Mothers

“Carolin.” Rebekka’s mother approached Carolin with her arms open wide, smiling happily. “I already heard.”

Carolin let herself be hugged. “It’s not definite yet,” she said. “I’m still waiting for the results.”

“You’re young and healthy,” said Angelika Gellert. “What could go wrong?”

“Mother . . .” Rebekka gave her a chastising look.
