C17 Just Try To Understand Your Dad

"You are so stubborn. You have taken her attitude," Nelson said in a low voice, but that didn't escape Kendrick's ears. "Are you talking about my mother?" He asked straight to his father as he couldn't hold himself anymore. This was not the first time that his father had said that, so he wanted to know if he was referring to his mother, though it was very obvious.

"I guess I have taken this attitude after you, Dad. Don't blame anyone else," he quickly said, and he didn't wait for his father to speak. "I am leaving again. If you will take me to this study room, then you should say that you are letting me leave my own life. Until then, you will see me as what I am now. I wouldn't do anything that you will ask me to do just because I wanted to please you. What I need from you as my father is your trust and faith in me," Kendrick was unable to control himself. He uttered those words before he turned the doorknob and went out of the room.

He felt like the pain in his head was suddenly gone. His hangover was gone as well. It seemed like the morning conversation that he had from his dad was an effective pain reliever and hangover removal. He shook his head. Kendrick was disappointed because until now, his father couldn't get what he wanted. Even with the inheritance that he was supposed to be getting, he was trying to hinder it. He even told his grandmother that he wouldn't get it until he satisfied all her conditions.

He let out a deep sigh. He couldn't figure out why his dad had been like that to him since he was a child. "Did you have a fight again with your father, Kendrick?" His grandmother said as soon as he walked out from the study room.

He just smiled at her. His grandma was his dad's mother, but he couldn't help but wonder why the old woman had such a kind and positive attitude while his father was a total opposite. With his grandmother's smile and the tone of his voice, he knew that she could calm down even the soldiers fighting in the middle of a war. That's why he was so fond of her. If there was someone whom he couldn't speak sarcastically, it was his grandmother.

He loved his grandma so much because she was the one who raised him since he was a kid. He couldn't help but feel that he was also her favorite grandchild. If there was one person who could support him, that was his grandmother. So, when he decided to decline her request to him, she just smiled and she said that he can do what he wanted to do.

He could enjoy every single day until the day that he was ready to take over the company. She even said that once he became the chairman of their business, he wouldn't have any time to slack off so he must enjoy every moment and while he was young. But for him to get a part of his inheritance so he could have a capital to use with the business that he was trying to build, his grandmother gave him a condition.

He wanted him to introduce his girlfriend to her and he must satisfy all her conditions before he could get that. And, that was all because of his dad. His dad knew that he never wanted to be tied to a woman. He hated having a relationship because women were too clingy for him, and he was glad that he met Alice.

Alice was the answer to his prayers. He thought that he could never find a woman who was not interested in him and would just simply agree with his offer, but he was wrong. Alice was like an angel sent to him from above, though he must admit that the woman was demanding on their first meeting.

She had a lot of demands, and she wanted to take control of their deal instead of him. But after the night of the dinner, he felt comfortable with the woman. Alice was kind, and she was not like what he thought about her when they first met. She was considerate, especially with what he was feeling that night when they were on their way to her place.

Alice was just quiet, and she didn't say anything, but when she got off the car, she said something to him which he didn't expect to hear from her. He could say that she was someone that could be a friend because he knew how to make his feelings lighter, but when they separated their ways that night, he couldn't help but go to Leo's bar and drown himself in alcohol.

Alcohol was always something to lean on, especially when he was having some misunderstanding with his dad. He thought that when he was drinking that he was able to forget his situation and every problem that he had. "Kendrick, you are not getting any younger, dear. I like Alice. When will you be coming back with her?" His grandma suddenly asked, which brought him back to his senses.

"I am not sure, grandma. Alice is still taking her masterals, and then she was also doing a part-time job. She's such a busy person. But I will tell her that you like to see her," he said to his grandmother. "Grandma, I will get going. I wanted to take a rest."

"Okay, sure. Just try to understand your dad. He has his reasons why he is like that to you. You will be a father anytime soon, and by that time, you will understand why he is like that," his grandmother said to him before he left her.

Kendrick couldn't help but think about what could be his father's reason why he was being harsh to him? Except for the thought that he never had liked him as his son?
