MILLIE

My heartbeat thunders in my chest. I can't breathe properly,I can't process everything at once. I was used,just like Lia said. She was right about them, Logan is a King? He and Jaime are cousins?

I keep walking as I wipe tears off my face. These stupid tears,why won't they just stop?

When I reach far enough where I can't clearly hear the music,I lift my head up and close my eyes, letting the salty air breeze calm my wrecked nerves.

"Excuse me,are you alright?"

I turn and find a lean guy with blue eyes watching me with worry. I chuckle humorlessly.

"No,I'm not okay."

"Wanna talk about it?"

I sigh.

"No."

"Okay. I don't mean to be nosy or anything,but I saw you running away from the Lord's group,did they do something to you?"

I turn to face him,he's not actually that tall,he's also shirtless and wearing shorts.

"What's that you're drinking?" I ask.

"Vodka."

I snatch the cup from him and down the contents in one go.

"Whoa...slow down."

I get chocked and start coughing,he pats my back until I've calmed down.

"Thanks,that drink is strong."

"Yeah,I like my vodka strong," he chuckles then stares at me longer than necessary.

"Millie,right?"

"How do you know my name?"

"I've seen you around,I might have happened to watch you in those extra literature classes."

"Oh."

"I'm Trevor. Are you dating any of the Lords?"

"No,I have nothing to do with those people,I just happen to..have been dragged over there by my friend."

"I see,cool. We can hang out together,I'm with my friends over there."

He points at a group of three guys and two girls.

"Sure."

He introduces me to his friends and they surpringly welcome me warmly.

In no time,I'm completely wasted, being drunk is the only way I can seem to numb the pain and shut out the thoughts running through my mind.

I get to my feet and almost fall but steady myself.

"Where are you going?"

"Back to the dorm."

"I can take you," He stands.

"I don't want to be a bother."

"No,it's totally fine."

On our way to his car, Suzie blocks my way.

"Millie,let me explain."

I scoff,

"You knew about it, didn't you? You knew about all the girls,but just like you said,it has to be done."

"I couldn't tell you okay? I wanted to but-"

"Just stop. Stop trying to justify yourself Suzie,I don't expect you to be loyal to me,I'm not your family."

"Please don't say that,you're my friend Millie,my only friend. I don't want to lose you."

"Then you should have thought about that before you made a fool out of me."

"Mil-"

"Let's go, Trevor."

Suzie's eyes flick to Trevor,she looks at him with anger and dislike.

Great,I bet she thinks her brother owns me.

I step to the side and leave her standing there, pulling Trevor by the wrist.

*Days Later*

When Mia and Lia cornered me two days ago,I refused to tell them why I made a baby of myself in front of all those people a week ago. Lia however,asked me if I'd seen the guy I liked with someone else since almost all of them were pretty occupied. My answer to that was yes,Mia asked for a name so that she could,in her own words, 'cut his balls off while he's asleep,' I really wasn't in the mood so I just pulled the blanket over my head and drowned in self pity.

Trevor has been keeping me company,turns out we are taking the same course,which is law.

He cracks a joke and I laugh until I can't take any more.

"Where the hell did you get that from?"

"From science."

"Oh please!" I chuckle.

He pauses and I ask,

"What's wrong?"

"Don't you think it's high time you forgave your friend?"

I follow his line of vision and land on Suzie,who looks at me with a plea in her eyes.

I turn away from her and breathe in sharply.

"I don't think I can ever trust her again."

"Honestly,I think everyone deserves to be heard out. I've known Suzie for many years,she doesn't agree to ninety percent of what the Lords do. Whatever you think she did,she must have a better explanation."

He did mention he and her went to the same High school.

"Fine,I'll hear her out."

"Good. You can start with a smile at least."

"God no." I groan while standing,I collect my books and put them in my backpack.

When all classes are done,I unblock her number then call her. She picks up immediately.

"Hello."

"Wanna meet up right now?"

"Sure."

We meet at a shelter at the back of the hall. When Suzie explains everything,I understand her clearly.

"I'm sorry I rushed to judge you."

"It's okay,I too would have been mad If i were you."

"I thought it was Jaime,hence the reason why you disliked Mia."

"No,I liked you and Logan together,instead of her. I don't understand him at times,you know. I was so sure he liked you."

"Yeah,me too. I guess he's a good liar and got bored of my boring self."

"You're not boring Millie,stop discrediting yourself,you're amazing and really entertaining."

Her words bring a smile to my face.

"Hey Suzie?"

"Yes?"

"Are you in love with Jaime?"

Juice splatters from her mouth at my question.

"N-no."

"You can tell me,you know? I won't judge you."

She sighs before she speaks.

"It's hard Millie,I don't know what to do with all these feelings I'm having. One minute,he acts like he wants me and the other,he acts like i don't mean shit or I'm a pain in his ass."

I nod in understanding.

"Well,maybe you should move on."

"I've tried,I've been in love with him since I was fifteen," she sighs heavily.

"Well,I guess we all don't get what we want in the end. How did we find ourselves falling for such men?"

"Do you love Logan?"

"I can't say that for sure,I haven't even known him that long,I guess what I feel for him is more than like,the feelings are way too much for my own good."

"I get that. I'm guessing your friends don't know about the two of you?"

"No,and it's best that they don't,I wouldn't want to cause misunderstandings. Mia is in love with Logan,I don't want to take that away from her,no one wants to find out that their boyfriend is a cheating liar."

"Oh Millie..I just don't get it,one minute,he wants to get her off his back as though she's a bloodsucking tick and then the next,he's being too caring towards her and not giving a shit about you. It's as if he hadn't been beating up every guy who looked at you for more than five seconds."

"What?"

"Millie,you're not as invisible as you think you are. Logan has been blocking all the guys who have ever wanted to get close to you."

That bastard.

"You know what? Let's just focus on ourselves and be happy,those pricks don't get to rule our lives,they don't get to block other people from wanting us,it's our lives and not theirs."

I nod in agreement.

If Mia Is happy with Logan,I will never do anything that will cause a rift between them.
