C2 He Hated Her
At the show, backstage.
Olivia did not sleep all night, being ordered around by Ho Mann. She looked like a blank-faced puppet.
Seeing Olivia cough from time to time and becoming increasingly pale, the models covered their mouths and noses with disgust.
"Evelyn, where did you find this temporary assistant? Does she have some infectious disease?"
"She's for free. It's a waste not to use her."
Evelyn smiled complacently, covered the hickey on her neck with foundation, and ordered: "Go, get those dark red velvet high heels!"
Olivia swallowed the taste of blood in her throat. This was the side effect of antidepressants, and it was inevitable.
She put the shoes next to Evelyn's feet, but she lifted them arrogantly.
"Put them on for me."
Seeing that Olivia did not move, Ho Mann took out her phone and wanted to call Josiah.
"You don't want to disturb Josiah when he's in court, do you?"
"If you want to call, then call." Olivia said in a hoarse voice.
Everyone knew that Josiah's phone was turned off when he was in court.
Evelyn gritted her teeth and pushed her foot into the shoe amidst the laughter of the models. Suddenly she frowned and cried out in pain.
Blood dripped from the tips of her toes.
She took a few thumbtacks out of her shoes and screamed, "Olivia! How dare you!"
Olivia was not interested in this kind of clumsy self-directed act and turned to leave.
"Catch her! I want to call the police!" Evelyn did not give up and rushed forward, pushing Olivia to the ground.
A few models also rushed in, and in the chaos, one of the high heels heavily stepped on Olivia's ankle...
Cold sweat broke out on her forehead, and she paled even more.
Evelyn looked at her swollen ankle and laughed condescendingly.
"What happened?" Josiah came in and asked indifferently, seeing a crowd of people around her.
Everyone scattered. His gaze passed Olivia indifferent as if she was a stranger.
Her heart was full of bitterness. When will she no longer be affected by his coldness?
Evelyn rushed happily and clung to him like a vine. She asked sweetly, "Josiah, why are you here?"
The surrounding models were green with envy. Evelyn actually clung to Josiah!
He was a legendary figure in the legal world. The lawyer fees he received were particularly high, and he has never lost a case before.
"My client is not feeling well. The court is temporarily adjourned."
"Here's what happened..." Evelyn explained the matter in a few words, and finally, feeling wronged, she asked, "Olivia does not admit it. Do you believe her?"
Josiah raised his eyebrows. "Keeping her word is one of her few merits."
At this moment, a deep hatred flashed through his eyes.
Holding her head high, Olivia stubbornly said, "I advise you to find a woman who doesn't know how to play such cheap childish tricks. It shows your taste."
"Did you want to mess up Evelyn's show? Miss Hart." Josiah's tall body was like a shadow covering Olivia. His bony hands pressed on her swollen ankle.
He could feel her trembling in pain, but she did not say a word.
Josiah leaned over her ear and asked with hatred as if he wanted to bite her flesh.
"Just like you made a bet with others that you would catch Joshua in ten days."
The phone call before Joshua's suicide rang in Josiah's mind countless times.
"Josiah, Olivia wants to break up with me. I want to die..."
Every time he thought about it, his heart grew cold, and he wanted to send Olivia to hell to apologize to his younger brother.
Olivia's pupils constricted. The scene of Joshua falling off the building exploded in her mind, and in an instant, her eyes reddened as if covered in a mist of blood.
She lowered her head, clenching her teeth.
Suddenly, she heard herself say, "Okay. If you say so, I was the one who put the thumbtacks. Miss Madden, I'm sorry."
Josiah watched Olivia murmur with a lost look and suddenly felt a trace of irritation in his heart.
"We are even. Forget it." Evelyn suddenly pulled Josiah up and said with a lovely smile, "Go to the audience and watch me, in the VIP seat."
The show was about to start, and the people backstage were busy.
Olivia was left there, just like that, and no one looked at her.
Feeling her stiff and cold body gradually warming up, she slowly stood up and limped out the door.
On the other hand, Evelyn noticed the envious looks around her, intentional or not, and she felt pleased with herself. But, the next moment, she was shocked by Josiah's cold gaze.
