C8 Acting
Gu Qinian arched an eyebrow, remaining silent, yet his tone was unmistakably inquisitive.
Ye Tian clenched her teeth, "I'm aware of your intentions. The video clearly captured the incident, and it won't be long before someone realizes that Ye Ziyan's fall was staged, threatening to ruin her image and reputation. You're using me as a shield to prevent her actions from being uncovered."
It was a clever strategy—turning a conflict into an act of assistance would instantly sway public opinion.
Gu Qinian maintained his expression, "Just tell me if you agree or not."
"...When can the specialist come to treat my grandfather?"
Ye Tian's voice carried a sense of defeat and powerlessness.
Gu Qinian's lips curved into a slight smile, seemingly unsurprised by her tone, "That will depend on when you decide to thank Ye Ziyan."
"Fine, I'll do it now," Ye Tian said through gritted teeth.
"The draft is ready for you. Just read from it."
Gu Qinian appeared to have anticipated her agreement, promptly selecting a draft on his phone and making a call, "Have the reporters get ready. We can head to the ward now."
Ye Tian inwardly scoffed. He had everything calculated, just waiting for her to give in.
After ending the call, Gu Qinian turned to Ye Tian's visibly irritated gaze, a hint of amusement in his smile. "Remember, this concerns whether your grandfather will wake up again. You know what to do, right?"
"Rest assured! I'll be tearfully grateful, convincing every reporter that your rumored girlfriend is the most benevolent person in the world!"
Ye Tian stared coldly at Gu Qinian, repulsed by his manipulative scheme.
Gu Qinian lifted an eyebrow, "Follow me."
Ye Tian trailed behind him, and after a few twists and turns, they quickly reached Ye Ziyan's VIP hospital room. Reporters had crowded the entrance, buzzing with activity. Some began to shout excitedly upon spotting Gu Qinian, only to be silenced by his assistant's warning, "Privacy invasion will be prosecuted by the Gu's." The crowd's excitement reignited at the sight of Ye Tian.
"Isn't that the woman who pushed Ye Ziyan? What's she doing here?"
"What do you mean she pushed her? Haven't you seen the video online? She didn't even touch Ye Ziyan."
"Then why did Ye Ziyan fall down the stairs? Could it be..."
"The truth is, Miss Ye Ziyan saw me about to take a tumble, so in a rush to help, she came over and, unfortunately, ended up falling herself. I've been grateful for her actions ever since, which is why I made a point to visit the hospital today to express my thanks in person."
Ye Tian was aware that her display of gratitude was primarily for show, to impress the reporters, so she emotionlessly recited the prepared statement from her phone that Gu Qinian had sent her, in full view of everyone.
Without waiting for the reporters to react, she pushed open the door to the ward and entered. In front of all the journalists, Ye Tian took a deep breath and dramatically rushed to Ye Ziyan's bedside, her eyes brimming with tears:
"Oh my God, my sister, I'm so relieved to see you alive and to be able to thank you myself—it's just wonderful!"
Ye Tian's "OMG" startled Ye Ziyan and her husband Ye Yongcheng in the ward, and even Gu Qinian, who followed her in, furrowed his brow. He began to question whether having Ye Tian apologize was such a good idea after all.
