C312 Beg Her To Kiss Me
The moment we answered the call, Chris also appeared on the screen. He looked just as surprised to see who called as we were. He immediately looked at Sarah. “Wife, you called first?” Before Sarah could answer, Chris suddenly laughed and pointed at us through the screen. “Brother, are you still going to claim that this whole video-call idea was my plan?” Sarah became speechless. Alicia and I burst out laughing.
Chris leaned back against the headboard, looking extremely pleased with himself. “I told you,” he continued. “Everyone is addicted to these calls now. But somehow, I am still the one who gets blamed.” Sarah rolled her eyes. “Chris, please. Nobody is blaming you.” “You just said that because you need something from me.” “What do I need from you?” “My forgiveness.” Sarah stared at him for a moment before laughing. “You really haven't forgotten that?” “Never.” I shook my head. “My brother really knows how to hold a grudge.”
Chris pointed at me. “And you should be supporting me.” Alicia laughed softly. “Mike supporting you would only make things worse.” Chris sighed dramatically. “See? I am surrounded by traitors.” Sarah shook her head before returning to the reason she had called. “Anyway, I have something important to discuss.” She paused for a moment before looking at Alicia. “I don't have Laura's number. Can one of you add her?” Alicia immediately shook her head. “Neither do I.” She then looked at me. “Mike, you have her number. Add her.” Chris suddenly raised his hand. “Wait.” Everyone looked at him.
He narrowed his eyes. “If we are adding Laura, does that mean Bright is coming too?” Nobody answered. Chris slowly looked around the screen. “I clearly said I haven't forgiven him.” Sarah sighed. “Chris, we aren't adding Bright. We are adding Laura.” “But she's married to Bright.” “So?” Chris looked offended. “So how exactly are you going to talk to her without him being there?” I smiled. “We never said anything about having video calls with them. If Laura answers, we'll simply talk to her. If she asks about Bright, we'll deal with it then.”
Chris still looked suspicious. “And what exactly are you going to tell her?” I shrugged. “We'll think of something.” Alicia looked at me in disbelief. “You're making this sound like we're planning a secret operation.” Chris laughed. “Because it is.” Sarah covered her face. “You three are impossible.” I finally said. “Fine. I'll add Laura. But let's keep things simple.” I added her number to the call. For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then the screen changed. Laura answered. “Hello, guys.”
Her voice was cheerful, but we could hear another voice in the background. “Wife, who is calling you this late?” It was Bright. Chris immediately grinned. Alicia and Sarah both started laughing. Laura turned slightly away from the phone. “It's just my friends.” Bright's voice came again. “Friends?” Chris raised his eyebrows. “Did he just question her?” I laughed. “Leave them alone.” Sarah quickly spoke. “Laura, we actually want to speak with you privately. Can you find somewhere quiet?” Laura looked confused but nodded. “Okay, give me a second.”
She walked out of the bedroom and entered another room before closing the door behind her. “There,” she said. “Now I'm alone. What happened?” Chris remained unusually quiet. I looked at him. “What?” He shook his head. “Nothing.” His expression clearly said otherwise. Alicia looked at Sarah. “Okay, Sarah. What was so important that you needed to bring Laura into the call?” Sarah cleared her throat. “About yesterday…” Chris immediately smiled. “Wife.” Sarah ignored him. “I spoke to Samantha after we came back.”
Chris's smile disappeared slightly. “And?” Sarah smiled. “She agreed.” Chris leaned closer to the phone. “She agreed to what?” Sarah looked at him. “To join us.” Chris slowly closed his eyes. “Oh, no another enemy.” Everyone laughed. Sarah continued. “I'll add her now.” Before Chris could protest, Sarah added Samantha to the call. A few moments later, Samantha appeared on the screen. She immediately froze. There were far more people on the call than she had expected.
She looked from one face to another. “Wait… how many people are here?” Sarah laughed. “Don't worry. You're safe.” Chris muttered, “That depends on what you mean by safe.” Samantha heard him and laughed. Laura also laughed. Chris looked at his wife. “See? This is exactly what I was talking about.” Sarah smiled. “My sister is going to be part of our little group from now on.” She paused and looked at Samantha. “She promised that she won't interfere with Mike and Alicia's relationship.”
Everyone became quiet for a moment. Chris was the only one shaking his head repeatedly. “My wife wants me to eat with my enemies, now she wants all my enemies to be my friends.” he complained. “One day they are going to kill me, and I hope all of you will be happy.” Everyone burst out laughing. Even Samantha couldn't hold back. She was beginning to understand Chris's personality. Alicia smiled at Samantha. “Hey, Samantha.” Samantha smiled awkwardly. “Hi, Alicia.” She hesitated before adding, “Thank you.”
Alicia looked confused. “For what?” “For helping Mike understand my side of the story.” Chris immediately grinned. “Are we here to talk about my brother now?” Alicia laughed. “You're welcome, Samantha.” Then she turned toward Sarah. “So, Sarah, what exactly is this meeting about?” Sarah's expression became more serious. “There is trouble.” Chris immediately stopped joking. “What kind of trouble?” I looked at Sarah. “Trouble involving the Maguire family?” Sarah paused. Her expression changed.
Before she could answer, Chris frowned. “What does the Maguire family have to do with us?” I looked at him. Then I looked at Laura and Samantha. Finally, I looked back at Chris. “Come on, guys. You are smarter than this.” Chris frowned. “What does that mean?” I leaned back. “You haven't connected everything yet?” Chris shook his head. “No. So stop talking in riddles and tell us.” I glanced at Alicia. She immediately knew what I was thinking. She narrowed her eyes. “Mike…” I smiled. “If my wife lets me kiss her, I'll tell you.”
Sarah immediately frowned. “That's disgusting.” I laughed. “Then I guess you don't want to hear what I have to say.” “No!” Sarah quickly protested. “Of course we want to hear.” Chris burst out laughing. “Brother, you're terrible.” I smiled. “Then beg her to kiss me.” Everyone froze. Alicia stared at me. “What are you doing?” I shrugged. “They want to know what happened?” Sarah laughed. “Fine. Alicia, please just kiss him so we can hear the story.” Chris immediately joined in. “Sister, you know what to do. Come on. We all want to hear what Mike has to say.”
Alicia looked at Sarah. “But you were the one who said there was trouble. Why am I suddenly responsible for getting information from Mike?” Sarah laughed. “Because now we want to hear what Mike knows.” “Exactly,” Chris added. Alicia sighed. “You people are impossible.” She leaned toward me and gave me a quick kiss. I smiled. “There. That wasn't so difficult.” Chris laughed. “Now talk.” I finally became serious. “Sister-in-law, when you said there was trouble, I thought you were talking about the people involved with the Maguire family.”
Sarah's expression changed. “What do you mean?” I continued. “The two men who were seen at the hospital in Morocco.” Laura looked confused. Chris leaned forward. “What about them?” I looked at all of them. “Those two men are the same men who came to my old house.” Silence filled the call. Chris's expression changed completely. “You're serious?”
Sarah's eyes widened. “Wait…” She looked at me carefully. “You mean the men who abducted the Maguire family are the same men who were carrying guns when they came to your old house?” I nodded. “Yes.” Sarah froze. “What?”
