C19 Put It on My Chest
As soon as Jiang Nuan heard the door open, her first instinct wasn't to worry about changing clothes but to quickly hang up on Big White. In her panic, she accidentally tossed the phone away.
Jee Cheng'an stood at the doorway, raising an eyebrow and shrugging. "Sorry, I knocked, but you didn't answer. I was worried you might still be feeling rough from last night, so I let myself in." He smirked mischievously. "Remember to zip up your pants when you come down for breakfast."
Hearing his words, Jiang Nuan glanced down, her face instantly turning crimson. She quickly turned around and shut the door firmly. Only after hearing the soft click of the door closing did she breathe a sigh of relief. She picked up her phone from the floor and decided to text Big White, saying she'd explain everything once she got to the dojo.
But Big White called right back.
"Nuan, are you out of your mind? It's the weekend, you know? The weekend!" Big White's voice was a mix of frustration and disbelief.
"Huh?" Jiang Nuan was momentarily confused, then it hit her. "Oh, right, it's the weekend. I don't have classes. I've just been so busy lately, I forgot."
"Never mind, with your memory, you'd forget your own head if it wasn't attached. Anyway, just ignore that little troublemaker Lee Xiao. Let her do her own thing." Big White's tone suddenly shifted. "By the way, do you really have a boyfriend who drives a Maserati?"
“...After hearing that, Jiang Nuan thought it over and figured Lee Xiao was probably talking about Jee Cheng'an. But yesterday, when Jee Cheng'an drove her to work, it didn’t seem like he was in a Maserati. With that in mind, she confidently replied, ‘No, I don't know anyone who drives a Maserati!’
‘I knew it, that little troublemaker!’
The two chatted for a bit longer before hanging up. Jiang Nuan put away her phone with a sigh, only to turn around and bump into a solid wall of muscle.
‘I did drive a Maserati yesterday,’ Jee Cheng'an's voice came from above.
‘Ouch...’ Jiang Nuan thought his chest was harder than a wall and couldn’t focus on what he said. As she winced, a pair of warm hands gently touched her forehead.
‘Does it still hurt?’ Jee Cheng'an asked softly while massaging her head.
Hearing this, Jiang Nuan tensed up again. She wasn’t ready to face Jee Cheng'an yet. What should she say now? Should she bring up last night’s events? If she did, would he twist things around on her? What if he expected her to take responsibility?
‘What are you thinking about?’ Jee Cheng'an asked again after getting no response from Jiang Nuan. He wasn’t trying to break the silence; he just knew exactly what was on her mind and couldn’t resist teasing her a bit.”
“Uh... uh... it's nothing...” Jiang Nuan was startled by his raised voice and quickly waved her hands to show her innocence.
But Jee Cheng'an was busy ruffling her hair, and as Jiang Nuan lifted her hand, it froze mid-air. Why... was her hand on his... chest...
Awkward...
Both Jiang Nuan and Jee Cheng'an were stiff.
“Once you're done freshening up, come down for breakfast.” Jee Cheng'an finally broke the silence, stuffing his hands into his pockets before opening the door and walking out.
Watching him disappear through the door, Jiang Nuan looked at her hands in frustration, then clenched them into tight fists.
