C6 The Bet

Olivia was startled. The female companion he usually brought was Evelyn Madden.

"Did you hit the wrong number?"

He said impatiently, "Olivia, do you want me to invite you? "Come over quickly."

After hanging up the phone, Olivia's heart skipped a beat. This was the first time Josiah wanted her to be a female companion.

Suppressing the inexplicable anxiety and uneasiness in her heart, she opened the wardrobe and found the long dress that she had not worn for a long time.

Olivia was led by the waiter into the banquet hall on the top floor. The door was opened and everyone's eyes fell upon her. In an instant, there was silence.

There were about twenty people in the room, and Josiah was the only one who stood out.

His thin lips parted slightly, and he waved his hand lazily and casually.

"My female companion is here."

Olivia only felt nervous and walked towards Josiah, who was sitting in front of the card table.

When she got closer, the rough, greasy, fat middle-aged man's throat rolled up and down. His breathing started to become heavy.

Her fair and clear face, her thin waist that could be held by a hand, and her long dress wrapped tightly made people want to find out more.

Suddenly, he felt that all the women who wore revealing clothes and heavy makeup were especially ordinary. They couldn't even compare to a single finger of hers.

"Mr Boone, you are interesting! This bet is more beautiful than Evelyn Madden. I like it!"

Bet?

His words were like a bolt out of the blue. It struck Olivia to the point she suddenly trembled, and her face's color faded inch by inch.

"What do you mean..."

Seeing her little face filled with fear and pain, Josiah's heart was filled with joy. He touched her hair and smiled gently.

"It's just one night. Besides, I might not lose."

After three years, Josiah looked at her again. However, his thin lips were like knives, and he spoke the cruelest words. Every word and sentence seemed to tear Olivia's heart out.

She retreated in disbelief and was pulled back by Josiah. Her thin body staggered and fell into his embrace.

Olivia struggled and wanted to run. The embrace that she could not beg for now seemed to be full of thorns. The slightest touch made her entire body hurt.

"Be good."

Josiah said softly in her ear. His arm firmly held her weak struggle.

"Beauty, don't be afraid. I, Asher Luz, have a good heart for women." The middle-aged man rubbed his hands and signaled the dealer to start distributing the cards.

Olivia sat on Josiah's leg. Her body trembled and became stiff.

Under the light, her face was white and transparent. Her throat seemed to be choked by something and she could not say another word.

She stared blankly at the card in Josiah's hand, and her mind was blank.

They were playing Black Jack, and the outcome was decided in one round.

Asher Luz looked at Olivia with a determined look in his eyes.

He slammed his cards on the table. 20 points!

The crowd was in an uproar. Asher Luz smiled complacently. His eyes were glued to Olivia. He wished he could peel her clothes off with his eyes.

Olivia trembled violently. Her hand unconsciously grabbed Josiah's arm, and blood flowed out of her mouth.

Josiah froze. He unfolded the card in his hand. 21 points.

Her tensed body suddenly relaxed. This game could be played by mathematics. As smart as Josiah was, this result was within his expectations.

So, he was trying to scare her. It must be...

The next moment, Josiah put down his cards indifferently and admitted defeat.

"I lost."
