logically speaking, after seven years, you should have at least broken through to the warrior realm, but... "But you're still standing there."

Xuanwu Continent cultivation level: Martial Cultivator, Warrior, Martial Master, Martial Ancestor, Martial King, Martial Emperor, Martial Immortal, Martial God, Martial Saint.

Each rank had Ninth Grade. After reaching the Venerable One, they were separated into different ranks according to the color of their essence, which were red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, cyan, blue, and purple.

However, due to the lack of Xuanwu Continent resources, a majority of Martial Stylite s would stagnate when they reach there. Martial Immortal Stage were extremely rare, and Martial God Stage were even rarer, but Martial Sovereign Stage only exist in legends.

Gao Feng had bitterly cultivated for seven years and had not shown any signs of breaking through to the First Rank in these seven years. How could he endure favors?!

Although the Martial Stylite had a longer lifespan than ordinary people, that lifespan was determined by the cultivation of humans. In the Martial Cultivator Realm, every stage of cultivation would increase the lifespan by ten years, in the Warrior Realm, every stage would increase the lifespan by twenty years, which was to say, every additional stage would increase the lifespan by ten more years, and so on.

Of course, this rule wasn't set in stone. If one had not broken through to the Martial Immortal Stage before the age of a hundred, their lifespan would be shortened by ten years every year. In other words, the earlier one broke through to the Martial Immortal Stage, the better.

After reaching the Martial Immortal Stage, regardless of whether it was the Homo Clan or the other races, they remained as they were for a very long time. For example, breaking through Martial Immortal Stage at the age of thirty, would allow him to maintain his appearance of thirty for a few thousand years; even if there was any change, it would be extremely minor.

According to this rule, not to mention reaching Martial Immortal Stage before the age of a hundred, even reaching the Martial Ancestor Realm would be a huge problem for Gao Feng.

There were no shortcuts in the path of martial cultivation. Talent also depended on luck. Both were indispensable. Moreover, he had neither talent nor luck. He knew very well just how high he would be able to reach — he no longer had any extravagant hopes for his own path of martial arts.

Gao Feng kneeled and said, "Master, I understand, but I still have a request."

"Go ahead." Another voice came from the cave.

"Master, your disciple wishes to know his background." Gao Feng asked respectfully. This question had puzzled him for more than ten years. He wanted to ask it several times, but he couldn't bring himself to ask it. If he didn't want to leave this place soon, he wouldn't be able to.

"It's not that I haven't investigated your background, but that I am truly powerless against you. You also know that when you were 8 years old, I was paralyzed in bed due to Qi deviation. Later on, I also sent a message to my friends asking about your background, but the response was that all the famous righteous sects did not have any news of a baby missing, so normal people would not be able to give birth to a talented person like you … "Genius."

After saying that, the voice paused for a moment. He originally wanted to say that he was a genius, but upon thinking that Gao Feng was only a first stage Martial Cultivator and was only fifteen years old, he said that he was a genius.

Did he pop out from a crack in the rock? Gao Feng frowned.

After a few breaths of time, the voice sounded again, "Fifteen years ago, in this season, Master was hunted down by a few experts of the evil way and suffered a serious internal injury. After escaping from the evil way with great difficulty, I found you in the forest outside the great valley. You weren't lying on the ground, you were lying on the treetop a thousand meters high. At that time, I was severely injured and I couldn't fly on the sword. If you didn't cry, I wouldn't have been able to notice you.

"The crown of the tree is not lush and should not be able to bear your weight, but you did not bend the branch or even fold the leaf. Furthermore, Master also discovered that there was a strange phenomenon. A faint purple color emerged around your body, which was the exact same color as the purple color emitted by the Purple Sovereign King Stage King from the legends. Therefore, I judge you to be a talented person based on the faint layer of purple on your body.

"But since then, Master has never seen that kind of faint purple color on you again. I also don't know if this phenomenon has anything to do with your background.

"However, at that time you had a jade pendant on your body. I have never seen that material before. It's kind of like jade but not like jade. It is not that I am ignorant and ill-informed, but many of Master's friends have seen it before, and could not recognize what kind of material it is.

"This is a mystery. Only by finding this material will you be able to solve the mystery of your life."
