C311 Revenge Over My Life

Mark looked at his father for a moment before slowly shaking his head. “No, Dad. Police work doesn't involve just anyone. We didn't even know about the Maguire family until this morning when I received the call. Whatever happened to them is completely separate from our operation.” Peter remained silent, listening carefully. Mark continued, “But wait…” He suddenly frowned. “If they were responsible for what happened to the Maguire family, then their organization is much bigger than we originally thought.”

The room became quiet again. Mary was the first to respond. “Exactly.” She looked at Alicia and then at me. “That is why I don't want any of you getting involved with them. This has already gone far beyond a simple family dispute.” Her voice became more emotional. “We cannot lose our children because of a revenge that began years ago.” Georgia nodded immediately. “She is right. We have spent years trying to protect this family. We finally have our children, grandchildren, and everyone together. Why would we willingly put them in danger?”

Peter sighed. “It is already too late for that.” Everyone looked at him. Peter continued, “The licenses have already been approved. The training hall has been rebuilt. And if the Harris organization really has people inside Lucia Goods, then they probably already know what we are doing.” The worried expressions around the room became even more obvious. Alicia's smile disappeared. “Grandpa…” She looked around the room. “If you put it that way, how am I supposed to know who is working for them?”

She shook her head. “I can't simply fire everyone in the company because I suspect they might be connected to the Harris family.” Mark looked at her seriously. “My child, there is something I need to ask you one last time.” Alicia turned toward him. “What is it?” “Are you really this serious about going after them?” There was no hesitation in Alicia's answer. “Yes.” Her voice was calm, but the determination behind it was unmistakable. “They are heartless people. They think they can control everything because they have money, influence, and people willing to kill for them.”

She clenched her hands. “They kill innocent people as if human lives mean nothing.” She looked directly at Mark. “So yes, Father. I am going after them.” Mark's expression became heavy. “Even if it costs you your life?” Alicia didn't look away. “If that's what it takes for us to succeed.” Everyone froze. Mark sighed deeply. “You are even willing to lose your life?” Alicia nodded. “As long as we succeed, everyone will finally be able to live without looking over their shoulders.” Peter shook his head. “Alicia, it doesn't work that way.”

She looked at him. Peter continued, “Even if we succeed in destroying the Harris family, organizations like this don't simply disappear.” He leaned back. “Someone else always takes the position.” He paused. “I removed Frank years ago, but his brother Willy took over.” His expression became darker. “If Willy falls, someone else will take his place. And if that person falls, another person will rise.” Peter shook his head. “It is a never-ending cycle.”

Alicia remained quiet for several seconds. Then she smiled. “Then we'll go after every leader.” Peter stared at her. Alicia continued, “If we find Willy and eliminate his organization, then we deal with whoever tries to replace him.” She looked determined. “We don't have to stop with one person.” Peter sighed helplessly. “You really have already made up your mind, haven't you?” Alicia smiled. “Yes.”

Quinton had been quiet throughout the conversation. He stared at Alicia for several seconds. He had seen her determination before, but this was different. She wasn't simply angry. She had made a decision. Eventually, the conversation ended, and it was time for dinner. Because we had remained at Lucia Goods for so long, dinner was delayed. By the time we finally sat down, everyone was already hungry. The conversation at the table was lighter than before. Nobody wanted to continue discussing the Harris family while eating.

After dinner, everyone slowly returned to their rooms. When Alicia and I finally entered ours, I closed the door behind us. For a few moments, neither of us said anything. I looked at her. “Wife.” She turned toward me. “Hmm?” I hesitated. “What exactly did you mean earlier when you said even if you lose my life?” Alicia froze. She knew exactly what I was referring to. I walked closer to her. “Your life is more important than revenge.” She looked at me quietly. “And if you leave me, what am I supposed to do?”

The confidence on Alicia's face faded. She lowered her eyes. I continued softly. “I don't care how powerful the Harris family is. I don't care how many people they have. I don't want to win a war if winning means losing you.” Alicia looked back at me. “That is exactly why we have to train.” I frowned slightly. “What do you mean?” “My grandfather has already increased the security around the house, so for now we are protected.” She paused. “But sooner or later, we won't always be able to hide behind security.”

She looked directly into my eyes. “When that time comes, we have to be able to protect ourselves.” I sighed. “You really won't change your mind.” Alicia smiled. “Why would i do that .” I couldn't help but laugh. “That's the Alicia I know.” She smiled before changing the subject. “Earlier, you said you wanted to hold the opening of the training hall tomorrow.” I nodded. “Yes.” “I've already thought about it.” She sat down on the edge of the bed. “Then I will inform everyone that workday tomorrow will end early. So from one until five, we can hold the opening.”

She looked at me. “Since you already have a plan, I'll leave the rest to you.” I smiled. “No problem. I'll prepare a few words.” Alicia narrowed her eyes. “Just a few words?” “Yes.” She stared at me suspiciously. “You still don't want to tell me what you're planning?” I shook my head. “No.” She crossed her arms. “You're really going to make me wait until tomorrow?” I smiled. “You'll know tomorrow.” Alicia snorted. “You're enjoying this, aren't you?” “Maybe a little.”

She shook her head. “I knew you were hiding something.” Before I could answer, both our phones suddenly began ringing. We looked at each other. I immediately laughed. “It's probably Chris.” Alicia reached for her phone. But the moment she looked at the screen, her expression changed. “It isn't Chris.” I looked at her. “Who is it?” She turned the screen toward me. “Sarah.” I raised an eyebrow. “That is unusual. Chris is usually the one who always start the video calls.” Alicia answered. “Hello, Sarah?”
