C1 CHAPTER ONE

Claire's mother begged her to accept getting married to the heir of the Elrod family. With a lot of pressure and anxiety, Claire has no other option but to accept the proposal, On the other hand, Adrian had no idea, Mila, his fiance had eloped with another guy on their wedding day. The Elrod's and the Du Pin Ching's had agreed to get the two married, in other to save their reputation. The Elrods had a very high reputation in the city they lived in.

Claire strode through the aisle nervously as all eyes flew to her beauty. She wore a ball made white gown with a transparent shiney white veil. Adrian also stood on the altar fantasizing how his newly dressed wife would look like. He had no idea what was coming his way. For now, he was rest assured that he is finally getting married, ignoring Chloe and his sister's demands on getting married to Chloe rather.

By now, they made all the necessary promises and here the time was for the bride and groom's kiss. Inches away from each other as he nearly revealed her face, his father approached him and whispered something to him which changed his demeanor and mood, the yearning groom ready to kiss his wife was backed out as he unveiled Claire's face. No one looked shocked apart from him . The guests didn't know his wife.

"Why did you agree to marry me?". "It was to save your family's reputation". "What reputation!, Do you belong to me and my family!?, No!, So why did you ruin mine and your life". Adrian said furiously as Claire looked stunned. "Your parents begged me to do this, because my sister was the one at fault...., She eloped with her boyfriend ". Claire scolded as Adrian looked at her appalled.

"What!, Mila eloped...". "And mind you!, I had to leave my boyfriend and take this huge step in my life, how do you think I'm going to explain to him, you are here and just blaming me for what your girlfriend did". "You should know better". Claire said disappointed at his attitude. There was dim silence on the car till the driver dropped them to the mansion. Claire got to the room and realized her things were already arranged in the wardrobe.

There was an awkward moment between the two till they slept. Wait!, Adrian and Claire didn't sleep on the same bed, there were two king size beds in the room, the room was actually spacious that it could contain the two beds. Claire woke up to see that Adrian was actually gone. She care less, so she made her way down stairs to have her breakfast. "Good morning!". But she got no response, it was Chloe and Janette, Adrian's sister.

She ignored them and made her way to the dinning table as she got herself some toasts and tea. " I actually can't believe even, middle class people could also have some attitude in them". "I know right, hmph!". Chloe seconded Janette. Claire ignored them again as she ascended the stairs to her room. Chloe and Janette looked astound at her behavior as they both smirked at each other.
