C464 They Killed Him
Charlie stared at Hanna, unable to understand what she was hearing. “Ann, what do you mean?” Hanna smiled calmly. “What I mean is that you have to decide whether he is in this together with us or whether he is not.” Charlie’s face tightened. “Who?” “Your husband.” Charlie’s eyes widened. Hanna looked at her for several seconds before answering. “Charlie, this is not a game.” Her voice had lost the warmth it had carried earlier. “What we are doing is a crime. You are the face of this cartel. If the police discover everything, you will be the one standing in front of them. You understand that, don't you?” Charlie swallowed hard. Hanna continued. “If your husband has already told Alicia everything about you, what is stopping him from telling the police?” Charlie said nothing. “And what happens if your enemies discover that he is your weakness?” Hanna asked. “What if they use him as bait to get to you?” Charlie froze. “You want me to kill my husband?” She had never thought about John that way.
Hanna nodded "Yes we have to remain invincible. Charlie looked down. “I have never killed anyone,” she whispered. Hanna smiled. “Then let me show you.” She stood from her chair. “Come in.” The door opened. Destroyer entered with several men behind him. Hanna looked at him and held out her arms. “Here.” Destroyer looked confused as Hanna handed Emmanuel to him. “Boss, what do we do about this child?” Hanna turned toward Charlie. Her expression changed completely. "You know Alicia and Mike are my enemies." Charlie nodded "Yes." Hanna smiled faintly. “They think they can challenge me and I will sit by and do nothing?” Her voice was cold. “Who is she to think she can take my position?” The men remained silent. “Boss…” Destroyer began cautiously. Hanna smiled. “Kill him.” She looked toward Emmanuel. “He is their heir. Without him, it will be easier to destroy them.” One of the men shifted uneasily. “What should we do with him afterward?” Hanna's smile disappeared. “Send him back to them.” The room fell silent. Charlie stared at Hanna in horror. “Ann... you want them to kill the child?”
Hanna gave a quiet laugh. “Didn't you want to kill him when we were in Colombia?” Charlie couldn't answer. She remembered those words. She had been furious then. She had wanted revenge against Alicia and Mike so badly that she had considered doing something unforgivable. But seeing Emmanuel in front of her was different. He was just a baby. Destroyer looked down at the child before looking back at Hanna. “Boss, we can kill him, but this is going too far. He is still a child.” Hanna's eyes narrowed. “You have gone soft.” Destroyer remained silent. Hanna reached for her gun. “Put him in the basket.” Destroyer hesitated. “Boss…” “Do it.” Destroyer slowly placed Emmanuel into the basket. Hanna took the gun from her side. Charlie watched in horror. “Ann, stop.” Hanna didn't even look at her. “You wanted to know what it means to be part of this world.” She raised the weapon. A single gunshot echoed through the room. Charlie screamed. Destroyer froze. For several seconds, nobody moved. Hanna lowered the weapon and looked at Charlie. “Now you understand.” Charlie stared at her, shaken.
Hanna's voice became cold again. “Take the basket to the Mooney residence.” Destroyer didn't move. “Boss…” “Take him back.” Destroyer slowly picked up the basket. Hanna watched him leave with the other men. Then she turned toward Charlie. “You saw it.” Charlie remained frozen. “So now,” Hanna continued, “you must do what you have to do with your husband.” Charlie looked at her with tears in her eyes. Hanna walked toward the door. She sent a message to Destroyer. “After you are done, go back to the hotel.” Charlie could barely speak. “Ann. I can't do it. I won't kill my husband.” Hanna stopped. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, colourless bottle. She held it toward Charlie. Charlie stared at the bottle. “What is that?” “Something that will make your decision easier.” Charlie hesitated before taking it. “Pour it into his drink,” Hanna said. “Make sure he drinks it.” Charlie looked down at the bottle. Her hands were trembling. “Yes, Ann.” Hanna smiled. “Good.” She walked out. Charlie remained standing in the room, staring at the small bottle in her hand. She wondered whether she had made a terrible mistake in joining Hanna. But Hanna had already made her choice for her. Charlie returned to the Kinlore residence.
At the Mooney residence, everything was quiet. Most of the family was inside when suddenly... BANG! Everyone froze. A second shot echoed outside. Then a third. “What was that?” Peter asked. The family rushed toward the windows. Mark immediately moved toward the door. “Stay inside,” he ordered. But before anyone could respond, the sound of a vehicle speeding away echoed down the road. Hammer looked outside. “What is that?” A basket was sitting on the road. Everyone stared at it. Alicia's heart suddenly began racing. “Where is that basket coming from?” Hammer stepped outside. “Stay here.” He walked toward it cautiously. I followed him to the doorway, his eyes fixed on the basket. Hammer reached it. He looked around before picking it up. Then he walked back toward the house. The moment he entered, everyone could see something was wrong. Hammer's face was pale. Alicia stood. “What happened?” Hammer looked down at the basket. His voice barely came out. “Boss…” Alicia stepped toward him. “What?” Hammer looked at her. “They killed him.”
The room became completely silent. My face turned pale. Alicia shook her head. “No.” Hammer lowered his eyes. “Emmanuel is dead.” Alicia's legs nearly gave way. “No…” She stumbled forward. “No!” Tears immediately filled her eyes. “Emmanuel!” Her scream echoed through the house. I quickly caught her before she fell. “My baby…” Alicia clung to him, crying uncontrollably. “My baby…” Mark stood frozen. Mary covered her mouth. Peter stared at the basket in disbelief. Victor's expression hardened. Nobody spoke. The entire room had fallen into silence. Then Alicia screamed again. “EMMANUEL!”
