“Come on, eat something. I feel funny eating alone.” Marlene looked invitingly at Carmen. “Croissants and cappuccino – all women like that.”

Carmen took a sip. “The cappuccino’s cold,” she said.

“Well, yeah, I had to bring it here from the café, I don’t have one of those funny little machines.” Marlene shrugged.

Carmen smiled a little. “Nice of you, though,” she said
