C19 Remove Surveillance
The man made his way through the production workshops to the elevator. Upon entering, he didn't immediately select a floor. Instead, he pressed what appeared to be a mere decorative feature.
Suddenly, three new buttons emerged beneath the button for the first floor, labeled basement one through three.
He pressed for the third basement level, and the buttons swiftly retracted, making it impossible for an outside observer to detect their existence.
The elevator chimed as it reached the lowest level.
As the doors slid open, the man, with a hint of nervousness, made his way deeper into the building. People passed by him, but he didn't so much as glance their way, keeping his head down and focusing on his path.
Eventually, he paused and knocked on a door.
"Come in," a detached voice responded from within.
Taking a deep breath, the man pushed the door open to find another man, clad in a black robe, gently swirling his wine glass, studying the color of the liquid within.
The man quickly briefed his boss on the day's surveillance details.
The boss arched an eyebrow in surprise. "Oh? That woman spent the afternoon at the hospital for a check-up? Why?"
"She wasn't feeling well and threw up. Her boyfriend was quite anxious and stayed with her the whole time, so I couldn't get close."
"Threw up? Boyfriend?" The boss seemed to ponder this, his eyebrow lifting further.
Seeing his boss remain silent, the subordinate continued, "We've confirmed the woman's identity. She's a renowned urologist in Umiton, here to search for her missing sister."
"Searching for her sister?" The boss took an intrigued sniff of his glass. "What's her name, and what nationality?"
"Lee Binglian. She's from Lunamis."
After giving a brief overview of Lee Bingqian's background, the subordinate stood by, awaiting further instructions. The boss gestured dismissively, "Okay, you may go. There's no need to keep tabs on her from tomorrow on."
"Ah? Understood." Though the subordinate was puzzled by the abrupt change, he knew better than to question his boss. He nodded and withdrew.
Silence reclaimed the room as the boss sipped the mysterious liquid from his glass, the red tint staining his lips, lending him an aura of sinister coldness.
He chuckled in a peculiar way, set down his wine glass, opened the door, and rode the elevator down to the second sub-level.
The second sub-level's layout was starkly different from the third; it was a series of cages as far as the eye could see, each imprisoning an individual. Some were smeared with blood, others had disheveled clothing. Despite these differences, they all shared one thing in common: silence reigned.
The sound of footsteps caused many lying on the ground to tremble uncontrollably.
A subordinate approached briskly. The man arched an eyebrow and inquired, "Where's the woman we brought in a few days ago?"
"This way." The subordinate led him straight to Lee Binglian's cage.
"Open it."
"Yes, sir!"
Upon hearing the unlocking sound, Lee Binglian, sprawled on the ground, remained motionless, feigning unconsciousness with her eyes shut.
In the darkness, she sensed his intense gaze upon her and lay there with a serene composure.
Without warning, a powerful grip seized her neck, lifting her slightly.
Her reaction was subdued; her limbs hung limply, her body appearing as though she were on the brink of death.
Despite her clothes being stained with blood, Lee Binglian's pallid complexion did nothing to diminish her striking features.
The man found Lee Binglian intriguing, but his suspicion about her identity led to relentless torture, which yielded no information due to the language barrier.
The woman was nearly broken by the ordeal. The man had lamented the potential loss of such beauty, but unexpectedly, Lee Binglian's sister came into the picture.
With Lee Bingqian's help in confirming Binglian's identity, the man's wariness subsided. He turned to his subordinate and commanded, "Take care of her and then take her downstairs."
"Yes, sir!"
Releasing his grip, he allowed Lee Binglian to drop back to the floor.
Anyone else would reflexively brace themselves in such a lucid state, but not Binglian. Her rigorous training was evident as she hit the ground once more without a change in her expression, despite the back of her head striking the floor with a thud.
Now fully assured, the man gave his subordinate a stern look and ordered, "Heal her wounds. I don't want to see the treasure we've worked so hard to acquire damaged so easily."
"Yes!"
The man turned away contentedly, and his subordinate quickly enlisted a companion to carry Lee Binglian out.
Since her eyes were closed, she had no idea where she was being taken.
