C22 Romantic Dinner
Before Edwin Carter started the car, he lifted his hand to gently stroke the corner of his lips. A faint smile appeared in his cold eyes. Jane Ronan looked just like she did three years ago.
The car rolled slowly out of the parking lot and quickly merged into the noisy traffic of the city. However, the interior of the car was so quiet that even the breathing of the two of them seemed a little loud.
Jane Ronan sat upright and looked out of the window. She didn't dare to look Edwin Carter in the eye, but she couldn't help but secretly look at him.
He was very serious as he drove, looking straight ahead, as if what had just happened had never happened.
Jane Ronan's mouth twitched as she thought in her heart — An aloof man!
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a skyscraper.
Edwin Carter threw the car keys to the staff member and walked into the hall with Jane Ronan.
The skyscraper was 69 stories tall, and it was the tallest building in Asia. It was also the landmark of Longahe for many years.
The skyscraper was located in the most prosperous business center of Longahe City, it had many people and many tall buildings, especially on the top floor of the skyscraper where the sightseeing restaurant would be even more famous.
Many visitors from other places would come in for tickets, sit quietly and enjoy a cup of coffee while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Fragrant River City, which was separated by the Longahe River.
When Jane Ronan first came to the Longahe, she had come with Laura before. Just the entrance fee to this building was eighty yuan, and there was no need to mention the price of the dishes in the viewing district.
However, even though it was expensive, there was still an endless stream of customers coming and going every day, as if it had never stopped.
Today, it was still not eight o'clock in the evening. Jane Ronan was surprised, but when she waited for the elevator, she saw no one else.
Just as Jane Ronan was thinking this, her hand was once again held by the warm big hand. Edwin Carter took her hand and led her to the VIP staircase, then they headed straight to the 69th floor.
His hand was really warm, or perhaps Jane Ronan's hand was really cold. When he held her hand like this, Jane Ronan really loved the warmth he gave her.
She looked up at him and smiled: "Edwin Carter, you're inviting me here for dinner?"
He stood very straight, facing the elevator door, and just as Jane Ronan thought he wouldn't answer, she heard him say, "Yes."
It was just a simple "En", but Jane Ronan felt it was enough. He spoke very little, and she didn't know it until today.
Not long after, the elevator arrived at the 69th floor. The place which used to be packed with people was now very quiet. Other than the staff members, no one else could be seen.
The LOVE restaurant was surrounded by roses of all colors. In the middle of the room, there was a table, and on the table, the roses were arranged in the shape of a heart.
"Mr. Carter, Mrs. Carter, this way please!" The beautiful waitress came up to welcome them, saying some polite words, but she didn't even look at Jane Ronan.
The waiter's gaze almost fell on Edwin Carter, as if he didn't care that Jane Ronan was with Edwin Carter.
Jane Ronan thought to herself, 'A woman's looks are a disaster. This man is a monster!' When this woman looked at the handsome man, her gaze was even simpler and more rough than a man's when he looked at a beautiful woman.
Edwin Carter suddenly stopped and looked at the waitress coldly: "Tell your manager to come over."
The waitress smiled: "Mr. Carter, I'm the manager of this restaurant."
Edwin Carter's brows twitched as he said gloomily, "It's time to change the person in charge of this restaurant."
The female staff member's smile instantly turned into one that didn't know whether to laugh or cry. However, her professionalism made her force out a smile and say: "Mr. Carter, Mrs. Carter's side, please. I'll get the other staff members to come over."
After they sat down, Jane Ronan couldn't hold back her laughter.
Edwin Carter looked at her strangely: "What's so funny?"
Jane Ronan forced herself not to laugh and looked up at him. "Do you always treat women that way?"
"You like me?" Edwin Carter raised his eyebrows and said straightforwardly, "I don't like her."
The female attendant from before had a really good figure. Ordinary men wouldn't reject her so easily.
Perhaps it was the first time that the woman had been rejected in such an obvious manner, which was why her expression turned so unsightly in that instant.
Jane Ronan suddenly thought of what Laura had said and couldn't help but take a glance at Edwin Carter. Normal men couldn't bear to refuse a beauty; could it be that Edwin Carter really didn't like women?
Thinking of this, the way Jane Ronan looked at Edwin Carter seemed to be quite curious.
If he really didn't like women, was that good or bad for her?
A melodious music played. It was a song that Jane Ronan was very familiar with and liked very much. It was your fragrance.
Listening to her, Jane Ronan couldn't help but start humming along. Her eyebrows shot up, and her eyes were clear and sparkling. She looked just like a fairy.
Jane Ronan snorted and felt an unusually gentle gaze. When she looked up, she saw Edwin Carter looking at her quietly.
She smiled at him. "It's one of my favorite songs."
Edwin Carter signaled the waiter to pour them some red wine and lightly raised his glass. "Do you want some?"
Jane Ronan glanced at Lafite in 82. This kind of wine was extremely expensive for a working class like her. Normally, she wouldn't even have the chance to drink it. Now that she had a tycoon's boss to treat her to, of course, she wouldn't be polite.
She raised her glass and clinked it with Edwin Carter. "Cheers!"
Edwin Carter raised his eyebrows: "Cheers!"
Jane Ronan raised her glass and downed the wine in it with a grand air.
Edwin Carter shook his head helplessly: "This isn't how you drink wine."
It wasn't because he felt sorry for the wine, but because the way Jane Ronan drank was easy to get drunk and she didn't seem like a woman at all. It was more like the wild Jane Ronan that was hidden deep in her bones.
Three years ago, Jane Ronan had possessed an energy that made people yearn for her youth. Now, Jane Ronan had hidden all the curves in her body that she had three years ago, and there was an extra sense of tranquility in her.
Whether it was three years ago or three years later, the only thing Jane Ronan didn't change was her optimism about life and her enthusiasm for work.
Jane Ronan didn't finish her thought. Instinctively, she licked her cherry lips, which were shining like water.
It was an unintentional action, but Edwin Carter's eyes were filled with charm. A different light slowly rose in his eyes.
Jane Ronan didn't know what was going on and hurriedly said, "This wine tastes pretty good. I want another pre-meal bar."
This time, Edwin Carter stopped the waiter. He personally poured a cup for Jane Ronan and said, "Drink slowly."
"Alright." "Yes," Jane Ronan answered, but her body refused to obey him as she gulped down the wine in her cup once again.
"Drinking wine on an empty stomach is easy to get drunk." Edwin Carter gestured for the waiter to serve the dishes.
He had someone prepare two pieces of fruit salad and a fillet steak, both of which were cooked to perfection.
It was almost nine in the evening. Jane Ronan hadn't eaten lunch, so she couldn't wait to take action as soon as the steak was served.
However, when her knife and fork made a sound, Edwin Carter remained silent as if nothing had happened.
