C347 We Were Followed
Ben looked at his parents for a moment before answering. “Both of them came to help me clean the warehouse. They stayed for about an hour, helped me move some of the old boxes, and then they went back.” Tracy froze. “You mean Sarah and Samantha came to help you?” Ben nodded. “Yes. They helped me a lot.” Tracy smiled slightly. “Well, that is good. At least it means they aren't upset with you.” She paused. “But then why won't they tell us what is going on?” "Since when they keep secrets
Kelvin shook his head. “When you said they came, I thought you were talking about whatever they were hiding from us.” Ben looked at him. “How would I know?” Kelvin laughed. “Maybe you know someone working there or something.” Ben immediately shook his head. “No. The only thing I know is that Alicia Mooney was trending with some strange looking men. I couldn't understand what that picture was about.” Kelvin's smile disappeared. “What picture?” Ben took out his phone and showed them the photograph. Kelvin and Tracy leaned closer to look.
For a moment, neither of them said anything. Tracy finally spoke. “This doesn't explain anything. It only gives us more questions.” Kelvin nodded. “Who are these men, and why are they kneeling in front of Mark's daughter?” Ben shook his head. “I don't know.” He pointed toward the caption. “But it said, ‘Our Director is powerful.’ It seems like these people might be some kind of new force around Lucia Goods.” Kelvin frowned. “That's strange.” Ben stood up and stretched. “Dad, Mom, I'm tired. I've been cleaning the warehouse all morning. I'm going to get some rest.”
His parents nodded. “Alright, son,” Tracy said. Ben walked upstairs. Once he was gone, Tracy and Kelvin exchanged a long look. Neither of them seemed to understand what was happening. Finally, Kelvin sighed. “Wife, let's get some rest. We'll ask them tomorrow.” Tracy nodded. “Alright.” The following morning, Sarah and Samantha left the Wood residence together. They were on their way to Wood IT Company when Samantha noticed something unusual. She glanced at the side mirror. A car was behind hers.
At first, she didn't think much of it. But after a few minutes, she noticed that the same car was still there. She watched it carefully. When they finally entered the Wood IT Company premises, the vehicle stopped outside. Samantha parked her car and immediately stepped out. Sarah had just gotten out of her own car when Samantha hurried toward her. “Sister.” Sarah looked at her. “What is it?” Samantha glanced toward the vehicle. “Did you notice it as well?” “Notice what?” “The car that was following us.” Sarah's expression changed. “You mean we were followed?”
Samantha nodded. “Yes. All the way here.” She paused. “But maybe I'm overreacting.” Sarah looked toward the road for a moment. The car was already gone. She turned back to Samantha. “Maybe. We should keep an eye out anyway.” Before Samantha could answer, the sound of an approaching car caught their attention. Chris's BMW pulled up beside them. Chris lowered the window and looked at the two women. “What are you two waiting for? Me?” Sarah and Samantha shook their heads.
Sarah laughed. “Come on. Let's go inside. We've already been away from work for two days.” She started walking. “Alicia's business won't keep Wood IT Company running forever.” Samantha laughed. Chris followed them. At Lucia Goods, Alicia had just entered Lucia Goods when Faith greeted her. “Good morning, Director.” Alicia smiled. “Good morning, Faith.” I followed closely behind her. Faith suddenly remembered something. “Director, about the announcement?” Alicia stopped. “Oh, I almost forgot.” She turned toward Faith. “I need you to design a poster and have it posted throughout the company.”
Faith immediately listened. Alicia continued. “The announcement will inform everyone about the change in working hours at Lucia Goods.” She paused briefly. “Instead of knocking off at 4:30 p.m., everyone will now finish at 3:30 p.m.” Faith nodded. “And from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., it will be training time.” Alicia continued. “Also post the announcement in the company group chat.” Faith smiled. “Are we starting today?” I laughed. “I thought you and Samantha already started yesterday.” Faith laughed. “I mean officially.”
Alicia shook her head. “Not today. I still have to organize the new room and arrange the lockers.” Faith nodded. “Yes, Director.” We continued toward our offices. I followed Alicia into her office. “Wife,” I said, “I've finalized everything I need for my computer. The parts I need to upgrade aren't that expensive, so I'll go and buy them this afternoon.” Alicia nodded. “Wait...” She then picked up her phone. “Let me call the renovation company first.” She dialed the number. The call connected quickly. “Good morning, ma'am.” Alicia immediately explained what she needed. “Yes, this is Alicia from Lucia Goods. I need you to come and add one more room.”
She paused. “You still have the original blueprint, right?” “Yes, ma'am. We still have it.” “Good. I also need you to install forty-five lockers and secure them to the wall.” The voice on the other end sounded pleased. “Yes, ma'am. We can do that.” Alicia looked around the office. “I need it done as soon as possible. If you can start today, even better.” “Yes, ma'am. I'll inform my team immediately. We'll come straight away.” “Thank you.” Alicia ended the call. But before she could even put her phone down, it rang again. At almost the same time, my phone started ringing.
I looked at the screen and laughed. “Yesterday we didn't have our video call. Are they calling to complain?” Alicia laughed. “Let's find out.” We both answered. I returned to my office while Alicia remained in hers. The moment the video connected, several familiar faces appeared on the screen. Samantha was the first to speak. “This morning, we were followed.” The laughter immediately disappeared. Alicia's expression changed. “Followed?”
