C4 Something Happened
Every one of Tang Xin's expressions was caught by Ho Li's watchful eyes. His grip on her intensified, and a sudden surge of anger flared up in his chest, fueling his desire even further.
He longed to crush the woman beneath him, to merge her into his very being. His long fingers clutched the back of her head. With closed eyes, he was about to lean down and kiss her lips when...
A voice echoed in his mind, "Li, save me!" The faint voice was laden with fear and timidity, and a beautiful, delicate face flashed through Ho Li's thoughts. He snapped back to reality, his eyes opening to Tang Xin's ashen face. Instantly, his body went cold, and he withdrew from her without a second thought.
He fastened the button he had torn open, maintaining his regal demeanor.
In contrast, Tang Xin, disheveled and disordered, felt utterly insignificant, like a mote of dust. How could she ever be worthy of such an esteemed man?
The night was picturesque, and the mountainside view was unexpectedly stunning, yet Ho Li's mood was at the peak of agitation.
He pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and began to smoke in silence.
Time passed, and the woman in the car had managed to straighten her clothes. She stepped out in a daze, not sparing Ho Li a glance, and began her solitary descent down the mountain.
The area was deserted. A few kilometers ahead lay a scenic villa community, but going down meant a desolate ten-mile stretch without a soul in sight.
With no transportation available in this rarely visited place, the only option was to walk down.
The night wind tousled Tang Xin's hair as she clutched her shattered self tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks as she turned away.
From the car accident to her amnesia, to the calamity of today, and even the assault she endured.
She wondered what more she could possibly lose.
She didn't know how long she had walked. Her shoes slipped off, her feet were raw and bleeding, her head spun, and her body shivered from the cold. Finally, everything went black as she collapsed by the roadside.
...
"Tang Xin, wake up! Please, don't scare me!"
As her vision cleared, Tang Xin was greeted by a stark white. She attempted to lift her hand but winced as she felt the needle embedded in the back of her hand. Any movement shifted the needle, sending a sharp pain through her.
Turning her head, she saw the man who had sent her to work at the nightclub — Ling Yue. He was also the first person she saw after her accident, and now, after being assaulted last night, he was once again the first face she saw upon waking.
Despite her exhaustion, a slight smile played at the corners of Tang Xin's lips, her eyes squinting slightly. "You lied to me!" she said.
Ling Yue, who had been pleased to see her awake, was taken aback by her accusation. He stood frozen for a moment before he fully grasped the meaning of her words. Regaining his usual nonchalant demeanor, he popped a slice of freshly peeled apple into his mouth and replied cheerily, "Wasn't I just helping you to recover your memories? The nightclub is crowded; you might bump into someone who recognizes you!"
He averted his gaze, feeling a twinge of guilt. Of course, he had no intention of revealing to Tang Xin that he had sent her there because he owed money.
Her beauty had caught the attention of the nightclub's owner, who had been willing to pay a high price for her. Ling Yue had thought it would be safe, that nothing would go wrong in just a few days. Little did he know, Tang Xin would return in such a state after just one night.
