C1 He was medicine and poison.

Late at night, the room with a wide-open French window was in darkness.

The headlights of the cars flashed from time to time like neon lights, reflecting on the pale face of the woman sitting by the window.

She covered her ears desperately, trying to stop the obscene sounds coming from the master bedroom next door.

But it was useless. In the dark, those sounds became very distinct.

Olivia Hart tried to get used to her husband bringing other women home. It was neither the first time nor the last.

It had been like this since the wedding night.

"I am Josiah Boone. My surname is the same as Joshua's."

"And the reason I want to marry you is to make sure you don't have a good life."

"I will not be faithful to you even for a second because you are not worthy."

Thinking of that night when she fell from heaven to hell, Olivia felt cold in her bones. She needed something to warm herself up.

With trembling hands, she pulled a utility knife out of the drawer and rolled up her sleeves.

On her white arm, scars were overlapping.

Seeing the bright red flow, Olivia's face looked relieved, as if she was saved.

A high-pitched scream resounded, indicating that the activity next door was coming to an end.

Olivia had already skillfully treated herself with medication and placed the glass bottle containing the blood in the cabinet.

Inside were already dozens of bottles like this, neatly arranged.

Finally, there was no movement next door. Olivia got up and left the room.

She moved slowly without turning on the light.

"Have you heard enough? How do you feel?"

Suddenly, cold words filled with ridicule resounded from the darkness.

Olivia was startled. With a bang, her knees collided with the corner of the coffee table, and she couldn't help but cry out in pain.

Josiah leaned against the doorframe, and his indifferent gaze swept over her. He frowned and said, "Shut up. Don't disturb Mann. She has to be at the fashion show tomorrow."

"I'm not asleep yet!" Evelyn Madden casually put on her pajamas and cuddled in Josiah's arms.

The hickeys on her exposed skin and the lingering charm on her face stung Olivia's eyes like needles.

She turned away and was about to leave.

Josiah scoffed. "Go in. Don't let this kind of woman ruin your mood."

"I really don't mind!" Evelyn flirtatiously said: "Having your wife hiding in corners and listening to us playing in bed is more interesting, isn't it?"

Every word and sentence was provocative.

"That's true. If she doesn't mind, why would you mind?"

Josiah smiled frivolously and looked at her with contempt.

His wife? What a joke.

Evelyn wrapped her fingers around the belt of his robe and pouted. She muttered, "Oh right, my assistant is sick. I won't be able to find a suitable one in a short time. I will definitely be flustered at the fashion show tomorrow."

"There is someone already here." Josiah sneered and looked at Olivia, who could not hide her pain.

Olivia couldn't listen anymore and hurried to the bathroom.

Ignored by her, Josiah felt angry. He rushed forward and grabbed her.

"Olivia, are you deaf or dumb?"

She suddenly bit her lips as he just happened to grab her wound.

"Did you hear that? Be Evelyn's assistant tomorrow."

"Why would I? Dream on if you want me to serve your mistress!"

"Don't you think it's ridiculous for you to put on such a righteous face?" Josiah sneered. He exerted more strength in his hand. "A person who plays with others' emotions deserves to be played by others!"

Olivia turned pale, and she frowned hard. Her amber eyes flickered.

Sensing her abnormality, Josiah was distracted and slowly relaxed his strength.

"Your hand?"

Feeling that the blood was about to seep through her sleeve, Olivia quickly pulled her hand away.

"Alright, as long as Miss Madden is not afraid that I will mess up her show."

She covered her arm and went into the bathroom without looking back.

Josiah thought of the feeling on his fingers and was stunned for a moment.

Olivia locked herself in the bathroom and removed the gauze.

Blood was dripping into the sink.

She smiled in a somewhat neurotic manner.

If she were cruel enough to break her hand, would that be enough?

No, of course it was not enough.

It was still far from Joshua's body, which was torn apart by the fall.

Olivia looked in the mirror, and her appearance was pale and frail as if she had experienced a lifetime.

She used to be reckless and arrogant. Wherever she went, she was the brightest presence in any crowd.

In the mirror, her face was so pale that she could barely recognize herself.

A bet, a lost life, and the mistakes she made when she was young and ignorant caused her to fall into a nightmare.

After meeting Josiah, Olivia really thought she had a chance to redeem herself.

"Josiah, you are my medicine and also my sugar-coated poison."
