C285 Who Exactly Is Your Husband

Ben did not waste another second. The moment he finished reading the article on his phone, he hurried downstairs. The atmosphere in the living room was completely different. Kelvin, Tracy, and Samantha were seated comfortably, discussing work matters over tea. Tracy looked at Samantha with a gentle smile. "Sam, I was wondering something." Samantha looked up. "Yes, Mom?" "I heard Sarah has started arranging foreign language lessons for the company."

She paused before asking curiously, "Are you planning to learn as well and help her? Or will Chris simply help her in everything?" The question caught Samantha completely off guard. She blinked. Sarah had never mentioned anything about whether Chris or her would help her or not. For a brief moment, she hesitated. Not wanting to disappoint her in-laws, she smiled warmly. "Mom, don't worry." "I'll learn as well." "If Sarah needs help, I'll help her however I can." Tracy smiled proudly. "I knew you would."

Just then... The front door opened. Sarah walked inside carrying her handbag. She smiled when she saw everyone gathered together. "What are we talking about?" Kelvin laughed. "Your sister just volunteered." Sarah looked confused. "Volunteered?" "Yes to help you learn foreign languages." Samantha immediately became speechless. A few seconds ago they were the ones asking me... Now they're making it sound as though I proudly volunteered.

Sarah burst into laughter before walking over and hugging Samantha. "My sister has changed so much these days." She smiled sincerely. "Thank you." Samantha smiled awkwardly. "I..." Before she could finish... A hurried set of footsteps echoed from the staircase. Everyone turned around. Ben stormed downstairs while holding his phone tightly. The moment he reached the living room, he stopped. Seeing everyone smiling and laughing only irritated him further.

He frowned. "Seriously?" "When something happens to her..." He pointed toward Samantha. "...everyone laughs." "But when it happened to me..." "You all acted serious and lectured me." The cheerful atmosphere instantly quietened. Sarah folded her arms. "What happened this time, Brother?" Ben looked at her in disbelief. "You don't know?" Sarah shook her head. "No." Without another word, Ben turned toward Samantha. His expression darkened. "You really never get tired of humiliating me, do you?"

To everyone's surprise... Samantha did not remain silent. The old Samantha might have lowered her head. But not anymore. She calmly met Ben's gaze. "Humiliating you?" She smiled faintly. "That still wouldn't be enough after everything you did." She leaned back against the sofa. "Tell me instead..." "What trouble have you caused this time?" Ben's face flushed with anger. He pointed at her. "You..." Then he took a deep breath. "You are still my wife." "So at least show me some respect."

Sarah immediately interrupted. "Respect isn't demanded." "It's earned." She looked directly at her brother. "If you respected Samantha first..." "She would probably respect you too." Ben ignored her completely. His attention never left Samantha. "You know very well those two brothers are my enemies." "And yet..." "You give Chris a ride?" His voice became louder. "Have the two of you become that close now?" "Isn't he Sarah's husband?"

He looked at Samantha's car keys lying on the table. "Or have you become so generous that you've turned your car into public transport?" Sarah and Samantha exchanged amused glances. Neither of them answered. Instead... Kelvin frowned in confusion. "Ben..." "What exactly are you talking about?" "And why do you keep calling Chris your enemy?" He sighed. "They've never harmed you." Ben looked at his father helplessly. "It's easy for you to say."

Without another word... He placed his phone on the coffee table. "Read it yourselves." Tracy picked it up first. The moment she read the headline... She couldn't help laughing. "What?" "The media is really this bored?" Kelvin reached over and took the phone. After reading the article, he also burst into laughter. "Now we even have paparazzi inside the company?" Sarah became curious. "Paparazzi?" She quickly grabbed the phone. The moment she saw the photographs... She laughed so hard she almost doubled over. "Sister!"

She pointed at Samantha while laughing. "You actually avenged your husband by giving my husband a ride!" Samantha blinked. "Avenged him?" She took the phone herself. The article showed photographs of Chris getting into her car outside Wood IT Company. The headline exaggerated everything. "Vice Director's Wife Finally Avenges Her Husband's Betrayal!" She couldn't believe it. "Who even wrote this?" Sarah wiped tears of laughter from her eyes. "Forget about who wrote it." "They're entertaining themselves."

She suddenly looked thoughtful. "So that's why Chris insisted on not getting into my car." Everything finally made sense. Meanwhile... Ben stood there with an ugly expression. He couldn't understand why everyone found this funny. "So..." He said bitterly. "Just like I said..." "You all laugh when my reputation gets ruined." Sarah slowly looked at him. "Brother..." "Can you remind me who created this situation in the first place?"

She folded her arms. "If nobody had seen you running around everywhere with Natalie..." "Would any of this even be happening?" Ben clicked his tongue. "You know what..." "Forget it." He turned toward Samantha again. "And you..." "Never forget that we're still legally married." "So your friends are my friends." "Your enemies are my enemies." "And the same applies to mine." Samantha looked at him calmly before smiling. "You keep creating problems." "And whenever those problems come back to haunt you..." "You blame someone else."

She shook her head. "I never hated Chris." "I never hated Mike." "Not even after everything that happened." She paused before continuing. "Both of them are married now." "And I'm married too." "So why would I suddenly start treating them like enemies?" She smiled faintly. "The only person thinking like that..." "...is you."Ben narrowed his eyes. "Oh?" "You mentioned you're married." He slowly stepped closer. "Then remind me..." "Who exactly is your husband?" "I don't seem to remember."

Samantha almost choked. She coughed twice before smiling sweetly. "My husband?" She nodded thoughtfully. "Oh..." "You mean the same husband who went outside..." "...found himself a scammer..." "...and got cheated out of two hundred thousand dollars?" Silence. Ben froze. His mouth opened... ...but no words came out. Sarah burst into loud laughter. Tracy laughed so hard she had to hold onto the armrest of the sofa. Even Kelvin struggled to keep a straight face.

Finally, he raised both hands. "Enough." He smiled helplessly. "Sarah... Samantha..." "At least tell us what really happened." "Otherwise my son is going to die from anger." Just then... A knock sounded at the front door. Everyone turned. A security guard entered the living room. Standing behind him was an elderly man whose clothes were wrinkled and dusty. His hair was messy. There were bruises visible on his face, and he looked as though he hadn't slept.

The guard respectfully bowed. "Boss..." "This gentleman says he needs to speak with your son." He stepped aside before leaving the room. Ben stared at the old man. Recognition immediately flashed across his face. It was Mr. Weatherby... The warehouse owner. Ben frowned in surprise. "Mr. Weatherby..." He slowly stood up. "What happened to you?" He looked at the bruises covering the old man's face. "You look like you've aged ten years overnight." He stepped closer. "Who did this to you?"
