C309 Will Mike Train

He seemed to be carefully considering every word his daughter had said. Finally, he shook his head. “No.” Sarah looked at him. “Dad...” “No, Sarah.” His voice was firm enough to stop her immediately. Kelvin leaned back in his chair. “I cannot allow you to involve yourself in this right now. You don't understand what you're getting yourself into. If you openly declare that you are on Mike and Alicia's side, the Harris family may eventually discover your connection to them.”

Sarah frowned. “But Dad, Chris is already involved.” “I know,” Kelvin replied. “Then how can you allow him to do it but not me?” “Because Chris is not carrying a child.” Sarah fell silent. Kelvin's expression softened. “And because you are my only daughter.” Sarah looked at him. Kelvin continued. “This isn't about whether I trust you. It isn't about whether I think you're weak. You are my daughter, and I know you are strong. But there is a difference between being strong and deliberately placing yourself in danger.”

Sarah lowered her eyes. Kelvin continued. “You can think about joining them after you give birth. But right now, your priority should be your health and the baby.” Tracy nodded. “Your father is right. Look at your stomach. Your pregnancy is already becoming obvious. You cannot suddenly start training like everyone else and expect nothing to happen.” Sarah sighed. She knew there was no point arguing further. “Fine.” Everyone relaxed slightly. “But,” Sarah added, “I already promised them that I would eventually join them. And Chris will join as well.” Everyone froze again.

Tracy looked at her in disbelief. “Does Chris understand how serious this is?” Before Sarah could answer, Samantha spoke. “Chris and Mike are inseparable. Even if he understands how dangerous it is, he will probably still do it.” Ben slowly raised his head. “You know him that well?” Samantha looked at him. “Of course I do. He's my brother-in-law.” Ben looked away. Sarah then noticed his expression. “What?” Ben looked back at her. “You mentioned a training hall earlier.”

Sarah nodded. “Yes.” He asked. “What exactly is this training hall?” Sarah explained, “It is a facility where everyone can learn fighting and self-defense.” Ben's eyes narrowed. “Mike will train there?” Sarah looked at him strangely. “Why?” Ben leaned forward. “Just answer me.” Sarah nodded. “Yes. Mike will train there. At least while Alicia is still pregnant, he will be the one doing most of the training.” Ben froze. For a moment, nobody spoke. Then Ben muttered, “So he will become stronger than me?”

Sarah blinked. “What?” Ben didn't wait for her to answer. “I have to train too.” Everyone stared at him. Ben pushed his chair back. “I'll build a training room in my bar.” Tracy looked at him in disbelief. “Ben…” But Ben was already standing. “I need to start planning the bar anyway. A training facility can be part of it.” Samantha sighed. “You're still competing with Mike?” Ben ignored her. He picked up his phone and stood up. “Good night, Mom. Good night, Dad.” Then he walked away.

Everyone remained silent. They exchanged confused looks. Tracy finally whispered, “What just happened?” Samantha shook her head. “He heard that Mike was going to train and suddenly decided he needed to train too.” Sarah sighed. “That's Ben.” Kelvin rubbed his forehead. “He really hasn't changed.” A few moments later, Sarah cleared her throat. “Mom, Dad, there's something else.” Kelvin looked at her. “What now?” Sarah smiled. “Samantha has decided to join our little circle.”

Kelvin looked at Samantha. “What do you mean?” Samantha smiled awkwardly. Sarah explained. “I didn't want to leave her behind again. Laura was invited, and she joined us. Alicia accepted her. Mike eventually accepted her too. So I thought Samantha should have the same opportunity.” Kelvin frowned. “You mean Samantha is going to start spending time with Mike and Alicia?” Sarah nodded. “Yes.” Tracy looked between the two sisters. “And you're sure this won't cause problems?”

Samantha answered this time. “I don't think it will.” She took a breath. “I've already let go of what happened between Mike and me. I don't want to keep living in the past.” Kelvin remained quiet for a moment. Sarah added. “Mike made it clear that he has no hatred toward Samantha. He only felt hurt because she disappeared without explaining everything. As long as she respects his marriage to Alicia and doesn't come with bad intentions, she's welcome.” Kelvin and Tracy exchanged a glance.

Kelvin still looked concerned. “Sarah, we were already worried about you. Now that you're married to Chris, you're naturally connected to that family. And now you're bringing Samantha into it as well.” He looked directly at Samantha. “What happens if something happens to her?” Sarah shook her head. “Dad, joining us doesn't mean she has to fight anyone. She doesn't have to enter the training facility or participate in anything dangerous. She'll simply spend time with us.”

Kelvin thought about it. “So you simply don't want to leave her alone?” Sarah smiled. “Exactly.” Kelvin finally nodded. “As long as she isn't being placed in unnecessary danger, I won't stop her.” Sarah smiled brightly. “Thank you, Dad.” Kelvin raised one finger. “But if anything happens to her, remember that I will deal with you personally.” Sarah laughed. “Dad! Are you choosing your daughter-in-law over your own daughter?”

Kelvin chuckled. “My daughter-in-law?” Sarah nodded. “Yes. You're already treating Samantha like she's more important than me.” Kelvin laughed. “My daughter is also someone else's daughter-in-law now.” Sarah's smile disappeared for a second. “What does that mean?” Tracy laughed softly. “Don't think about it too much, child.” Sarah looked confused. “What are you talking about?” Tracy explained. “Daughters are eventually married and become part of another family. But daughter-in-law come into the family and become part of the family. That is simply how families work.”

Sarah stared at her mother. “So you're saying daughters-in-law are loved more than daughters?” Tracy laughed. “That's not what I said.” Kelvin smiled. “But there is some truth to it. Since you are already married, if Chris or his family ever decided that they wanted their daughter-in-law to stay with them, we can't simply refuse.” Sarah's eyes widened. “What?” Kelvin nodded. “You are still our daughter, but you are also part of another family now.”

Sarah crossed her arms. “No wonder they treated me that way.” Kelvin immediately stopped smiling. His expression became serious. “How did they treat you?” Sarah realized she had said too much. Tracy also looked at her. “What do you mean, Sarah?” Sarah hesitated. She looked toward Samantha, who was already watching her carefully. Kelvin leaned forward. “Sarah, what happened?”
