C14 I'm I The One Spoiling Her?

Alice woke up because of the non-stop ringing of her mobile phone. It was the alarm clock that she set up. She couldn't believe that she let herself sleep so late last night. She yawned as she got up from the bed. She immediately went to the washroom to wash her face and prepare herself for breakfast. She was thankful that it was the weekend, and she wouldn't be late for her class.

Last year, she needed to stop because her mother encountered a problem in the country where she was working. She needed to work so she could help her father with the expenses at their house. But when her mother came back, she enrolled again this school year. She wanted to get her diploma and land a good job. She was still sleepy, and yet she forced herself to stand up. She couldn't be laid back when her mother and her father were already awake and busy working.

While in the washroom, she accidentally looked at herself in the mirror, and she couldn't help but stare at herself. She couldn't believe that her eye bags were swelling. "This is what I am saying," she said to herself. She quickly grabbed the facial foam and then she started to wash her face. After that, she applied eye cream so her eye bag wouldn't be visible. She let out a deep sigh.

Alice couldn't help but still feel the heavy feeling that was brought by the incident last night. She felt like she was inside a fairy tale story because of how wealthy Kendrick's family was, but she also realized that even though they had a lot of money, they were still unhappy because they couldn't get along with each other.

She suddenly felt sad for Kendrick. She could understand where he was coming from. It seemed no one was actually trying to listen to understand him. It seemed that the people around him, including his father, were there to listen but not to understand but to judge him instead. She thought that those scenes that happened last night were just from a TV series, but she was so wrong. It was also happening to Kendrick.

She couldn't help but wonder what the man was doing and his family's thinking about him was not so good. It seemed to everyone's eyes Kendrick was always wrong. She was confused and shocked at how they all said unpleasant things towards him. A knock on the door brought her back to her senses. It was her mother who was waking her up so they could have breakfast together.

"It's already nine in the morning, Alice. I have been listening to your alarm clock since six and yet you haven't come out from your room," she said to her, which made her chuckle. She was just pausing her alarm and pressing snooze every thirty minutes because she was too sleepy to get up.

She went outside of the washroom, which was inside her room, and then she took a towel to wipe her face. "I will follow, mom," she shouted without opening the door.

"So, how's last night? Did you enjoy the dinner?" Her mother suddenly asked when they were all at the dining table. Alice coughed continuously when she heard the question. She was surprised that her mother asked about it. She thought that she was going to forget how stressful last night was, but her mother made her remember what exactly happened to her and Kendrick.

It was not a good experience for her since there was tension within the family, and she felt like she was actually the reason for the misunderstanding. But Alice knew she couldn't tell her parents about that because they don't have any idea about the deal that she had with Kendrick. She took the glass on her side and then poured water on it.

"I— I am sorry, I was startled," she said and then fixed herself. "To answer your question, mom. It was great," she said, pretending to look happy. She tried to smile from ear to ear so that she wouldn't ask any more questions.

Her mother smiled. "I think you should go out every Friday night if your schedule is not so tight," she said, which surprised her. "Wh— what?" She uttered.

"I said, you should go out every Friday. It's like one of your ways too to relieve stress. I know how it feels to be in college, and especially if you are graduating. There would be a lot of pressure, and I think going out to clear your mind would be a great help to relax your mind that had been working overtime during weekdays," she said while looking at her.

Alice couldn't help but smile at her mother. She appreciated the fact that she was trying to get along with her after being away from her side for a couple of years. "Thank you, mom. I would really think about that idea. Anyway, I will surely let you and dad know if I am going out," she said and then she continued eating.

She grew up without her mother by her side, but she was thankful that she was trying to reach out ever since she came back from working abroad. And even if she was working out of the country, her dad always saw to it that they kept their communication open for each other. She thought that it was the magic in the relationship of her parents.

"Honey, don't spoil your daughter so much. She might get used to it," her father said, which made her smile. He was even shaking his head while saying those words. She knew that she was already spoiled by him. Her father would give everything that she wanted. "Am I the one spoiling her?" Her mother said while laughing.

She couldn't help but laugh as well while eating because of her parents. They may not have a lot of money, but she was grateful that they understood each other.
