C8 Hugs go boom!
“Aisha!” Ify shouted, her eyes and mouth wide open.
“Aisha, calm down.” Ebuka and intervened, coming closer to them.
“Or you want to hit me too?” Ebuka asked, a mocking scared look on his face as Aisha turned to him with angry eyes.
Ebuka was one guy. He wasn’t too tall, fair in complexion, prominent facial features and acted smartly. He and Naeto were mostly similar in bodily characteristics and even in attitudes.
“All bark and no bite.”
They all turned to Naeto who was staring expressionlessly at Aisha. He had uttered the sentence again. If it were possible, Aisha got even more angry.
“All bark and no bite.” Naeto repeated.
Aisha shouted, rushing towards Naeto. Ify and Ebuka tried to hold her back but Naeto signalled them to hold off. They did reluctantly.
Aisha punched and punched, scratched and slapped but Naeto did nothing other than stare at her, occasionally shielding his face from her physical insults.
“Na psychaitric Dem suppose take did two oo.” Philip commented, looking at them wierdly. The others were not much different in their speech.
Naeto finally held Aisha’s hands, there were tears running down her face. Then he pulled her into a hug.
The whole room ‘awwwed’.
Aisha’s sobs increased, her face hidden in his chest. Aisha was about Naeto’s height unlike she that was slightly shorter, so it was easy for Naeto to place his head on her shoulder, his eyes cast to the ground.
Ify didn’t know what to feel or think or do; so when Ebuka looked at her, she stared back at him weirdly.
“You guys are funny. One moment, you’re at each throat, the next you’re hugging like best friends.”Lizzy said, sitting back down on the floor. She had stood up with a few others during the commotion.
“Abi.” Zubi concorred.
Silence followed. Aisha's sobs could no longer be heard.
“Are they dating or what? The hug is taking too long." Jide voiced out, his voice ringing out loud and clear in the silent room.
Ebuka looked at her then and said, ”Your friends are weird.”
Ify smiled, moving back to lean against the wall. She suddenly felt weak.
“But I like your friendship.” Ebuka noted, still looking at her, a confident look on his face and she wondered what he was up to.
“So from today, I make myself your friend."
She laughed then stopped, then chuckled. She was feeling too weak, too hungry.
“Well, you’re welcome.” she replied warmly.
“But…” she quickly added when he tried to talk, ”You’ll have to prove yourself worthy.”
“Eheh?...” he raised a brow, a handsome smile appearing on his face.
She chuckled again, looking back at Naeto and Aisha to see they had already separated and Naeto was staring at her. She raised a brow.
“Hug yaff finish.” Zubi announced cheerily, clapping her hands in the air.
It was in light moments like this that you could tell their real personalities. Zubi was the short chubby cheerful girl.
“Eeeeeh, pomp the champagne." Jide cheered drily, making swinging movements with his hands.
“Really." Lizzy started, ”I…”
Boom!
Ify fell to the ground.
