C8 From the Other Side of Time

Lu Hee stared at Su Ruan's lowered head. Her hair was a little messy and moved along with the wind from the fan in the classroom.

His and Yu Yuanqing's voices were very soft, so she probably didn't hear clearly what they were talking about.

Today, Su Ruan had a cut of half a pellet on her head. As she moved, the scattered strands of hair on her shoulders made her look strangely adorable.

Lu Hee's fingertips moved. He actually wanted to touch the little pinch on top of her head.

With a light cough, Lu Hee spread out the note in his hand and lowered his eyes to answer the question.

After the questions were done, Lu Hee kicked Su Ruan's chair. Su Ruan turned around and looked at him with misty eyes. She took the paper in his hand, thanked him and then turned around to look at the questions on it.

Lu Hee raised his eyebrows. The allure of the question was quite strong!

Lu Hee had answered the question very carefully. With just a glance, she was enlightened. The question that had been bothering her for a long time didn't seem like a difficult question to him.

Su Ruan pouted. IQ was really incomparable.

After a week, she won her first Monthly Test and successfully hid in class for half a month.

He was more familiar with his classmates than Su Ruan was, going around looting cat food. All his classmates treated him very well, with the exception of Tang Wanqing.

When the Monthly Test's results came out, the school report was posted on the blackboard while Su Ruan stood behind and looked at it.

Lu Hee's name was pressed on top of her.

Su Ruan stared at it for a while. This was the first time since she was young that she did not get first place.

However, she did not feel the slightest bit disappointed.

Lu Hee's name seemed to shine brightly on the school report.

After school, Su Ruan carried the kitten to buy cat food and a toy ball for it.

The kitten hugged the toy ball tightly with its two paws.

"Ruan."

The voice that was separated by a long time rang out once more, seeming to come from the other side of time.

Su Ruan shifted her gaze away from the kitten, her face filled with disbelief and surprise.

"An Ran!"

Ding Anran wore a white dress, no longer the fake boy's hair, but short hair that fell to her ears, tucked behind her ears.

He looked more haggard and thinner than before.

The white dress she wore was loose, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.

After two years, when Su Ruan saw Ding Anran again, she felt that she no longer looked like her former self.

Su Ruan stared blankly at Ding Anran as she walked over and hugged her.

The cat in her arms mewled. Su Ruan ignored her and looked around at Ding Anran. "Wear a dress and look good!"

Ding Anran burst into laughter.

When she smiled, her entire person looked different. Even though she was still very haggard, she looked exceptionally bright and beautiful.

Su Ruan pulled An Ran home. A few days ago, her mother had been muttering about how An Ran was doing.

She called Su's Mother to inform her that Su Ruan had been reluctant to let go of Ding Anran's hand.

He opened the door and sat down on the sofa. Su Ruan almost forgot to put the kitten back in the bedroom and hide it.

After hiding the kitten, Su Ruan walked to the fridge and took out a bottle of Coke and a bottle of Sprite.

Sprite handed it to Enron, who kept the Coke.

An Ran took a sip of her Coke and squinted at Su Ruan with a smile. "Do you want to join in?"

Su Ruan nodded. "Yes."

Taking two disposable cups, Su Ruan poured some of the cola in her bottle into the cup and An Ran poured some of the Sprite in her bottle.

Su Ruan swirled her cup and took a big gulp.

She loved Coke, and she loved Sprite, as they used to drink together.

Su Ruan's voice was a bit grumbling, but more of her words were filled with pleasant surprise. "I thought you wouldn't be coming back."

Back then, when Ding Anran moved in a hurry, she didn't even have a phone or any form of contact. Su Ruan came back from her grandma's house and heard from her mother that An Ran had moved.

She dropped her schoolbag and ran out, but by then she had been gone for two days.

An Ran pinched Su Ruan's face as she smiled bitterly.

"I also thought that I wouldn't be able to come back, but luckily, there's someone here that I'm worried about. In the end, you've still come back."

Su Ruan wanted to ask An Ran's mother again, but just as she opened her mouth, Su's Mother came back with the dishes.

"Auntie."

An Ran stood up and took the dish from Su's Mother.

Su's Mother smiled kindly and passed the fruit in her hand to Su Ruan. "Go wash. You and An Ran can sit here and watch TV. I'll go cook. Why is this girl even thinner than before?"

Su Ruan poked Ding Anran in the back and pouted. "Not a bit of meat. It's very dry."

An Ran slapped her hand away and scolded with a smile, "Aren't you also very dry!"

Su Ruan stuck out her chest and raised her chin. "Who said that!?"

An Ran rolled her eyes. She didn't want to talk to her, so she took the fruit and washed it for herself.

To be honest, although Su Ruan looked small and thin, she had a well-proportioned body. She was either thin or lean, or had meat that was not missing at all.

After she finished washing up, she took a grape and put it in An Ran's mouth. Then she picked up another grape and put it in her own mouth. She squinted in satisfaction. Oh, it was so sweet.

Su's Mother cooked a large table of food. At the table, Su's Mother asked An Ran, "How is your mother now?"

Su's Mother asked with some hesitation.

However, An Ran raised her eyebrows as she smiled, "My mom already divorced him, so she didn't come back with me. She found a job as a supermarket cashier outside."

An Ran put down her chopsticks and tucked her loose hair behind her ear. "We are living a good life."

Su Ruan stopped talking and glanced at An Ran. She was living a good life now, and Su Ruan could see the light in her eyes. It was her yearning for the future.

Su's Mother nodded repeatedly. "It's good that you got a divorce. Your mother was too soft. You should have gotten a divorce a long time ago. This way, you guys could have suffered a little less."

Su Ruan picked up a piece of meat for An Ran and lowered her head to listen to her and her mother.

An Ran would be back for two days. Su Ruan let her stay in her own home, which was always open to her.

At night, the two girls lay in bed.

Su Ruan hugged her crayon, Shin-chan, who was on the bed. She glanced at Shin-chan, smiled and threw a small towel to Su Ruan, "You didn't even cover it. If others saw it, they might think you were crazy."

Su Ruan was stunned for two seconds. She lowered her head along An Ran's sight, smiling at her with her crayon, Shin-chan.

This crayon Shin-chan figurine was bought for her by her mother when she was young. She didn't notice it when she bought it, but now that she came back, she realized how lifelike the figurine was today.

Su Ruan's face turned red. "Its pants have been washed, they haven't dried yet."

Su Ruan had originally wanted to find something to put it on, but the moment Enron arrived, she became too excited.

I'm so happy I forgot.

After wrapping the small towel around Shin-chan's waist, the redness on Su Ruan's face dropped.

An Ran wore Su Ruan's pajamas, a goose-yellow one with a picture of a piglet on it. Su Ruan wore a soft pink nightgown with the ears of a rabbit on the back.

She said, "Su Ruan, you don't know how much I envy you, envy you a good mother, envy you have never experienced any hardships since you were young, envy you are more pleasing than I am, envy you can make people follow you wherever you go."

Su Ruan turned her head and used her fingers to wipe the tears that had leaked out of An Ran's eyes. She looked at the smile on the corner of her mouth and suddenly felt a little sad. "Your smile isn't nice at all."

Su Ruan looked up at the ceiling, where her mother had hung a small light for her.

Strings of lights with the pattern of stars were not very bright. Lying on the bed, it seemed like he was looking at the stars.

Since An Ran was envious of Su Ruan, she had always known about it.

When she was young, Su Ruan liked to wear a dress. She looked like a doll, and her mother cleaned it up for her. She wore a small dress, like a little princess.

An Ran had a boy's haircut and was dressed in ordinary shorts and jeans.
