C10 Please Don't Push Your Luck!

Gu Shimu, for the first time in his life accused of not being the sharpest tool in the shed, was at a loss for words.

How could anyone think he wasn't smart?

He was simply overwhelmed by paternal affection upon seeing the cute baby's adorableness. He just wanted to dote on him, which made it impossible to keep his wallet closed.

Ten thousand yuan was a number he had managed to restrain himself to. If the cute baby hadn't been so young, possibly to his detriment if given too much, Gu Shimu would have been tempted to tack on a few more zeros.

The cute baby was irresistibly adorable. Gu Shimu had momentarily transformed into a Money Giver, only to be mistaken for someone with a few screws loose.

This little guy was something else...

His father often reminisced about his childhood, comparing him to a mischievous monkey, causing chaos daily, much to everyone's annoyance.

He didn't believe it.

As far back as he could remember, he had always been the child others envied, the benchmark of excellence that made countless people green with envy.

How could he possibly be a nuisance?

But now, looking at Tang Xiaoci, he was beginning to see the light.

If this were truly his child, and the child took after him, then perhaps he wasn't quite so adorable in his clueless days.

"Xiaoci, what has your mother taught you?" Gu Shimu pondered, when Tang Yexi's stern voice cut through his musings not far away: "We can't take advantage of someone just because they're not all there. Go on, give the money back to them!"

Gu Shimu: "..."

Okay then.

Perhaps he had been too hard on himself. His son's bothersome behavior might not be inherited from him after all, but from his mother!

Tang Xiaoci's big eyes flickered, filled with reluctance.

He had earned that money fair and square.

He didn't want to return it!

But he was a good boy, and good boys listen to their mothers.

After a moment's thought, he scampered over to Gu Shimu, looked up at him earnestly, and asked, "Uncle, do you want to know why I bet on my mom to lose and you to win?"

"Indeed," Gu Shimu crouched down to meet his gaze, "can you tell me?"

"Sure!" Tang Xiaoci cocked his head and grinned charmingly. "One question, ninety-nine thousand nine hundred yuan."

Gu Shimu, "..."

Clearly, this little guy had no intention of paying back the money.

Fortunately, Shimu had no desire to reclaim it either.

He was all too eager to spoil him, willing to give any amount of money.

He nodded in agreement. "Okay."

Tang Xiaoci's face lit up with joy. He snuggled close and whispered in Shimu's ear, "Because... Big Brother said we were born from our parents' fight!"

Gu Shimu, "..."

Tang Xiaoci went on, "The book says that having a baby is really painful. So, I figured, maybe my mom lost a fight with my dad, and that's why she had to have a baby for him!"

The little guy declared confidently, "Since my mom had to have a baby for my dad because she lost the fight, she's bound to lose today too!"

Gu Shimu, "If you believe your mother is going to lose, why do you still support her in fighting me? You even said you wanted to see your mom beat someone up. If you think I'm going to win, doesn't that mean I'd be the one doing the beating? You should be telling your mom not to fight with me."

Tang Xiaoci blinked his big, watery eyes and presented the payment code on his wristwatch. "One question costs ninety-nine thousand nine hundred yuan!"

Gu Shimu was left speechless.

Tang Yexi came over and gently tousled the little guy's hair. "Tang Xiaoci, don't get ahead of yourself!"

Considering Gu Shimu didn't seem to be lacking funds, it wasn't a big deal if his son didn't want to repay the ninety-nine thousand nine hundred yuan.

It would be excessive to try and swindle him again.
