C4 CHAPTER FOUR

Ria sat down with her friends as they ate lunch. Ava was going through her camera and the pictures she had taken; Zara was taking different pictures with her phone while Penny was scrolling through her phone. Only Janet and Ria were actually eating.

“What are you doing?” Janet asked Penny.

“Just scrolling for news on the school. The school seems so lively even when it has just started” Penny replied without raising her head.

“Bells is always interesting whether it’s in the middle of the session or the start, it’s just more dramatic when we end” Zara said and the girls burst into laughter.

Some guys walked over to their table and a guy put his hand around Ria. He dropped a peck on Ria’s cheeks and Ria smiled widely before turning to him.

“Hey babe” the guy said ruffling Ria’s hair and Ria playfully slapped his hands off.

“You’ll scatter my hair, Ava still wants to take some pictures later” Ria said and Gabriel laughed.

“Sorry” he said as he tried to arrange her hair again and Ria slapped his hands off again.

“I know you are just scattering it the more” Ria said and Gabriel laughed as he bit into the burger Ria was holding.

“What’s up ladies?” Gabriel greeted with a bright smile that could blind someone’s eyes.

“You just saw us huh?” Ava asked as she took a snapshot of Ria and Gabriel.

“I wasn’t posing when you took the picture” Ria said and Gabriel bit into Ria’s burger again.

“Don’t bother. You’ll look good” Gabriel said and Ava shook her head.

“We have to feed with PDA again as this session starts” Penny said with a smile and Gabriel chuckled.

“You could say yes to Micheal you know. I think he’s cool” Gabriel said and Penny folded her hands.

“He’s not my type. We are not in the same league” Penny replied with a straight face as she picked up her burger and bit into her.

“Ohh! I’ll be sure to tell him that. He should back off” Gabriel said and Ria nudged him.

“Stop it Gabe. Penny just doesn’t like him. She likes someone else” Ria said and all the girls started laughing.

Penny turned red as she glared at Ria “Why are you sharing a girly secret? No. it’s just our secret” Penny said drawing a circle from her to Zara, Ava, Janet and Ria.

Ria wore an innocent face “I didn’t mention any name. I just told him you like someone else” Ria said and Zara burst into laughter.

“You know anytime I realise Penny likes him; I find myself laughing” Zara said and the girls burst into laughter.

“He might be a geek but I noticed he’s really cool you know” Ria said and Ava nodded.

“I took some pictures earlier so I’ll send them to you” Ava said as she winked at Penny.

“Who are you guys talking about?” one of the guys asked and Penny glared at him.

“Mind your business” Penny said and eyed it.

“Sorry” the boy muttered but Penny could barely spare him another glance.

“No meetings today?” Zara asked and Ria shook her head.

“It’s the first day and I should let everyone take a break. The soccer and basketball team have matches coming. I have some new routine to teach us” Ria replied and Penny sighed.

“Thank heavens, we’ve been doing that same routine for years already that it has gotten boring” Penny said and Ria laughed.

“This one is really cool” Ria said and Zara nodded.

“So when do we start practice and all? It’ll take a while to get adjusted to the new routine” Zara asked.

“We have to also give everyone a break so we should start next week” Ria said as she dampened the corners of her mouth with her handkerchief.

“Okay” Zara said and Janet shook her head.

“That’s why I don’t do this. It’s tiring” Janet said and Ria burst into laughter.

“It can be tiring but it’s actually fun” Ria said and Janet smiled.

“If you don’t join any club before the month ends, I’ll fix you in one” Ava threatened and Janet laughed.

“Do go ahead” she said and she looked around the busy and lively cafeteria.

Ria was already in the car and was about to give Dani a call when the front door opened and Dani got into the car.

Ria glanced up at Dani and dropped her phone “I was about to call you” Ria said and Dani buckled her belt as Ria ignited the engine.

“Saw you get into the car though” Dani said with a small grin and Ria smiled.

“You little squeaky rat” Ria joked and Dani laughed before turning to Ria.

“Ain’t no rat” Dani said and Ria laughed.

“It was just an expression okay?” Ria said and Dani shook her head before turning back to the road as Ria drove along the highway. The wind blew again her cheeks and a small smile wore its way to her face.

Her first day was way past her expectations. She hadn’t thought she would easily merge with other students so easily. Dani’s smile grew wider as she thought of Lisa and Theo.

Both were really nice people; while Lisa was a straightforward nice girl who liked to heap compliments on people, honest compliments though. She was also brainy and kind as well. Theo was the hot guy with sarcasm dripping with venom on his tongue.

Dani had laughed a lot around them and she didn’t think she would laugh that much in a month. If she stayed around them for just a month, Dani was sure high school was going to a lot of fun and she definitely wasn’t going to be their friends for just a month.

Ria wanted to say something to her younger sister and notice Dani looking outside the window with a smile on her face. Her smile got bigger and she laughed unconsciously. Ria wore a big smile seeing Dani like that.

“How was your first day?” Ria asked as Dani turned to her with a small smile on her face.

“It was great” Dani replied.
