C14 You Are Eager To See Her Again

At the Wood household, Ben stormed into the living room holding his phone. His parents were busy eating dinner and were both shocked by Ben’s angry shouting.

“Dad! Look at this!” He threw the image onto the table. It was the café photo. Mike and Alicia.

Kelvin Wood picked up the phone and studied it carefully. “What is wrong with this photo?” he asked calmly.

Ben stared at him in disbelief. “Are you serious? Look at it properly! They are ruining our reputation!”

“It hasn’t even been ten days and he’s already showing off. He already found a girlfriend and is holding hands in public!” Kelvin sighed. Tracy remained quiet while eating.

“They are shaking hands,” he said flatly. “That is not a crime.” He leaned back. “And the fact that this is trending means something else entirely.” “Our company has a privacy issue.”

Ben clenched his fists. But Kelvin was no longer listening. Then suddenly, Kelvin’s phone rang. He looked at the screen. His expression changed immediately.

“Minister of Police…” He answered. “Good evening, Minister. What a surprise.” The voice on the other end was calm, but firm. “Mr Wood… it has been a while.”

“Yes, yes,” Kelvin replied carefully. Then the tone shifted. “It seems a lot has changed.” Kelvin frowned slightly. “Changed…?”

“Yes,” the minister continued. “Including your company’s privacy.” Kelvin froze. “My company’s privacy?” he repeated silently.

The minister didn’t pause. “My daughter has only been working at your company for a few days.” “And now she is trending online with false information.”

Silence fell in the room. Kelvin’s grip tightened on the phone. “Your… daughter?” he asked slowly. “Yes,” the minister replied. “Alicia Mooney.”

The call ended immediately afterward. No further explanation.

Just silence.

Kelvin stood still for a moment. Then slowly, he turned toward his son. “Do you know what you have done?” he asked coldly.

Ben blinked. “Dad… what did the Minister want?” Kelvin exhaled sharply. “The girl in that photo…” He paused. “…is the Minister of Police’s daughter.” The room went silent.

“And whoever is responsible for putting her in that situation,” Kelvin continued, “will disappear from this industry before they even realize it.”

Ben’s face went pale. “Dad… you’re a big shot. You can fix this, right?” “There must be a way…” He stopped himself.

But Kelvin had already noticed everything. “You are involved in this, aren’t you?” Ben lowered his eyes. Kelvin’s voice became heavier. “You are not a child anymore, Ben.” “Stop playing games with people’s lives.”

“Why are you targeting Quinton’s son so much?” “Did you not already take enough from him when you got involved with Samantha?”

Ben said nothing. His silence confirmed everything. Kelvin turned away. “I will deal with this myself.” And he walked to his bedroom with his wife, Tracy.

Left alone, Ben slowly lifted his head. A twisted smile formed on his face. “So what if she is the Minister’s daughter…”

He clenched his phone. “For now, you are still under my control.” “Let’s see how long you can stay lucky, Mike.”

The next morning, I woke up early and washed up as usual.

Before leaving my room, I checked my phone. Nothing. No trending posts. No rumors. Nothing at all. I frowned slightly. “That’s strange,” I muttered.

But then I remembered what Alicia had said yesterday, that this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened to her. And that she would handle it. A small smile formed on my face.

So this is how people at that level operate, I thought. A battle of power… I wondered what kind of move Ben would make next. Hopefully nothing that would cost me my job.

With that thought in mind, I walked to the dining area. My mother had already prepared breakfast. My father and I sat down together. While we ate, my mother looked at me with concern.

“Son, how are you feeling today?” She paused slightly. “Are you still thinking about what happened yesterday?”

I smiled reassuringly. “No, Mom. I’m fine.” “Everything from yesterday has already disappeared. I think the Minister of Police handled it.”

Both of my parents stopped for a moment.

My father was the first to speak. “Really? And how would that happen?” My mother, slightly relieved, added quickly, “So we don’t need to worry anymore? Your company won’t punish you?”

I nodded honestly. “I don’t know yet. I’ll see what happens today.” We spoke a little more before I left for work.

I arrived at the company earlier than usual.

Chris was not there yet, so I waited outside.

A few minutes later, he arrived. I waved. “Hey, Brother. How are you? Looks like I arrived first today.” Chris smiled slightly. “I’m fine.” But his expression quickly shifted to curiosity.

He stepped closer. “Brother… I have a question.” I raised an eyebrow. “What now?” “How did you pull that off?” I blinked. “What do you mean?” “The media situation,” he said. “Everything disappeared so fast.” I laughed lightly. “Oh that.”

I shrugged. “It’s all thanks to that girl. Honestly, I’m just as curious as you are.” Then I added, “She’ll probably have to tell us herself.” Chris stared at me excitedly. “ Must we wait for her now or she will tell us later."

“Wait… are you planning to invite her again today?” I immediately laughed. “What are you talking about?” Chris stared blankly. “You were the one who approached her yesterday and she even said you owed her a favor.”

I paused, then smirked. “Actually, you were the one eager to see her again just now. You even suggested we wait for her.”

Chris’s face darkened instantly. “When did I ever say that?” I burst out laughing. “You really don’t remember?” Before he could respond, we both noticed something.

A familiar car had arrived. Alicia stepped out. She was trying her best to stay low-key, moving through the crowd quietly. But it was already too late. We had seen her.
