C43 You Two Worry Too Much
When Quinton returned home that night, it was already late. He assumed everyone would be asleep by then, but the moment he opened the front door, Mike rushed out of his room.
Almost at the same time, Mary appeared from the bedroom. Both of them had been worried ever since he received that strange call from the Wood residence.
Seeing Quinton standing there unharmed immediately eased their worries. “I’m fine,” Quinton said with a smile. “You two worry too much.” Only then did the family finally settle down for the night.
The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed after the success of the previous day. I quickly washed up and chose my clothes for work.
Without paying much attention, I ended up wearing black shoes, black jeans, and a black shirt. Looking at myself in the mirror, I laughed. “Looks like I’m attending a funeral.” After breakfast, I grabbed my bicycle and headed to work.
To my surprise, Chris was already waiting outside the company entrance. The moment he saw me, he folded his arms. “Brother, you’re late today. I got here first.”
I immediately noticed his expression. His face looked colder than usual. Even the women passing by seemed too intimidated to greet him. “What happened to you?” I asked. “You look like you want to punch someone before breakfast.”
Chris ignored the question. “Brother, I think we should start wearing face masks.” I blinked. “Face masks?” “Yes. The women here keep staring at us. It’s becoming uncomfortable.”
I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. “No wonder you look angry.” I pointed toward a group of women entering the building. “Maybe they heard you’re a lone wolf.”
Chris immediately glared at me. “Why would you tell people that?” “If those women start chasing me, I’m sending them straight to you.” I laughed so hard I almost dropped my work bag.
Being around Chris always made things easier. No matter how difficult life became, we always found a reason to laugh.
