C19 The Results of the Paternity Test

"Is this a gift for me?" Tang Xiaoci asked, his large eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Yes," Gu Shimu replied, gently rubbing the top of his soft hair, suddenly overwhelmed by an indescribable emotion.

He crouched down and embraced the small boy. "Do you like the Lego building blocks?"

Being unexpectedly hugged by someone he wasn't familiar with, even if it was Mr. Gu, whom he liked, made Tang Xiaoci somewhat uneasy.

He wriggled out of the embrace and scurried behind Tang Yexi, clinging to her waist and peeking out from behind her, his eyes fixed on Gu Shimu.

Gu Shimu's heart fluttered at the sight—adorable and heartwarming.

He longed to hold him again!

Resisting the impulse to scoop the little guy back into his arms, Gu Shimu stood up and addressed Tang Yexi, "May I come in and sit down?"

Tang Yexi, without a word, nodded and ushered him into the living room, asking, "Would you like a drink or some coffee?"

"Thank you, but there's no need to go to any trouble," Gu Shimu declined as he placed the document bag on the coffee table. "The paternity test results are in. Xiaochu and Xiaoci are both my sons."

The news hit Tang Yexi hard, even though she had braced herself for it. Her vision darkened, her limbs turned icy, and a buzzing filled her head.

Despite her preparations, she couldn't come to terms with the revelation.

What did this imply?

It meant that Xiaochu and Xiaoci were no longer just her children.

There was someone else in the world who had equal claim to them.

He was the biological father of her children!

How could he be their father?

What were the odds?

If only she had known, she would never have come to Night Capital...

Drowning in a sea of regret, her face turned ghostly pale, and her body shook uncontrollably.

Tang Xiaoci, frightened by her reaction, burrowed into her embrace, wrapping his arms around her waist and timidly calling out, "Mommy."

Tang Xiaochu dashed to Tang Yexi's side, shielding her, and seized the fruit knife from the coffee table, pointing it at Gu Shimu with a fierce determination. "Leave now, don't scare my mom. If you scare her again, I won't be polite!"

Despite his genuine fondness for Gu Shimu, he chose to stop liking him because his mother was afraid of the man.

Gu Shimu's brow furrowed slightly as he gazed at Tang Yexi, speaking in a gentle tone, "Take a deep breath and relax. You've frightened the little guys. Remember, I promised I wouldn't take them from you. My word is my bond. There's no need to be tense."

Indeed.

Gu Shimu had given his word that he wouldn't take her children away.

She had no reason to be anxious.

No reason to fear.

The children were hers, and nobody could take them from her!

After several deep breaths, she took the fruit knife from Tang Xiaochu's hand and settled onto the sofa, cradling the two children.

Holding the child close, she confronted Gu Shimu, "I'll repeat myself: the children are my life. As long as I'm breathing, no one will snatch them away from me! What are your intentions?"

"I get it. Let me assure you once more, on my honor, that I will never separate you and your son," Gu Shimu reassured her in a soothing voice, aiming to calm her nerves. "I have a question I'd like you to answer."

Feeling more secure with his additional promise, Tang Yexi gave a nod. "Ask away."

Gu Shimu inquired, "It puzzles me. How did you obtain my sperm?"

It was inconceivable that someone with his capabilities had no idea when he had lost his sperm.
