C155 The Melody Of Love

The applause gradually died down. Mark remained standing on the stage, a proud smile still on his face. He looked toward Alicia before speaking again. "To conclude this memorable evening..." "I would like to invite my daughter..." "...the newly appointed Director of Lucia Goods..." "...to honour us with a piano performance."

The spotlight immediately shifted toward Alicia. She blinked several times. "Me?" Mark laughed. "Who else?" Alicia looked completely caught off guard. "So many unexpected things in one day..." she muttered softly. I leaned closer and whispered, "You... know how to play, right?" She turned to me with a mischievous smile. "We'll figure that out." I froze. She giggled before standing gracefully.

The audience applauded as she slowly walked toward the magnificent grand piano. The polished black surface reflected the crystal chandeliers hanging above the stage. Taking a deep breath... She gently ran her fingertips across the keys. The hall became silent. Everyone waited. Even those who had been chatting moments ago stopped speaking.

Then... Her fingers began to move. The first few notes floated gently through the hall. Soft... Elegant... Pure. Within seconds, the entire atmosphere changed. Every conversation disappeared. Every pair of eyes focused on the young woman seated before the piano.

The beautiful melody filled every corner of the mansion. She wasn't simply playing notes. She was telling a story. A story of waiting. Of finding one another. Of finally arriving home. As the melody reached its chorus, Alicia softly sang a few lines. "The skies above are soft and blue, My heart has found its way to you. Through every road and every mile, You became my reason to smile."

Her gentle voice blended perfectly with the piano. Several guests unconsciously smiled. Others closed their eyes, simply enjoying the peaceful melody. When I looked around... Even the waiters had stopped working for a moment just to listen.

Across the hall... Sarah rested her chin on one hand. "I never knew she could play so beautifully..." Beside her, Samantha quietly nodded. Neither of them realised they had both been smiling from the beginning of the performance. Laura gently held Bright's arm. "So beautiful..." Bright nodded in agreement. "I've never heard anyone play like that before."

Even Peter, who had watched Alicia grow up, couldn't hide his pride. "My granddaughter..." "...has truly become remarkable." Georgia's eyes became moist. "She used to play that piano every afternoon." "I can't believe she's all grown up now." Mark stood proudly near the stage. Every note Alicia played seemed to erase the exhaustion from the past few weeks.

Finally... The last note slowly faded away. Silence. For one brief moment... No one moved. Then... Thunderous applause erupted throughout the hall. The sound echoed across the entire mansion. Several guests even stood to applaud. Alicia stood from the piano and gave a graceful bow. When she looked toward me... I smiled proudly before giving her a thumbs-up. She smiled back.

The evening slowly drew to a close. One by one... Guests began saying their goodbyes. Sarah stood up first. She gently rubbed her forehead. "I'm getting sleepy." Samantha smiled knowingly. "You've been saying that all evening." Sarah laughed softly. The two sisters walked over to congratulate us one final time. "Congratulations again," Sarah said warmly. "Thank you for inviting us." Alicia hugged her gently. "Drive safely." Samantha forced a smile. "We'll meet again soon."

After saying goodbye, they quietly left the Mooney residence. Not long afterwards... Laura and Bright also came over. Laura smiled brightly. "We'll visit again." Bright nodded. "And next time..." "...hopefully without causing trouble." Everyone laughed. Soon, they also departed.

Chris and his family stayed a little longer before preparing to leave as well. Valeria hugged Alicia tightly. "My daughter..." "Take good care of this stubborn boy." Alicia smiled. "I will, Mother." Valeria looked completely satisfied with that answer.

Quinton and Mary remained chatting happily with Peter and Georgia. After a while, Dad turned toward me. "Son..." "Are you coming home with us?" Before I could answer... Alicia quietly tugged at my sleeve. I understood immediately. "We'll be there shortly." Dad nodded without thinking much of it. The adults continued talking.

Taking advantage of the distraction... Alicia and I quietly slipped away. Neither of us wanted another round of congratulations. A few minutes later... Her Maserati slowly left the Mooney residence and drove toward my home. Back at the mansion... Nearly twenty minutes passed before Mary suddenly looked around. "Where's Mike?" Peter blinked. "...Wasn't he with Alicia?"

Everyone searched the hall. Nothing. Even outside... There was no sign of us. Mark couldn't help laughing. "It seems..." "...our children have already left." Mary sighed dramatically. "That boy..." "He didn't even tell us." Everyone burst into laughter.

Meanwhile... Alicia parked outside my house. The neighbourhood was completely quiet. Only the soft glow from the porch light welcomed us home. We entered quietly. The moment I closed my bedroom door behind us... Both our phones rang almost simultaneously. Alicia looked at her screen. "Dad." I looked at mine. "Mom." We exchanged helpless smiles before answering. "Hello?"

Mark's voice came first. "Young lady..." "Where are you?" Alicia smiled innocently. "Don't worry, Dad." "I'll see you tomorrow." Without giving him another chance to ask questions... She quickly ended the call. On my side... Mom sounded worried. "Son..." "Where are you?" "Is everything alright?" I laughed. "Mom..." "I'm home." "Don't worry." She finally sighed in relief. "Alright." The call ended.

The room suddenly became quiet. Only the two of us remained. Alicia slowly looked up at me. Her confident, sharp-tongued personality disappeared. In its place... Was a shy young woman. I gently held her hands. She didn't pull away. Instead... She stepped closer.

I brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear before gently kissing her. She smiled. Then she wrapped her arms around me. Neither of us spoke. Words were unnecessary. The long day... The excitement... The nervousness... Everything slowly melted away as we embraced one another. Outside... The night grew quieter. Inside... We simply enjoyed being together, knowing that a new chapter of our lives had finally begun.

Early the following morning... The peaceful silence was broken by the ringing of Alicia's phone. She lazily reached for it without even opening her eyes. "...Hello..." Her sleepy voice immediately woke me up. I heard Mark's voice from the other side. "Daughter." "You're still not home?" She yawned. "Dad..." "It's only six in the morning." "I'm still sleeping."

Mark laughed helplessly. "Fine." "I'll let you sleep." "But don't disappear for another day." "I won't." The call ended. Alicia stretched lazily before looking at me. "I think..." "I should move half my wardrobe into your room." I laughed. "Half?" She grinned. "For now." We both got ready before walking downstairs together. Still laughing... Still talking...

Neither of us expected what we were about to see. The moment we reached the bottom step... We froze. Alicia rubbed her eyes in disbelief. I looked around my own living room, completely confused. "...I'm at home..." I slowly turned toward Alicia. "...then how are they here?"
