C256 Is Your Wife Pregnant

After the board meeting ended, the executives gradually returned to their respective offices. Many of them were still discussing the decision Sarah had made. "I have to admit," one executive said as they walked down the corridor, "I opposed the Spain National Bank proposal at first." "So did I."

Another admitted. "But after hearing Director Sarah explain the conditions, I realized she was looking much further ahead than the rest of us." "The permanent two percent ownership is indeed valuable." "And she also avoided exposing the company to unlimited financial liability." "It seems the Director really knows what she's doing." The conversations continued as everyone dispersed. Meanwhile, Chris walked quietly toward his office.

Although he had remained calm during the meeting, he was still surprised by Sarah's decision. "She really thought everything through," he mused. "No wonder she never discussed it with me beforehand. She had already made up her mind." A small smile appeared on his face. "My wife really is amazing." His secretary, Amanda, followed closely behind, carrying several files. The moment they entered the office and the door closed behind them, Amanda suddenly burst into laughter.

Chris stopped walking and turned around in confusion. "What's so funny?" Amanda immediately covered her mouth. "I'm sorry, Boss..." "I really tried to hold it in." Chris raised an eyebrow. "What exactly are you laughing at?" Amanda shook her head while trying to stop smiling. "It's nothing." Chris folded his arms. "I don't believe you." Amanda laughed again before finally speaking. "Boss..." "Your wife is pregnant, isn't she?" Chris froze. "...What?"

Amanda nodded confidently. "I'm serious." "It wasn't only me." "Almost every woman in that boardroom noticed." Chris blinked several times. "Noticed... what exactly?" Amanda pointed toward her own stomach. "The Director." "Her pregnancy is starting to show." Chris finally understood. "So that's what you meant..." Amanda giggled. "You men really don't notice these things." "But women do." "The Director's face has become slightly fuller." "Her movements are more careful." "And..."

Amanda smiled mischievously. "She's beginning to have a baby bump." Chris couldn't help smiling. "So all of you noticed?" Amanda nodded. "Every woman there." "We simply chose not to mention it." Chris sighed helplessly. "I suppose there's no hiding it anymore." Amanda laughed. "There never was." After a brief silence she leaned forward slightly. "So..." "Congratulations, Boss." Chris scratched the back of his head awkwardly." Thank you."

Amanda smiled warmly. "I'm genuinely happy for both of you." "The Director works so hard." "I hope she remembers to rest." Chris nodded. "I've been telling her the same thing." "But you already know Sarah." Amanda laughed. "She only rests after everyone forces her to." Both of them chuckled. Then Chris suddenly remembered something. "Amanda." "Yes, Boss?" "As my secretary..." "You're also responsible for making sure I eat properly during work, aren't you?"

Amanda nodded immediately. "Of course." "That's part of my responsibilities." Chris smiled. "Very good." Amanda looked confused. " Why are you asking?" Chris leaned back in his chair. "Because from today onward..." "...you have another responsibility." Amanda blinked. "What is it?" Chris smiled proudly. "When my wife comes to visit..." "I expect you to make sure she eats before she leaves."

Amanda burst into laughter. "So that's your real concern!" Chris nodded seriously. "I'm completely serious." "If she's busy working and forgets to eat..." "You remind her." "If she refuses..." "You call me." Amanda laughed even harder. "Boss..." "You really spoil your wife." Chris smiled without denying it. "She's carrying my child." "I think she deserves to be spoiled." Amanda couldn't argue with that.

She smiled warmly. "I'll gladly help." "Consider it done." "Thank you." Amanda nodded before leaving to continue her work. Chris leaned back in his chair after the office became quiet. His thoughts naturally drifted toward Sarah. "Soon..." "Everyone will know she's pregnant." "Our little family is slowly becoming bigger." He smiled unconsciously before returning to the stack of documents waiting on his desk.

Meanwhile... At Nova Blaze Jewelry, the atmosphere was completely different. Laura had adapted remarkably well to her role as Chief Design Inspector. After several weeks of learning the company's operations, she now understood almost every stage of production. The employees respected her. The designers admired her creativity. Even the production department had grown accustomed to her perfectionism.

Outside work, life had also become much happier. Bright remained as cheerful and talkative as ever. Although Laura was naturally quiet, she found herself smiling far more often than before. Sitting alone in her office, she reviewed several newly designed luxury watches awaiting final approval. As she picked up one elegant pair of matching watches, an old memory suddenly surfaced. Mike.

She smiled softly. "I hope you're happy now..." "I truly hope you and Alicia are living the life you both deserve." For a long moment she simply stared at the watches. Then her eyes widened. "Wait..." "I never gave them a wedding gift." She leaned back in her chair thoughtfully. "Everything happened so quickly." "I never even had the chance." Another smile appeared. "I may have lost the chance to be something more in Mike's life..." "...but that doesn't mean we can't be friends."

She gently turned the watches in her hands. "Perhaps this would be the perfect gift." Her eyes sparkled. "Matching watches for Mike and Alicia." Suddenly another thought crossed her mind. She laughed quietly. "But then..." "What about Mike's troublesome brother?" She remembered Chris and couldn't help shaking her head. "That man is always causing trouble." She smiled again. "I've never even heard him mention a girlfriend." "Could he still be single?"

After thinking for a moment she laughed at herself. "No..." "That can't be." "Someone like him must have found someone already." Finally reaching a decision, she picked up the office phone. "Production Department." "Good morning." "Hello, Portia." "Could you come to my office for a moment?" "Of course, Chief." "I'll be there immediately." Only a few minutes later, Portia knocked gently. "Chief?" "Come in."

Laura smiled. Portia entered carrying a notebook. "You called for me?" Laura held up the pair of watches. "These are the newest couple's edition, correct?" Portia nodded proudly. "Yes." "They were completed yesterday." "The production department is waiting for your approval before full manufacturing begins." Laura nodded thoughtfully. "I'd like another identical pair made." Portia looked surprised. "That won't be a problem." She hesitated before asking, "Have you already found buyers for them?"

Laura smiled mysteriously. "You could say that." She picked up a pen and wrote four names neatly on a sheet of paper. Mr M Smith. Mrs A Smith. Mr C Chambers. Mrs Chambers. She handed the paper to Portia. "I'd like these names engraved." "The men's watches should read 'Mr Smith' and 'Mr Chambers.'" "The women's watches should read 'Mrs Smith' and 'Mrs Chambers.'" Portia carefully read the paper before smiling. "I understand." "They'll become one-of-a-kind pieces."

Laura nodded. "Exactly." "They're gifts." Portia carefully picked up both the paper and the watches. "I'll personally supervise the engraving." Laura smiled warmly. "Thank you." After Portia left the office, Laura looked out through the large window. A gentle smile remained on her face. "Mike..." "Chris..." "I hope both of you treasure the families you've built." "Some people are simply meant to become memories..." "But that doesn't mean we stop wishing them happiness."

With that comforting thought, she returned to reviewing the next batch of jewelry designs, unaware that life was quietly preparing another unexpected surprise for everyone. Especially for her.
