C12 What Was the Point of Living

Caiang slowly opened her eyes. The glaring red light made her squint her eyes. It took her a long time to get used to the light. She opened her eyes and looked around.

It was a storage room. It looked familiar. It seemed to be the place where the Thousand Faces were stored in the Hu family.

In the center of the room was a table. There were some tools on it. Caiang took two steps forward, wanting to see more clearly. However, she was stopped by something.

When she looked carefully, she saw that there was a thick iron chain tied to her ankle. The other end of the chain was inserted into the wall and locked her. However, the range of her movement was only about ten feet.

Caiang squatted down and pulled the chain. It was very strong.

Caiang felt her mind go blank. Her memories were messed up. She could not think of anything.

"Creak."

The sound of the wooden door came from the door. Caiang subconsciously reached out to pull out the short knife at her waist, but it was empty.

Caiang was stunned for a moment. She reached out to touch her body. The daggers were all gone. Who took them away?

Her search stopped. Her face became even more confused. Why did she feel that she was carrying a knife? Was there any danger in her own house?

"Ling'er, it's time to eat." Someone came over with a food box and squatted in front of Caiang. The food box was opened and there was quite a lot of food in it.

Not only was there a dish, but there was also a pot of wine.

Caiang saw the cup that the man handed over to her. Her hands were thin and weak, and they were pale.

Caiang felt that something was wrong, but she couldn't think of anything. She kept feeling that her hands shouldn't be like this.

Suddenly, a pair of hands flashed across Caiang's mind. Those hands were slightly rougher than her own hands, and they were a little bigger. They also had calluses from years of training.

The illusion disappeared in a flash, and she couldn't catch it.

Caiang looked at the old man in front of her and slowly drank the wine that the man handed over.

"Ling'er, don't blame your father." The old man squatted in front of Caiang, and a pale smile appeared on his face. "This is the duty of the Hu family's women, and it's also your duty."

Caiang didn't understand. She knelt on the ground and tilted her head to look at the old man, trying to see something from the old man's face and the obscure expression in his eyes.

However, she couldn't see anything. She only felt her head getting heavier and heavier. She felt dizzy, and the figure in front of her also became heavier. It turned from one person to two.

Caiang reached out her hand to pat her head, trying to wake up her dizzy head. However, her head was getting heavier and heavier, and she directly fell to the ground with black eyes.

It was not very peaceful in the dream.

Caiang dreamt of many things. The Thousand Faces, the yellow talisman, and the ghost control seemed to be things that had been far away from her for thousands of years.

In the dream, there was a youth in white holding a long sword. The features in the dream were blurry, and she could not tell his appearance. She only felt that his eyes were especially cold.

The dream was messy. In the blink of an eye, warm and scorching liquid sprayed on her face. It had a metallic smell and the sharp voice of a woman came, "Caisang, I can't accept this!"

Caisang's breathing stopped and she suddenly woke up. All the scenes in the dream faded away like a tide. She was like a fish that was about to suffocate. She raised her head and panted rapidly.

It was as if she had swallowed a basin of charcoal fire. Her heart and stomach were burning, and her mouth and nose were filled with the smell of rust.

Caisang lay on the ground for a long time. The dream was quickly forgotten, and she could not even grab onto it, leaving her empty.

She struggled to stand up, but she found that her hands and feet were tightly bound by chains. The heavy shackles hurt her hands and feet.

"Help!" Caisang shouted, and her throat felt a dull pain. She did not even manage to shout out, and her throat was stuck.

The chains were being struggled by her, making a clanging sound. It reverberated in the empty room, making Caisang even more panicked.

"Jiang Louyue!" Caisang subconsciously shouted these three words. Suddenly, she was stunned. Her heart felt as if it had been gripped by someone, and waves of sharp pain attacked her limbs and bones.

Who was Jiang Louyue?

Caisang suddenly remembered the voice she heard in her dream, and her face was filled with doubt again.

Who was Caisang?

Caisang's face was filled with confusion, and his mind became even more muddled. In a daze, he couldn't even remember his own name.

"Who am I?" Caisang frowned. The more he tried to remember, the more anxious he became. He kept struggling, and his entire body was drenched in sweat. His hands and feet were also grinded by the iron chains.

After a long while, she finally remembered, "I am... Hu Ling'er."

After remembering her name, it was as if a piece of ice had been broken, and her memories surged out.

She was Hu Ling'er, the eldest daughter of the Hu family, and she had a younger brother called Hu Shisan.

Just now, she was eating and drinking with her father, so why was she suddenly trapped on this table?

Footsteps came from afar, and a person slowly walked over from the door.

Caisang turned his neck with difficulty, and after seeing who it was, a relaxed smile appeared on his face, "Dad, dad, quickly let me go. Dad, I'm uncomfortable, hurry up and let me go …"

That person was Old Master Hu, and he was holding a bone-cutting knife in his hand as he walked towards them.

"Dad, dad, quickly let me go …" Seeing him come over, Caisang relaxed a lot, and he stretched out his hand to shake the iron chains on his wrist.

However, after seeing the expression on Old Master Hu's face, Caisang only felt his heart sink, and he was speechless.

Old Master Hu didn't have any expression on his face. Only his eyes were filled with malice and coldness.

Caiang looked down and landed on the tip of the blade in his hand. Her heart trembled. "Dad?"

"Ling'er, don't blame me. This is your fate." Old Master Hu held the sharp blade in his hand and slowly pressed it against Caiang's chest.

The tip of the blade cut through her skin, and the pain was burning. Caiang screamed out involuntarily, "Dad, what are you doing? I'm Ling'er, I'm your daughter!"

The tip of the blade was only as thick as a fingernail. It hurt, but it wasn't fatal.

Old Master Hu's blade was very slow and steady. It cut a neat cut from the chest to the abdomen.

Caiang could still scream at the beginning, but later on, she couldn't even make a sound. Her blood and sweat mixed together, and her clothes were slippery.

Old Master Hu's movements slowed down slightly. Caiang looked straight into his eyes, and her eyes were filled with coldness and despair.

She didn't make a sound, but her eyes were filled with complaints.

"Why?"

"Ling'er, don't blame your father. This is the fate of all the women in the Hu family. From birth, they were destined to have this day. But don't worry, you will live forever. Your soul will live with the Thousand Faces forever."

"Is it because I was born that I will die in your hands today?" The pain was like a thousand ants biting him. Caiang's face was ashen, and her eyes were filled with despair.

When Old Master Hu heard this voice, his movements paused for a moment. He slanted the knife into his skin and said emotionlessly, "If not for that, why would I let you live?"
