C202 Blue Hyundai or Red Volkswagen

Mary nodded proudly as she looked at the overflowing drawer beside Alicia's hospital bed. "Yes," she replied with a smile. "I bought all of them." "My daughter-in-law is pregnant now. She needs plenty of vitamins, so I went and bought every fresh fruit I could find." She gently patted Alicia's hand before continuing, "I don't know which ones she'll feel like eating, so I simply bought a variety."

Peter looked at the drawer, then at the pile of fruit still sitting on the small table. Apples, oranges, grapes, pears, bananas, strawberries and kiwis filled every available space. He couldn't help but laugh. "Mary, are you planning to open a fruit market inside this hospital?" The room erupted with laughter. Mary folded her arms and looked at Peter. "What do you know? A pregnant woman needs proper nutrition." "If my granddaughter-in-law feels like eating something, it should already be here."

Georgia smiled warmly. "I think you're right." "Besides, seeing so much fruit makes the room feel more lively." Alicia lowered her head shyly. "I... I can't possibly finish all of this." Mary immediately objected. "Who said you have to finish it today?" "You'll stay here for two days." "And if these aren't enough, I'll buy more." Everyone laughed once again. Looking at the warm smiles surrounding her, Alicia instinctively rested one hand on her lower abdomen.

Although the doctor had said her pregnancy was still in its earliest stage... Knowing that everyone already cared so much for her and the baby made her heart overflow with warmth. She smiled softly. "Thank you, Aunt Mary." Mary's eyes brightened immediately. "There..." "That's much better." "I was beginning to wonder why you suddenly started calling me 'Aunt' again." Alicia paused for a moment. She remembered the memories that had resurfaced the previous night... memories of her own mother.

A trace of sadness flashed across her eyes before she smiled again. "I'm sorry." Mary gently squeezed her hand. "You don't have to apologize." "No matter what happens..." "I'll always be your mother too." Those simple words warmed Alicia's heart. She nodded gratefully. "I know." As everyone finished arranging the breakfast on the small table beside Alicia's bed, the atmosphere inside the VIP room became warm and lively.

Seeing both families gathered around her made Alicia forget, if only for a moment, that she was lying in a hospital bed. She suddenly looked at me. "Mike..." I looked up. "Yes, Wife?" She tilted her head slightly. "How are you going to work today?" Before I could answer, Peter was about to speak, but Alicia turned toward him first. "Grandpa." Peter smiled. "Yes, my child?"

Alicia spoke confidently. "Mike and I are using the same bank account now." "So... we want to buy the red Volkswagen that's been sitting in the garage for years." She smiled mischievously. "No one drives it anyway." "We'll transfer the money to you today." The room suddenly became quiet. Mark lowered his head, trying his best not to laugh. He knew that earlier that morning his father had already handed me the keys to the blue Hyundai i20 without asking for anything in return.

He folded his arms and quietly waited to see how Peter would respond. Peter looked at Alicia for a few seconds before slowly turning toward me. "Mike." "Which one do you prefer?" "The red Volkswagen..." "...or that one?" I blinked in confusion. Alicia frowned. "What do you mean, Grandpa?" "Did something happen that I don't know about?" Georgia smiled gently before answering. "This morning..." "Your grandfather gave Mike the blue Hyundai i20." "He even drove it here himself."

Alicia's beautiful eyes widened. She immediately looked at Peter. "Grandpa..." Peter laughed heartily. "Don't look at me like that." "I simply gave him a car." "There's nothing to worry about." He pointed toward me. "The choice is still his." "If he likes the Volkswagen more, he can have that instead." Immediately... Everyone's eyes landed on me. I suddenly felt incredibly embarrassed.

I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly before smiling helplessly. "I..." "I honestly don't know anything about cars." "They all look the same to me." "So..." "I'll let my wife decide." The moment those words left my mouth... Alicia burst into laughter. "There!" She pointed at me triumphantly. "Did everyone hear that?" "My husband has already entrusted me with the decision."

She looked back at Peter with a bright smile. "Grandpa..." "The red Volkswagen." Peter laughed so hard that tears nearly formed in his eyes. "You two really are something." Throughout the conversation, Mary had remained unusually quiet. She looked from Peter... ...to Alicia... ...then back at me. Finally, she couldn't hold herself back anymore. "I really don't understand the rich world." Everyone turned toward her.

She continued with genuine confusion. "You people are talking about cars..." "...as though they're packets of sweets." She looked at Peter. "How can you simply give someone a car..." "...and expect absolutely nothing in return?" The room instantly erupted into laughter. Peter wiped the tears from laughing. "Mary..." "To us..." "Mike is already family." "What belongs to our family..." "Will eventually belong to him too." Mary shook her head helplessly. "I still can't get used to hearing things like that."

Alicia suddenly picked up her phone. "That's exactly why I said we'll buy it." Everyone looked at her curiously. She smiled warmly. "I don't want Grandpa to think we're accepting it because he feels sorry for Mike..." "...or because he is doing us a favor." "My husband has his own dignity." "So..." "We're buying it." Her fingers quickly moved across the banking application.

A few seconds later. Peter's phone vibrated. Ding! He casually glanced at the notification. The moment he saw the amount... He nearly choked. "Cough... cough..." Everyone hurriedly looked toward him. "Grandpa!" "Are you alright?" Peter coughed several more times before finally holding up his phone. "My child..." "I thought you were joking." "How can I sell you something that already belongs to you?"

Alicia smiled innocently. "Because it won't belong to me." "It will belong to Mike." Mark could no longer suppress his laughter. He looked at his daughter teasingly. "So..." "My daughter has become wealthy." "I wonder what kind of job she has..." "...to casually transfer money like this." Alicia immediately became embarrassed. "Dad..." "Don't tease me." "You know I'm the Director now." "I'll earn plenty of money in the future." "So I might as well spend the savings that you gave me."

Georgia couldn't help laughing. She turned toward Peter. "Husband..." "How much did she transfer?" Peter stared at the notification once more before slowly replying, "Thirty thousand dollars." Silence. Even Mary gasped. "$30,000... just like that?" Alicia covered her face in embarrassment. "Dad..." "Grandma..." "Please stop making it sound so dramatic." "I'm only buying my husband's car." Laughter once again filled the hospital room.

The warm, joyful atmosphere made Alicia forget she was lying in a hospital bed, while both families quietly realized that no matter how successful or wealthy she became, the thing she treasured most was never money. It was the people she loved. Just then, Mark glanced at the time on his wristwatch. His expression became serious. "I'm afraid I have to leave." "As Police Minister, I can't afford to be late."

Peter nodded in understanding. "Go." "We'll stay here with Alicia." Mark walked over to the bedside. He looked at his daughter lovingly. "My child..." "I'll come back immediately after work." "You just focus on resting." Alicia smiled obediently. "I will, Dad." Mark then turned toward me. "Mike." "The company will be relying on you today." "I know it's only your second day..." "But I trust you." I nodded firmly. "I won't disappoint you."

He smiled with satisfaction before patting my shoulder. "I know you won't." I looked toward Alicia. She was already watching me. Our eyes met. She smiled gently. "Mike..." I walked over and held her hand. "Yes?" "You'll be busy today." "Please don't overwork yourself." "I know the inspectors still need to be appointed, and there are many things waiting for you..." "But don't carry everything alone."

I smiled reassuringly. "I'll manage." She tightened her grip slightly. "If anything becomes too difficult..." "Call me." "I may be in the hospital..." "But I'm still the Director." Everyone laughed softly. I leaned closer and smiled. "The Director's first responsibility right now is to recover." "The company can wait." She pouted slightly. "It can't." I chuckled. "Then I'll do my best until you come back."

She finally nodded. "Promise me you won't skip lunch." "I won't." "And don't stay in the office until midnight." "I won't." "And don't forget to drink water." Peter burst into laughter. "My granddaughter has become quite the wife." Georgia nodded with a smile. "She sounds exactly like a worried mother." Alicia's cheeks instantly turned crimson. "Grandma..." Everyone laughed again.

I gently squeezed her hand one last time. "Rest well." "I'll come back after work." She smiled softly. "I'll be waiting." After saying goodbye to everyone, Mark and I quietly left the hospital room. The door closed gently behind us. Inside the room, only Peter, Georgia, Mary and Alicia remained. For a few moments, no one spoke. Peter cleared his throat. "Ahem..." He looked toward Mary as though he wanted to bring up something important. His expression gradually became serious.

Georgia noticed the change immediately. She exchanged a brief glance with him but remained silent. Just as Peter opened his mouth to speak. A knock sounded at the door. Everyone turned toward the entrance. The door slowly opened. Quinton stepped inside carrying two plastic shopping bags. One bag was filled with fresh fruits. The other contained takeaway roasted chilli chicken, freshly baked bread rolls and beef burgers. The moment he entered, he froze. His eyes swept across the room filled with the Mooney family.

Mary looked at him in surprise. "Quinton..." "I didn't tell you anything." "How did you know?" Quinton blinked in confusion. Her question caught him completely off guard. He looked from Mary... to Peter... to Georgia... and finally toward Alicia lying in the hospital bed. His brows knitted together. "Know what?" He raised the shopping bags slightly before asking in confusion, "What happened?"
