C18 Careful Care
Startled by Huang Wenyu's excited voice, Lee Bingqian shrugged nonchalantly. "Yes, the results are in."
"What did the doctor say?"
"Everything's normal, no issues at all," Lee Bingqian said, shaking her head as she turned to follow the medical staff.
Huang Wenyu quickly followed her, asking, "So, they didn't find anything wrong?"
"Nothing. All the tests came back normal."
"That's impossible..." Huang Wenyu murmured under his breath.
Lee Bingqian caught his comment and asked, puzzled, "What do you mean by 'impossible'?"
"Ahem, it's nothing. You must have misheard," he deflected.
"But I clearly heard you. The doctor found no problems, yet you seem convinced I'm ill," Lee Bingqian said, eyeing Huang Wenyu with suspicion.
"No, I was just speculating," Huang Wenyu replied. As they reached the next part of the check-up, he offered, "Let me hold onto your physical examination report."
"Sure." Lee Bingqian handed it over without suspicion.
Once the door closed behind them, Huang Wenyu frantically flipped through the report, quickly locating the gynecological section. He read it with growing disbelief. "It seems Lee Bingqian wasn't lying; the report is normal. But how can that be? Could the pregnancy be too early to detect?"
He counted the months; it didn't seem too early.
"Maybe this hospital's standards are lacking?" Huang Wenyu pondered, holding the report and considering whether to seek a second opinion elsewhere.
Several hours later, Lee Bingqian completed her full physical. The doctor attributed her nausea to acclimatization issues and irregular eating habits, prescribing some medication for gastroenteritis.
Lee Bingqian held up her results, venting, "See, I told you, it's just simple gastroenteritis. There was no need for such an extensive check-up. I may be a urologist, but I am still a doctor. I know my own body."
Huang Wenyu countered, "Physician, heal thyself."
"That may be true, but I know my body better than anyone. Let's drop it, shall we? I've wasted the entire afternoon here," Lee Bingqian lamented with a sigh.
Despite the reassurances, Huang Wenyu remained skeptical about the gynecological exam results. Some tests would take days to process, and he believed it was best to wait for the blood and urine test results.
The man shadowing Lee Bingqian and her companions was equally baffled. Why had they suddenly gone to the hospital for a check-up?
Due to a flare-up of gastroenteritis, Lee Bingqian had to postpone her plans to search for her sister that evening. Instead, she stayed in the hotel to rest properly.
"Knock, knock, knock."
"Click."
As the hotel room door swung open, Huang Wenyu frowned at the sight of Lee Bingqian barefoot on the cold floor. "The floor's freezing; why aren't you wearing shoes?"
"Uh, I'm used to it," Lee Bingqian replied, a hint of impatience in her voice.
Once the door was closed, there was no need for pretense. Why behave like a menopausal woman fussing over everything?
Lee Bingqian walked into the living room without shoes, prompting a concerned look from Huang Wenyu at the entrance. "Where are your shoes? Put them on quickly; the floor is chilly!"
Seated on the sofa, Lee Bingqian gave Huang Wenyu a peculiar look.
"You're grown up yet acting like a child, always causing worry," Huang Wenyu grumbled as he neatly set out the takeout dinner in front of Lee Bingqian.
Lee Bingqian didn't reach for her chopsticks right away, continuing to scrutinize Huang Wenyu until he squirmed under her gaze.
"Why aren't you eating and just staring at me?" Huang Wenyu inquired.
Resting her head on her hand, Lee Bingqian asked with suspicion, "You've been off today. Are you keeping something from me?"
"Nothing at all," Huang Wenyu replied quickly, grabbing a plastic bag and heading to the trash bin.
Upon his return, he noticed Lee Bingqian was still eyeing him intently.
"Eat up while it's still warm. The doctor mentioned you have a sensitive stomach, and eating cold food might upset it and cause you to throw up again," Huang Wenyu said, attempting to distract Lee Bingqian.
Seeing that he refused to elaborate, Lee Bingqian resigned herself to focusing on her meal.
Someone lurking in the shadows noticed the lights go out in Lee Bingqian's hotel room. After keeping watch near the hotel for nearly an hour and detecting no abnormalities, the individual finally turned and walked away.
Moments later, a shadowy figure stealthily followed behind.
In a nondescript factory on the outskirts of Vushor, a man strode in briskly. Despite the late hour, the workers inside were still actively engaged in their tasks, seemingly oblivious to his presence, continuing their silent labor.
