C120 Chaos

The silence between Alicia and me was heavier than the prison walls surrounding us. Neither of us spoke for several moments. We simply stared at each other, hoping one of us would suddenly think of something that could save me.

Then Alicia finally broke the silence. "Mike... are there any security cameras near your apartment?" she asked, her eyes filled with hope. "If there are, they should prove that she came willingly. Nobody forced her to stay with you." I quickly searched my memory. "There are a few cameras on the street," I replied. "One belongs to a grocery store across the road, and another is outside the apartment entrance. If the footage hasn't been erased, it should show that we arrived together. It should prove I never raped you."

For the first time since my arrest, a tiny spark of hope appeared in both our hearts. Before we could discuss it further, the office door opened. A prison officer stepped inside. "Visiting hours are over." Alicia slowly stood up, unwilling to leave. I reached into my pocket and handed her a small piece of paper. "My mother's number," I said softly. "Please call her. Tell her I've been framed." She nodded without hesitation. "I promise." She looked at me one last time before following the officer out. The moment she disappeared behind the door, the room became painfully empty.

Later that afternoon, Chris finally finished his shift at work. The entire day had been torture for him. Unlike Alicia, he couldn't simply leave work without permission, no matter how worried he was. Every passing minute made him fear the worst.

As he walked towards his bicycle, he decided he had to call Sarah. She deserved to know that her brother, Ben, was most likely the person who had framed Mike. Before he could dial her number, his phone rang. Sarah. He answered immediately. "Sarah?" Her sleepy voice trembled with excitement. "Chris... you don't have to wait another two weeks anymore." He frowned. "What do you mean?"

There was a brief silence before she whispered the words that changed everything. "I'm pregnant." Chris froze. For a moment, he forgot everything around him. His eyes filled with tears as a smile slowly formed across his face. "Really?" "Yes." He wanted to celebrate. He wanted to shout with happiness. But reality struck him almost immediately. His best friend was sitting behind bars.

How could he possibly tell Sarah what had happened? "Beautiful angel, take good care of yourself." "I have to go to the police station" Mike was arrested." "He was framed." Sarah asked in shock, "Framed by who?" "What happened?" Chris lowered his voice, "I will tell you everything once i know the truth, Bye." After that he hang up and rode his bicycle to the police station.

Meanwhile, Alicia rushed home. The moment she entered the Mooney residence, she searched for her grandfather. "Grandpa!" The old man looked up in surprise. Without saying another word, Alicia fell to her knees before him. "Please..." she begged through tears. "Please help Mike."

Peter was startled. He had never seen his granddaughter so desperate. She couldn't even bring herself to call Mike's mother.

Instead, she handed the phone to her father. "Dad... please call Aunt Mary." He nodded before making the difficult call.

Far away, my mother was preparing dinner at the Wood family mansion. Her phone suddenly rang. She smiled when she heard it was Alicia's father. However, the smile disappeared within seconds. As she listened, the spoon slipped from her trembling hand. "No..." Tears instantly streamed down her face. "My son..." Unable to continue cooking, she hurriedly left the kitchen.

Another maid quietly stepped forward. No one noticed the cold expression on her face. She calmly finished preparing the food before secretly sprinkling poison onto Kelvin's dinner plate. Moments later, dinner was served. The family gathered around the table as usual. Kelvin kept glancing at Ben. Samantha had a long day and Mike's arrest had disturbed her. She kept thinking about the final words Mike said to her. While Sarah was seating quietly, Not knowing how she will tell her family about her pregnancy.

Kelvin took several bites. Everything seemed normal. Then... Cough! He suddenly coughed violently. Everyone looked toward him. His coughing became worse. His face turned pale. His breathing grew shallow. Within seconds, he collapsed onto the floor. "Kelvin!" "Father!" Chaos erupted throughout the mansion. Servants screamed. Family members rushed toward him. Someone immediately called an ambulance. No one understood what had just happened.

Doctors rushed Kelvin into the emergency room. After several urgent tests, one doctor walked out with a grim expression. "He has been poisoned." The entire hallway fell silent. Poisoned? Ben's eyes immediately narrowed. "Who prepared today's dinner?" Every servant looked at each other before answering almost simultaneously. "Mary." Ben's expression hardened.

Without waiting for an explanation, he turned toward the household staff. "Fire both Mary and Quinton immediately." Everyone was still overwhelmed by Kelvin's condition. Nobody questioned his authority. Nobody even noticed how quickly Ben had taken control.

At the same time, my parents rushed toward the police station after hearing about my arrest. Mary could barely stop crying. When they finally arrived, they were allowed to see me. The moment I saw them, my heart broke. Before I could even apologize, my mother burst into tears. "Mike..." she sobbed. "What happened, Who framed you?" Quinton added worried, "Could it be the innocent girl you introduced to us this morning?" "Mom, Dad, i don't know."

Suddenly Mary's phone rang. After few moments she ended up the call shocked, "Kelvin has been poisoned... and they think your father and I are responsible. They've fired us." Quinton stared at her, "How?" I stared at her in complete shock. "What?" My mind went blank. Everything was falling apart. First, I had been framed. Now my parents had lost their jobs. And Kelvin... The man who had treated us with kindness... was fighting for his life.

I closed my eyes. Then I suddenly remembered something. "I've been saving money," I said. "It's not much, but it's enough for now." I looked at my father. "The bank card is hidden inside my wardrobe, under the second drawer. Use it until everything settles down." Both of them cried even harder. No parent wanted to depend on their child. But today... they had no choice. Even so they still refused. " No son we still have savings of our own."

Later that evening, Alicia visited again but this time she went straight to her father's office. She knocked softly before entering. "Dad..." Mark looked exhausted. She immediately pleaded with him. "Please help Mike." He slowly removed his glasses and sighed. "The evidence against him is too strong." "But he's innocent!" "I believe you," Mark answered quietly. "But if I interfere now, everyone will accuse me of protecting him because of my position. They'll say I'm a corrupt minister." Alicia lowered her head.

For the first time, she realized that even powerful people had chains they couldn't break. She slowly stood up and left. She didn't come to me instead she went straight home.

Inside the hospital waiting room, Samantha remained unusually quiet. She couldn't believe what was happening, her father in law poisoned. She kept shooking her head " No it can't be Mike's parents who did this

It simply wasn't the Mike's family she knew. Then she remembered the conversation we had yesterday.

Slowly... she turned her eyes toward Ben. He was giving orders to everyone as though he were already the head of the family. People obeyed him without question. Something about his confidence made her uneasy. Very uneasy. Not only her Tracy and Sarah were also noticing this. But with Kelvin fighting for his life, they chose to remain silent. This wasn't the right time. Not yet.

At the police station, Chris finally came to visit me. The moment he sat down, I noticed something was bothering him. He remained silent for several minutes. Finally, he spoke. "Mike..." "What is it?" His eyes slowly lifted. "Sarah is really pregnant." Despite everything happening around me, I smiled. "Congratulations."

But Chris couldn't smile back. "I'm scared," he admitted. "If her father dies... I don't think she'll survive the heartbreak." He lowered his head. "I wanted to ask your advice about telling my parents about the pregnancy... but after seeing everything you've been through... and how Alicia has stood by your side... I feel guilty." I gently shook my head. "Don't think about that now." He looked at me. "You need to be there for Sarah. Go to the hospital. Comfort her."

I paused. "Your mother is the head nurse there. Find the right moment to tell her. Maybe you and Sarah can tell her together." Chris nodded. He felt like he had a direction. None of us realized... the night was far from over.

At the hospital, doctors and nurses rushed endlessly through the corridors, desperately trying to save Kelvin's life. Tracy clung to the head nurse with trembling hands. "Please..." she cried. "Please save my husband. He was perfectly fine this morning. How could this happen? Please... do something." Valeria gently held her shoulders. "Don't worry, Mrs. Wood. We will do everything we can."

Across the city, another tragedy unfolded. Laura, consumed by guilt and despair, locked herself inside her bathroom. Unable to bear the weight of everything that had happened, she slit her wrists. Minutes later, her father forced the bathroom door open. His heart nearly stopped. Laura lay unconscious in a pool of blood. "Laura!"

Panicking, he wrapped towels around her wrists before carrying her to his car. As he sped toward the same hospital where Kelvin fought for his life, he prayed through tears. "Please... don't take my daughter too."
