“Professor Wilke? There’s a call for you.” Teresa poked her head around the door.

Silvia looked up, annoyed. “I said I didn’t want to be disturbed.”

“I know,” said Teresa, “but it’s about . . . Ms. Hoffmann.”

Silvia froze. “What . . .?” She cleared her throat and swallowed. “Put it through,” she said.

“Ma’am . . . Madam Professor . . . I think you’d better come home
