C9 You Two Worry Too Much

Time passed slowly. By the time the clock struck 7 p.m., headlights appeared at the entrance of the property. Kelvin Wood had returned.

The moment he stepped out of his car, his expression changed. His eyes immediately landed on Quinton still working in the cold garden. He checked his watch. 7 p.m.

Without hesitation, he walked quickly toward him. “Quinton,” Kelvin said firmly, “why are you still here at this time? It’s too cold. You should have left long ago.” He paused, noticing the garden beds.

The fresh flowers he had personally requested earlier that day were being removed. His expression darkened slightly. “What is going on here?” he asked. “I told you to plant those flowers.”

Quinton quickly straightened up, respectfully lowering his head. “Boss… Madam and Young Master said the flowers had a bad smell. I was instructed to remove them.” Kelvin went silent for a moment.

Then he stepped forward and gently helped Quinton stand upright. “No,” he said calmly but firmly. “This is not necessary tonight. Go home. Be with your family. They are waiting for you.”

Quinton hesitated. But Kelvin continued. “And… thank your son for me. He did well today. He helped prevent a serious financial loss for the company.”

Quinton was momentarily speechless. After a pause, he simply nodded. “Thank you, Boss… for your kindness.” He gathered his tools and left the property.

Inside the house, dinner was already prepared. Kelvin and Tracy sat together after a long day. Ben sat next to his mother, but Samantha was not there.

Ben told them that She visited her parents. For a moment, everything seemed calm.

After Dinner everyone went to their bedrooms But Kelvin’s expression remained serious.

“Wife,” he said slowly, “since when do we treat our workers like this? Calling someone back after their shift just to redo garden work… this is not normal.”

Tracy frowned slightly. “I didn’t know anything about it,” she replied. “Ben said the flowers had a bad smell and that he couldn’t sleep. He insisted they be removed. I don’t know anything about gardening, so I didn’t interfere.” Even as she spoke, a small sense of unease lingered in her voice.

Kelvin exhaled slowly. His anger faded slightly, replaced by concern. “You know our son,” he said quietly. “He always wants to be in control of everything around him.”

He paused. “His relationship with Quinton’s son has already worsened. And now Samantha is involved… everything is becoming complicated.”

At the mention of Samantha, Tracy looked up. “Why are you bringing that situation up again?” she asked. “And why are you mentioning Mike?”

Kelvin took a sip of water before answering. Then he explained everything that had happened at the company the security breach and how Michael had played a key role in solving it.

Tracy listened carefully, her expression slowly changing. Unlike many wealthy families, she had always been gentle by nature.

She never judged people by status or background. To her, kindness mattered more than reputation but because she had wealth, it was not easy to approach her.

Tracy and Kelvin had two children, Ben and their younger daughter Sarah.

Sarah was the second child in the family and had been studying abroad for several years. Ben, Chris and Mike were all the same age and had grown up in similar environments, often crossing paths during school years.

Because of this, Tracy had always seen Chris and Mike as part of their extended family while they were still young and frequently around Ben.

She often treated them with kindness whenever they visited, never distinguishing them harshly based on status or background.

In her eyes, they were simply children who had grown up together, regardless of the differences.

After a moment of silence, she nodded. “Children will always fight over things they don’t understand,” she said softly. Then she looked at Kelvin and added, “But don’t worry Husband . I will not repeat my past mistakes.”

Kelvin looked at her, surprised. A small smile formed on his face. Hearing her call him “husband” so naturally was very rare. And for that, the tension in his chest eased slightly.

When Quinton returned home that night, it was already late. He assumed everyone would be asleep by then, but the moment he opened the front door, Mike rushed out of his room.

Almost at the same time, Mary appeared from the bedroom. Both of them had been worried ever since he received that strange call from the Wood residence.

Seeing Quinton standing there unharmed immediately eased their worries. “I’m fine,” Quinton said with a smile. “You two worry too much.” Only then did the family finally settle down for the night.

The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed after the success of the previous day. I quickly washed up and chose my clothes for work.

Without paying much attention, I ended up wearing black shoes, black jeans, and a black shirt. Looking at myself in the mirror, I laughed. “Looks like I’m attending a funeral.” After breakfast, I grabbed my bicycle and headed to work.

To my surprise, Chris was already waiting outside the company entrance. The moment he saw me, he folded his arms. “Brother, you’re late today. I got here first.”

I immediately noticed his expression. His face looked colder than usual. Even the women passing by seemed too intimidated to greet him. “What happened to you?” I asked. “You look like you want to punch someone before breakfast.”

Chris ignored the question. “Brother, I think we should start wearing face masks.” I blinked. “Face masks?” “Yes. The women here keep staring at us. It’s becoming uncomfortable.”

I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. “No wonder you look angry.” I pointed toward a group of women entering the building. “Maybe they heard you’re a lone wolf.”

Chris immediately glared at me. “Why would you tell people that?” “If those women start chasing me, I’m sending them straight to you.” I laughed so hard I almost dropped my work bag.

Being around Chris always made things easier. No matter how difficult life became, we always found a reason to laugh.
