C296 Friendly Reunions
As the movie came to an end and the lights inside the cinema slowly brightened, everyone stood up and stretched. Laura was undoubtedly the most excited. She could hardly contain herself as they walked out of the theatre. "I want to learn to drive like Noah!" she exclaimed excitedly. She turned to us, her eyes sparkling. "Did you all see that last corner she took? That drift was amazing! She handled it perfectly, but they robbed her."
Alicia laughed. "You were paying more attention to the driving than the romance." Laura nodded without hesitation. "Of course! That car chase was the best part." Sarah smiled. "I enjoyed the movie too." Soon the three women became absorbed in discussing Culpa Mía, talking about their favourite scenes and characters. Then Sarah suddenly smiled and said, "Although... I have to admit..." "Nicolás is really handsome." Chris, who had been quietly listening, immediately choked. "What?"
He stared at Sarah in disbelief. "You just complimented another man right in front of me!" His face turned slightly red. He pointed at her dramatically. "Say that again..." "...and you'll see how I punish you tonight." Sarah blinked innocently. "What?" "Am I wrong?" She looked at Alicia for support. "Alicia said I don't think.." Alicia had barely opened her mouth when I quickly interrupted. "Wife..." "If you agree with her and say he's handsome..." "...I'll punish you tonight too." Alicia immediately covered her mouth with both hands, trying to stop herself from laughing.
She shook her head repeatedly. "No comment." Laura looked between the couples in confusion. "What is going on?" "What punishment are you two talking about?" Chris couldn't stop laughing. "You won't understand." He looked at Bright before adding mischievously, "Your husband clearly isn't doing his job properly." I burst into laughter. Bright immediately protested. "Hey!" "I feel offended." "I always do my job properly." Chris folded his arms. "Oh really?" "Then where are the results?"
Bright instantly understood what Chris meant. He froze. His face slowly turned red. Laura also realised what they were talking about and immediately lowered her head in embarrassment. The rest of us burst into laughter. Bright pointed helplessly at Chris. "You really enjoy putting people in difficult situations." Chris grinned proudly. "Of course." The laughter continued all the way to the parking lot. Eventually, everyone reached their cars. "See you all soon." "Drive safely." After exchanging their goodbyes, everyone drove off in different directions.
Alicia and I headed home. Chris and Sarah stopped by a nearby restaurant to pick up dinner before driving to the Chambers residence. When they arrived, they were surprised to find David and Valeria sitting comfortably in the living room, chatting happily. The moment Chris entered, he looked at his mother in surprise. "Mom?" "Aren't you supposed to be working today?" Valeria laughed. "And miss the chance to spend time with my daughter-in-law?" "Not a chance."
Sarah immediately smiled and greeted them politely. "Good evening, Father." "Good evening, Mother." Both David and Valeria's faces lit up with joy. David quickly stood up. "Come, my child." "Come and sit beside us." Valeria gently held Sarah's hand before carefully looking at her growing baby bump. "Our little grandchild is growing well." "It's almost four months already." Sarah blushed and nodded. "Yes." She then lifted the takeaway bags she was carrying. "My cooking still needs a lot of practice..." "So I ordered dinner instead."
Valeria laughed warmly. "My child..." "You don't have to cook for us." "Just coming here is already enough." The family soon gathered around the dining table. Although Chris and Sarah had already eaten earlier, they still joined everyone for a few bites. Throughout dinner, Valeria barely stopped talking. "My child..." "Is this naughty boy behaving himself?" Sarah smiled. "Yes, Mother." Valeria narrowed her eyes at Chris. "I don't believe you." She continued, "I also heard you're learning Spanish." "Spanish isn't easy." "Don't overwork yourself." "You're pregnant."
Sarah smiled softly. "I'll be careful." As she listened to David and Valeria's constant concern, Sarah couldn't help comparing them to her own family. She had expected married life to be cold and distant. Instead... Her in-laws constantly worried about her health, her happiness, and even whether she was eating properly. The warmth she felt inside the Chambers family was something she had never imagined. After dinner, Chris and Sarah excused themselves and went upstairs to Chris's room.
At the Gomez residence... Laura practically skipped into the house carrying several shopping bags. Her smile never left her face. The moment she saw Godness, she ran over and hugged her tightly. "Mother!" "They accepted me!" "Look at everything we bought!" "I have friends now!" "I actually have two friends!" Godness smiled warmly before hugging her back. "My child..." "You've really changed." She gently touched Laura's cheek. "Seeing you this happy makes me happy too."
After releasing her, she teased, "Tell me..." "What would your employees think if they saw their serious boss acting like this?" Laura laughed happily. "They'd understand." "They'd know their boss is finally happy." Everyone laughed. Prince smiled. "It seems your mother and I worried for nothing." "You two clearly had a wonderful day." Laura laughed again. "Even though Bright wanted us to turn around and go home."
Bright scratched his head awkwardly. "Dad..." "Lucia Goods is enormous." "And Mike's wife is renovating one of the halls." "They're even building a training centre." "There'll be boxing rings..." "...and even a shooting range." Laura immediately nudged him. "Shhh..." "Can't you keep a secret?" Everyone laughed again before heading toward the dining room. Since Laura and Bright were still full from lunch, they didn't eat much. Instead, Laura excitedly carried all her shopping bags upstairs.
One by one, she changed into every outfit she had bought. Each time she came downstairs, she stood in front of everyone. "How do I look?" "Does this colour suit me?" "What about this one?" Godness and Prince happily complimented every outfit. Bright also smiled each time. "You look beautiful." By the time she tried on the last outfit, she suddenly remembered Sarah's words earlier that afternoon. Without hesitation, she picked up her phone and called her father.
A few moments later, the call connected. Josh's excited voice immediately came through. "Laura!" "My child!" "How are you?" "Are you doing well?" Laura smiled warmly. "I'm doing well, Dad." "I heard you haven't been feeling well." "I've been worried about you." "Please take care of your health." Josh froze for a moment before laughing softly. "My child..." "You're worried about me?" "So..." "You're no longer angry?" "You've forgiven me?"
Laura smiled. "Everything is in the past." "Guess what?" "I went out with my new friends today." Josh sounded genuinely surprised. "New friends?" "I don't remember you ever having friends." Laura laughed. "Well..." "I do now." "In fact..." "I have two." Josh smiled happily. "And who are these lucky friends?"
