MILLIE

It's been a week of smooth ground with Logan,I honestly was expecting back and forths but that hasn't been the case. Lia has been way too close to me than usual,which is surprising. She wants to be everywhere I go,as if we are glued at the hip. That fact alone pisses off Logan but he knows that my friends are out of bounds when it comes to his wrath.

As for Mia,she's been drinking a lot and doesn't spend much time with us. I just don't get how fast things have taken a left with us,so Lia and I grab the opportunity to spend some quality time with her when she comes.

We sit in a Cafe,chatting about school and other things when Lia asks.

"Mia,are you still seeing that King guy?"

I shift in my seat at the mention of Jaime,I feel like if I say something about it, It'll seem like I'm taking sides. Jaime is obviously having something with Suzie, Mia is just being used but I won't say that again, judging by how she reacted last time.

"Why do you ask?"

"Well, because if the answer is yes,then I'm going to say it again. He's not good for you Mia,that guy is just using you. You know how they're wired,they all just use women."

Uncomfortability settles at the bottom of my stomach at her words. Is Logan using me?

"You know how they prey on women,you're being naive and foolish if you think that guy has feelings for you."

The more she says things about the guys,the more my tongue itches.

"Well I think you shouldn't jump to conclusions about people's relationships Lia, not everyone can come into someone's life to use them,and everyone can make their own choices."

Silence falls upon the group at my words.

"See, even Millie thinks you should let me be with someone I love. King might have used people yes,but he's not using me,I've seen it in the way he looks at me,the way he holds me and the way he makes love to me."

My eyes briefly close and I scold myself. That outburst was for my own interests,I didn't mean to urge Mia on.

My eyes meet Lia's,who looks at me like I just betrayed her.

"Lia.."

"No,no Millie. I get it okay,I'm wrong and pushy,I'm judging people wrongly." She blinks back the tears that just formed in her eyes. "I've noticed you've changed too,you're always with that Suzie girl, hanging out like the perfect besties."

I frown.

"You've been hanging out at the her house,so I figured it out just now. You're going out with one of them,hence the change in both behavior and judgement."

My mouth drops open at the fact that she's been silently observing me. Have I changed and didn't realize it?

"I haven't changed Lia."

"Oh yeah? You wear lipstick,short tight dresses,heels,ponytails and sneak out at night. Now you support Mia dating a narcissist bastard,don't you think that's not enough change?"

She stands before I can answer and walks out on us. After a minute of silence,Mia places her hand on top of mine.

"Thank you, Millie. That meant a lot to me," she sighs. "This is actually the first time I've fallen madly in love with someone,I would be the happiest if my sister also supported me in my happiness." Tears of longing shine in her eyes.

Seeing how much this guy means to her,I refrain from rebuking her. Thinking about me and Logan,maybe Jaime is the same with her,maybe he really isn't using her.

"Are you sure this guy doesn't give red flags when it comes to his feelings towards you? Does he treat you right?"

She smiles shyly.

"Well,he's a sadist Millie,I literally have to pull his smoother side out. But he does like me,I can see it in the small soft touches when he doesn't realize he's doing them."

Well,I guess we chose fucking villains. That only means that how he acts towards Suzie is just a brotherly overprotective way which I misunderstood. I just hope she realizes that sooner than later,before she gets heartbroken.

It's been two days and Lia hasn't been her over cheerful happy self. We do spend time together but she seems distant.

"Do you wanna come with me at bonfire tonight?" I ask.

"No,I'll be busy tonight," She answers without lifting her head from the iPad in her hands. I sigh and walk over,then snatch it,forcing her to look at me as I lower down on the bed.

"Lia,look. I didn't mean to turn on you back there,but I honestly think we should let Mia be. If this guy makes her happy,then we shouldn't interfere. We don't know what he's like with her,but honestly,she looks so happy when she talks about him."

She sighs.

"Mia needs you,she need your support."

"I don't know Millie,I just feel like there's something wrong about this guy's feelings for Mia,I feel like he'll hurt her."

"Even the good ones tend to hurt us,don't they?"

I search her eyes. Watching as a reminder of her three year relationship with her good loving boyfriend who turned out to have been cheating on her with a man flash through her features.

"You're right," Her shoulders drop.

I rub her hands comfortingly.

"If anything goes wrong,we should be there to catch her when she's about to fall,let her make her own mistakes so that she can learn from them. Our duty now is to protect her,get to know this King guy on a personal level,maybe he's not that bad."

"Yeah.." she stares at me as though shes stopping herself from saying something.

"I know you want to ask me something,just go ahead."

She smiles.

"Are you seeing someone?"

"I don't know if I can really say that right now,but there's someone I like."

"Thank God. Was he the same guy who slammed you against the door and made you moan?"

My eyes widen to saucers,that was two days ago. Logan has made the habit of sneaking into the room every Thursday at night,when Lia goes to meet Peter. He kisses me senseless and touches me where I feel comfortable. Like my ass and the inside of my shirt, at my back and thighs,he's never gone beyond that. He's never made me feel uncomfortable or not in control of choices when it comes to my body.

That's what I like about him,he might be a sadist and possessive bastard,but he respects and protects me.

"Ahhh,there it is. I see it," I startle then realize I've been smiling.

"Does he give you none virgin tingles?"

I bite my lip and that gives her all the answers she needs.

"Fucking yes! Finally."

"Don't get too excited, I'm not going to have sex with him."

Her smile vanishes.

"I need a drink. Does that offer still stand?"

"Yes it does."

"I need to patch things up with Mia first.

She tries to call Mia but her number doesn't go through.

"It's off. Well,I guess the talk will have to wait for later."

We get dressed and head out.

An hour later, Lia and I are drunk, dancing around in the sand on bare foot and giggling like nothing in the world matters.

"Wait a minute,that guy over there has been staring at you ever since we got here."

"No way,maybe he's been looking at youu.." I slur,burp and then we both laugh.

"Mm mm,unless I'm blind."

I look in the direction where the guy is,he has disheveled dark blonde hair, stubble on his jaw and he's also shirtless and has dark jeans on.

My eyes stop at his face again and find him watching me intently. Our eyes lock in the distance,there's something familiar about him.

"See? I told you....Mia?"

I look past the guy and see Mia wearing a bralette and small shorts, the next person I see is Jaime,who is pulling a pissed off looking Suzie.

I frown, the guys are here? aren't they all supposed to be out of town? And she's supposed to be at her aunt's. I invited Suzie over for a movie and she told me that herself but by the look of things,she's already drunk,which only means she didn't arrive just now.

"Come on,let's go." Lia pulls me towards them.

When I see a circle around a single fire,I know it's them. My eyes land on Viking,as I call him, which he seems to like very much. The minute his eyes land on me,he tenses.

I look to the left and what I see has my heart dropping to my stomach.

"Mia." Lia says excitedly.

From eating each other's faces, Mia, who has her legs on either sides of manly thighs,breaks away with a moan and looks over her shoulder.

"Millie?" Suzie gasps and I can see her stepping close to me but my eyes are focused on the man painted with red lipstick that obviously belongs to Mia.

Logan's gold eyes lazily move to mine,he doesn't even looked fazed at all,his hand is still tightly gripping Mia's thigh as the other one lifts a glass of whiskey to his lips.

My feet falter and I take a step back.

"Millie,are you okay?" Lia grips my shoulder, I turn my head to the side and watch Lia's worried face through a blurry vision.

Mia comes to me but my eyes fix back on him, i can't look away from Logan.

"Millie? You're scaring me,what is it?" She asks.

My eyes flick from Logan to her then around the whole group. When they land on a fidgety Suzie,a tiny sob rips out of my throat and I instantly slap a palm over my mouthing.

Shaking my head,I take more steps backwards as the tears roll down my cheeks. I turn around and walk away quickly.

How stupid could I have been? I didn't see it,I should have seen it.
