C17 Family Rules!
She was both shocked and furious, charging forward to break the arms of two men and fracture two of Hsing Peizhen's ribs.
Subsequently, she endured a harsh punishment from her uncle. Ignoring her cousin's attempts to dissuade her, she took the two children and left the Tang family villa.
From that point on, she and the children were inseparable, no longer sleeping in separate rooms at night.
Despite this, her youngest son would often wake up terrified in the middle of the night, crying out for his mother, flailing his small hands and screaming, "Don't grab me, don't grab me, I want my mother." Her heart shattered at his cries.
When her son cried, she cried along with him.
She had done everything in her power to provide her children with a stable home and a joyful childhood.
Yet, her son still felt insecure.
Her eldest was somewhat better off, unusually mature and mentally strong for his age.
Her youngest, having been born frail and often ill, had a gentler nature and a more vulnerable psyche than his brother. The trauma of nearly being abducted in the night still haunted him, a wound she had yet to fully soothe.
At night, no matter how exhausted, he needed to curl up in her embrace to fall asleep. Without her presence, he refused to close his eyes, no matter the hour.
Looking at her son's delicate face and the small hand clinging to her pajamas, she felt a mix of heartache and sweetness. She bent down to kiss each child's forehead, silently turned off the wall light, and drew them both into her arms, closing her eyes.
Sensing her, the children snuggled closer in their sleep.
She smiled softly, holding them even tighter.
They all slept soundly through the night.
The next morning, Tang Yexi prepared a nutritious breakfast for the children. Only after everything was ready did she gently wake them.
The little guys were always so well-behaved, never dawdling in bed. They got up at the first call, rubbing their sleepy eyes as they headed to the washroom, never causing her any trouble.
Every day, Tang Yexi adored watching her son's sleepy, groggy state, never tiring of the sight. It melted her heart, often coaxing a laugh from her. She would then walk over and envelop the two little guys in a warm, affectionate embrace.
The mother and her two sons shared a few laughs before the boys woke up from their naps. After freshening up, they joined Tang Yexi for breakfast.
Tang Xiaochu, ever the little grown-up, was never fussy about food and would eat anything.
Tang Xiaoci, on the other hand, had a sensitive stomach and was quite picky. Tang Yexi had to get creative with his meals every day to ensure he ate what he liked.
This morning, she had prepared a papaya smoothie, milk oatmeal, avocado sandwiches, and creamy pumpkin puree, all of which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
After a cheerful breakfast, Tang Yexi took the dishes to the kitchen for cleaning, with the two little guys lending a hand.
No sooner had she finished washing up than the doorbell rang, her hands still wet.
"Mom, I'll get the door!" Tang Xiaoci eagerly dashed off to answer it.
"Slow down, don't trip," Tang Yexi cautioned, quickly drying her hands and following him. "Xiaoci, remember not to open the door to strangers."
She feared it might be Hsing Peizhen's people coming to take her and her son away again.
In her past life, she must have inadvertently crossed Hsing Peizhen, for in this life, Peizhen seemed to have her in her sights.
Peizhen's niece was unable to conceive and had taken a liking to Tang Yexi's younger son, expressing a desire to adopt him. Tang Yexi had firmly refused.
It was only because she hadn't yet separated bedrooms with her son that Peizhen hadn't found an opportunity to act.
