C171 They Have A Marriage Certificate
The romantic atmosphere inside the cinema only grew stronger as the movie continued. One touching scene after another played across the giant screen, making the audience laugh, smile, and even shed a few tears. Without realizing it, I tightened my grip around Alicia's soft hand. She didn't resist. Instead, her fingers gently intertwined with mine as she rested comfortably beside me.
Behind us, Chris and Sarah were also holding hands. Sarah's cheeks had turned slightly pink, though she tried her best to focus on the movie instead of the warmth of Chris's hand. As the movie reached its most romantic scene, the male lead slowly leaned forward and kissed the heroine. The entire cinema fell silent.
Almost instinctively, I turned toward Alicia. Our eyes met. She blinked twice, her beautiful eyes reflecting the light from the movie screen. Neither of us spoke. I gently brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear before slowly leaning closer. Alicia understood my intention almost immediately. Her heartbeat quickened. "Mike..." she whispered shyly. Before she could finish her sentence, I softly kissed her.
It was only a brief kiss, but it was enough to make Alicia's entire face turn crimson. She lowered her head immediately afterward, unable to look me in the eyes. Behind us, Chris had witnessed everything. He looked at Sarah with hopeful eyes before slowly leaning toward her. Sarah immediately understood what he wanted. She gently pressed a finger against his lips to stop him. "My love," she whispered softly, "remember... they are married." "We're not."
Chris immediately looked wronged. "So?" "So..." Sarah answered while trying not to laugh, "they have a marriage certificate." "We don't." Chris sighed dramatically. "How unfair." Sarah giggled. "It isn't unfair." "It simply means you'll have to wait." Chris folded his arms like a child who had just been refused candy. "I've already waited long enough." Sarah smiled warmly. "Then wait a little longer." "The sweeter the reward, the more patient you should be."
Chris looked completely unconvinced. I quietly leaned over and whispered to Alicia, "I suddenly feel sorry for my brother." Alicia covered her mouth as she laughed. "I don't." "He deserves it." Chris immediately heard her. "Sister!" "What kind of sister-in-law are you?" Alicia smiled mischievously. "The honest kind." Everyone laughed quietly, careful not to disturb the other people watching the movie.
The romantic film soon came to an end. As the lights inside the cinema brightened, Alicia was still blushing from the kiss. She deliberately avoided looking at me. I simply smiled, enjoying how adorable my wife looked whenever she became shy. The four of us slowly walked back toward the underground parking lot while chatting about the movie.
Once everyone had settled inside the Maserati, Alicia started the engine. Before she could drive away, Chris suddenly turned toward Sarah. Without giving her time to react... He gently cupped her face and kissed her. Sarah's eyes widened in surprise. For a brief second she froze. Then, instead of pulling away, she slowly closed her eyes and returned the kiss.
The entire car became unusually quiet. Alicia and I instinctively turned around. The moment we saw them, we froze. Neither of us interrupted. Instead, we exchanged amused smiles. A few seconds later, the two finally separated. Sarah's face had become as red as a ripe apple. She lowered her head in embarrassment. Chris, on the other hand, looked extremely satisfied.
He proudly looked at me. "See, Brother?" "We can kiss too." "Even though i am not a prisoner like you..." "See there'sno difference." I burst into laughter. "So that's what you've been waiting for?" Chris nodded proudly. "Exactly." Sarah lightly pinched his arm. "You always have to compete with Mike." Chris smiled shamelessly. "Of course." "He's my brother." "If I can't beat him in basketball..." "Then I'll beat him somewhere else." Everyone laughed again.
After thinking for a moment, Sarah suddenly looked at Chris. "Wait..." "You said you can kiss me even though you're 'not a prisoner.'" "What exactly did you mean by that?" Chris blinked. I immediately laughed. Alicia almost couldn't hold the steering wheel because she was laughing so hard. Chris scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "I... um..." "I meant..." He looked at me helplessly. "Brother, save me."
I shook his head. "No chance." "You dug this hole yourself." Sarah folded her arms. "So..." "If marriage is prison..." "Does that mean you don't intend to marry me?" Chris's confident expression disappeared instantly. "What?" "No!" "I never said that!" He quickly reached for Sarah's hand. "I'll definitely marry you." "I'll marry you as soon as possible." Sarah finally smiled again. "That's better."
I laughed. "Brother, you've finally learned." Chris sighed dramatically. "I've learned that arguing with women is impossible." Alicia nodded seriously. "Correct." "And your first lesson is free." Everyone burst into laughter once more. Soon the car arrived outside the Wood residence. Sarah slowly unfastened her seat belt. Before getting out, she turned toward Chris. For a brief moment, she simply looked at him. Then she unexpectedly stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him.
Chris smiled happily as he returned the hug. "I miss you already," he said softly. Sarah smiled. "I'm only going home." "We'll see each other tomorrow." Chris shook his head dramatically. "You don't understand." "You're leaving me alone with these two lovebirds." "How am I supposed to survive?" I laughed. "Poor Brother." Alicia added, "We'll pray for you." Sarah couldn't stop laughing.
She gently patted Chris's shoulder. "Behave yourself." "I'll see you tomorrow." She waved goodbye before walking through the gates of the Wood residence. The three of us watched until she disappeared inside. Afterward, Alicia drove toward the Chambers residence. Chris got out while still pretending to wipe away imaginary tears. "My girlfriend abandoned me." "You two abandoned me." "My life is miserable."
I laughed. "Go inside before your parents think we bullied you." Chris pointed at both of us. "I'll remember today." One day I'll make both of you jealous too." Alicia laughed. "We're looking forward to it." Chris waved before finally walking into the house. Once he was gone, the Maserati quietly pulled away. For a few minutes, neither Alicia nor I spoke. I suddenly noticed she wasn't driving toward my house. Instead, she turned into a nearby supermarket parking lot.
I looked at her curiously. "Wife..." "Why are we here?" Alicia smiled as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. "To buy groceries." I blinked. "Groceries?" She nodded. "I told you earlier." "I want to cook dinner for my family tonight." My heart immediately softened. "But..." "You've been working all day." "You already cooked for Wood's family." "You've been driving us around since lunch." "And now you still want to cook?" "You're exhausted."
Alicia simply smiled. "I know." "But I promised." "And I always keep my promises." I looked at her for several seconds before smiling helplessly. "Then I'm helping." She shook her head immediately. "No." "You've already done enough today." I crossed my arms. "If you refuse..." "Then I won't let my wife cook while she's this tired." She laughed. "So you're threatening me now?" "I'm protecting you."
She stared at me for a few seconds before finally surrendering. "Fine." "But you're only carrying the groceries." "No chopping vegetables." "No cooking." I smiled triumphantly. "We'll negotiate that later." Laughing together, the two of us stepped out of the car and walked hand in hand into the supermarket, ready to buy everything they needed before heading to the Mooney residence for another warm family dinner.
