C377 What Is It
After leaving the Wood residence, Chris drove without any particular destination in mind. He simply followed the road, his hands resting loosely on the steering wheel while his thoughts wandered from one problem to another. He had left the house because he could not bring himself to sit at the same table with Ben. The situation between them was too complicated. Chris knew Ben was his brother's enemy and also his brother in law. But after what had happened to Sarah, it was even more difficult to sit with him and pretend to be friends. Ben had given Jack Sarah's number, and that single decision had nearly cost Sarah her life. Not forgetting all the pain he had caused Mike.
Chris sighed heavily. He continued driving for a while before finally making up his mind. He would return to the Mooney residence. "At least there, I could help Alicia and my brother Mike, prepare for whatever was coming next. Coincidentally, Chris arrived at almost exactly the same time as the ten coaches sent by Victor. The moment he stepped out of his car, he noticed several unfamiliar vehicles arriving behind him. One after another, the ten coaches stepped out. Angus the Hammer was at the front, followed by Fraser the Reaper, Lewis the Sniper, Conner the Beast, and the rest of the team. Chris stared at them for a moment. "Why are they here?" He walked toward the entrance with them.
Inside the Mooney residence, everyone was gathered together, still discussing the events of the morning. The atmosphere was tense. When Chris walked in, I immediately looked toward him. "Brother, aren't you supposed to be with your wife and Tristan?" Chris gave me a small grin. "Never." I raised an eyebrow. "What happened?" Chris sighed dramatically. "They wanted me to eat dinner with my biggest enemy." For a moment, nobody spoke. Alicia and I exchanged glances before laughing. Then Mary looked at him with concern. "Does that mean you haven't eaten?" Chris nodded. "I left before dinner."
Mary immediately looked worried. "My child you should have eaten something. Dinner will be ready soon we will eat together." Chris smiled. "Aunt I am not a child anymore, I am a father now." Alicia, who was sitting nearby, looked at him sympathetically. "Brother, don't worry. We will have dinner after we finish our discussion with Angus and his team." Chris nodded. "That sounds better." The ten coaches were welcomed into the house, although the atmosphere remained awkward. There were too many questions and too many things happening at once. Harris Family was becoming more dangerous. Hanna had returned. Alicia had nearly been killed. Sarah had been kidnapped.
And now everyone understood that the conflict was no longer something they could simply ignore. Angus eventually sat down and looked around the room. "We need to talk." Everyone became quiet. Angus placed both hands on his knees and continued. "Boss sent us here to help you train as quickly as possible. But before we begin, there are some important things we need to discuss." Alicia nodded. "Go ahead." Angus glanced briefly at the other coaches before continuing. "Boss suggested that we use the family's military base from now on." Everyone exchanged looks. "The military base?" Mark asked. Angus nodded. "Yes. It is better equipped, more secure, and much larger than the training facility you currently have."
Fraser leaned forward. "But there is another issue." Alicia looked at him. "What issue?" Fraser folded his arms. "Your workers. We need to know whether they will be able to handle proper military training. If they can't, then we have to decide what happens next." Alicia lowered her gaze. She had already been dealing with too many things. Her pregnancy had ended unexpectedly. She had been shot. Her family was now being hunted. And she had just learned that another dangerous enemy had returned. She rubbed her forehead. "My mind has been tired. I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to think about all these things at once."
Chris smiled reassuringly. "That's why Mike and I are here." I nodded. "You don't have to handle everything alone." Alicia looked at both of us and smiled faintly. "Thank you." Conner looked around the room. "Madam, there are some things we need to discuss that are extremely sensitive." He paused. "Can we find somewhere private to talk?" Everyone immediately looked at him. Even Mark's expression changed. "What do you mean by private?" Mark asked. Conner quickly raised his hands. "I don't mean any disrespect." He took a breath before continuing. "Things are bigger now than just your family. Madam has to get used to secrecy. There are things we may have to discuss that cannot be spoken about openly."
Peter waved his hand. "Fine. You can go somewhere private." He paused. "But just remember, we will eventually know what is happening." Lewis smiled politely. "Definitely, sir." Then he added, "But we don't want Madam to feel uncomfortable." Peter frowned slightly. Lewis continued. "We don't want you to see her reaction if we discuss something dangerous in front of everyone. She might also be afraid to say certain things because she doesn't want to worry you." Georgia immediately looked concerned. "Why would my granddaughter be scared?" Angus smiled gently. "Madam is your granddaughter, so naturally you will worry about her."
He paused. "But imagine, for example, that we were discussing an assassination." Everyone became silent. "Would she really be comfortable discussing something like that in front of you?" Georgia stared at him for several seconds. Then she waved her hand. "Fine. I understand." She turned toward Alicia. "But Alicia, my child, you have to be careful." Alicia nodded. "I will, Grandma." She stood up. "Then let's use my father's study." The ten coaches nodded. Mark's study would provide enough privacy for the discussion. As everyone began standing up, Alicia's phone suddenly rang. She looked at the screen. The name made her smile. "Faith." She answered. "Faith, what is it?"
Faith's panicked voice immediately came through. "Director, what happened? You didn't come to work today, and the news is saying there was an attack at your family's house. Is everything all right?" Alicia smiled reassuringly. "Yes, Faith. You don't have to worry. Everything is going to be fine." There was a short silence on the other end. Faith still sounded uncertain. "Director..." "Yes?" "None of the coaches came to train us today." Alicia's smile faded slightly. Faith continued. "We had to train by ourselves. We tried our best, but... are things really okay?" Alicia glanced at the ten coaches standing nearby. "Yes, Faith. You don't have to worry." She paused. "I'll get back to you just now." "Okay, Director." The call ended.
Alicia looked at her phone for a moment. Then, after thinking about it, she quickly added Faith to the group chat. She locked her phone and placed it in her hand. "Let's go." The ten coaches followed her toward Mark's study. Chris and I walked alongside her. The door was about to close when Alicia's phone vibrated. Faith had already noticed that she had been added to the group. She immediately sent a message. Hey guys, it's me, Faith. At the Wood residence, Samantha's phone vibrated. She glanced down at the screen. The moment she saw the message, her entire body stiffened. She choked. "Ah.." She quickly coughed into her hand. Everyone turned toward her.
Sarah, who was nearby, looked at her phone as well. The moment she saw Faith's name, her expression changed. For a few seconds, she said nothing. She looked conflicted. Then she slowly pushed the thought away and looked elsewhere. But the reaction had already been noticed. Samantha's face was tense. Sarah was unusually quiet. The people around them exchanged confused glances. Kelvin finally looked between the two women. "What is it?" Neither Samantha nor Sarah answered. Kelvin frowned. "Why did you two suddenly become so shocked?" Samantha swallowed hard. Sarah remained silent. Kelvin leaned forward slightly. "I asked you a question. What is it that makes the both of you so shocked?"
