C163 Get Dressed

Sarah continued hugging both of her parents for several more moments. The fear that had weighed on her heart for weeks... ...finally began to disappear. She had expected anger. She had prepared herself for disappointment. She had even imagined being asked to leave the Wood family. But instead... Her parents had chosen to stand beside her.

Kelvin smiled helplessly before gently patting her shoulder. "Alright..." "That's enough." Sarah looked up. Her eyes were still red from crying. Kelvin chuckled. "Don't get too excited yet." She blinked. He continued, "If you decide to continue your relationship with Christopher..." "Then sooner or later..." "...you'll have to get married."

He paused briefly. "And marriage isn't something between two people." "It's between two families." Sarah nodded obediently. "I understand, Dad." Kelvin continued, "So before anything else..." "We need to meet his parents." "We need to know what kind of family raised such a young man." Sarah smiled brightly. "Don't worry, Dad." "They already know."

Both Kelvin and Tracy frowned simultaneously. "...Know what?" Sarah answered honestly. "They know about the baby." Silence. Tracy slowly narrowed her eyes. "They..." "...know?" Sarah nodded innocently. "Yes." "Aunt Valeria already knows." "So does Aunt Mary." "They even congratulated me yesterday during Mike and Alicia's engagement."

The smile on Tracy's face slowly disappeared. She looked directly at her daughter. "You told them..." "...before telling your own mother?" Sarah's smile froze. "No!" "I didn't!" "It wasn't me." "It was Chris." "He told them." Tracy folded her arms. "But you still kept it from us."

Sarah lowered her head guiltily. "I..." "I didn't know how to tell you." "I was scared." "I thought you'd both hate me." The disappointment on Tracy's face immediately softened. She sighed before gently rubbing Sarah's head. "Silly child..." "You're our daughter." "Even if we're disappointed..." "We could never hate you."

Sarah smiled weakly. Then another thought suddenly crossed her mind. She slowly looked toward Kelvin. "Dad..." Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "What is it?" Sarah hesitated for a moment. Then she asked quietly, "You told me..." "...that I should think like the Director of a company." Kelvin nodded. "So..." "What if people discover..." "...that the Director of Wood IT Company..." "...was made pregnant by one of her own employees?" The room instantly became silent.

Even Tracy couldn't answer. Kelvin slowly rubbed his chin. His expression became thoughtful. It wasn't because he looked down on Christopher. It was because... The public wouldn't care about the truth. People loved gossip. They loved creating stories. Within days... The company would become the centre of endless rumours. Some would claim Sarah abused her authority. Others would accuse Chris of chasing wealth. The company's reputation... And Sarah's image... Could both be affected.

After thinking quietly for nearly a minute... Kelvin finally stood up. He looked toward his wife. Then toward Sarah. His decision had already been made. "Get dressed." Sarah blinked. "...Dad?" "We're going out." She looked confused. "Where?" Kelvin smiled mysteriously. "You'll find out soon enough." "But before rumours reach us..." "We'll take the first step ourselves."

Tracy immediately understood what her husband was thinking. A smile appeared on her face. "I'll get ready." She turned and walked toward their bedroom. Sarah stood there completely confused. "...Dad?" Kelvin looked back at her. "We're going to pay someone a visit." Before she could ask another question... Both of her parents had already disappeared upstairs.

Sarah remained standing alone in the hallway. She blinked several times. "...Visit?" "...Who?" Then... Realization slowly dawned on her. Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated. "Could it be..." She quickly covered her mouth. "No..." "They can't possibly mean..." Before she could finish thinking... Kelvin's voice echoed from upstairs. "Sarah!" "Hurry up." "We're leaving soon."

Still stunned... She slowly nodded. "...Y-Yes, Dad." Just as she was about to return to her room... Tracy suddenly walked toward another bedroom. Knock. Knock. Knock. The door slowly opened. Samantha appeared while carrying little Monica in her arms. She looked surprised. "Mother?" Without wasting any time... Tracy smiled gently. "Get dressed." "You and Monica are coming with us." Samantha blinked. "...We're going too?" Tracy nodded. "Yes." "It's a family visit." Then, without explaining anything further... She turned around and left.

Samantha remained standing at the doorway. Looking at Monica... Then toward the direction Tracy had disappeared... She whispered softly, "...A family visit?" Her thoughts immediately began racing. Could it be... Were they really going... To visit Chris? Or perhaps... His parents? She lowered her gaze toward the little girl in her arms. Monica smiled innocently before grabbing one of Samantha's fingers.

Samantha couldn't help smiling back. "Looks like..." "...Grandpa has already made up his mind." She gently kissed Monica's forehead. "Come on." "Let's get dressed." She carefully laid Monica on the bed before opening the wardrobe. One beautiful dress after another appeared before her. She finally chose a light cream-coloured dress for herself and a tiny pink outfit for Monica.

As she helped her daughter get dressed, Samantha's thoughts became increasingly complicated. If the Wood family truly accepted Chris... Then Sarah's future would finally have a chance to be happy. But... What about herself? Her own marriage... Had long become nothing more than a title. She loved Mike once. Deeply. Yet today... She could only watch from afar as he built a new life with Alicia.

She sighed softly. "Maybe..." "Some people are simply destined to miss each other." She looked down at Monica again. "But..." "I still have you." Monica giggled happily, making Samantha smile despite the sadness lingering in her heart. A few minutes later... The entire Wood family had finished preparing. Kelvin adjusted his suit in front of the mirror. Tracy picked up a beautifully wrapped gift from the table. Sarah nervously held her handbag with both hands. Her palms were already sweating.

She knew exactly where they were going now. To the Chambers family. To meet Chris's parents. To discuss... Their future. And perhaps... The future of the little life growing quietly inside her. As Kelvin walked toward the front door, he turned back and looked at his family. "Is everyone ready?" Three voices answered at the same time. "Yes." Kelvin nodded with satisfaction. "Good." "Then let's go."
