C1 Pregnant

Six weeks pregnant.

I read the ultrasound report again as a sense of dread ran over me. No. I can't be pregnant. I can't be...I took a deep breath.

What should I do?

Should I tell Kieran? Will he still divorce me after this? Or will he stay? No, if I told him now, he'll just think that I'm using my child to threaten him. I shouldn't appear as shameless.

Suppressing the sadness inside me, I stuffed the ultrasound report in my bag and strode out of the hospital.

As I had gone outside of the hospital building, I see a shiny black Maybach sitting on the outskirts. It slowly rolled back, and from then, I could see a pair of steely eyes staring right at me.

Despite the hazy windows, the man's angular looks were enough to attract any passerby.

Anyone would've been starstruck by his features, but I was already used to it. I was also already used to the coldness of his eyes and his seemingly emotionless features. Ignoring the questioning gazes of everyone else, I got into the passenger seat.

The man didn't move. Instead, he frowned and adjusted his seat—his eyes closed. "Is it done?"

"Yes." I handed him the contract with the hospital's signature. "Dean Burns has asked me to send his regards." It was a coincidence that I had met Kieran along the way. For some reason, he decided he wanted to drop me.

"Then you'll be in charge of this case." Kieran had always been a man of few words. He started the car.

I didn't say anything else after that.

After being silent for a long time, I didn't really know what to do anymore. We had never exactly talked this long throughout the years that we have known each other.

I looked at the windows. It was night. The moon was high, and the winds were cool. Where did he plan to go? Did he know anything?

Peeking a glance, I couldn't help but see how cool his eyes were.

"Kieran!" I glanced down at my bag. There was sweat trickling down my skin. Why was I sweating like a dog when it was so cold? Maybe I shouldn't have said anything, maybe—

"Speak!"

He had always been like this. I am pregnant. That was all I needed to say, really, but...I took a deep breath. It will all be fine.

"I'm—" Ring! His phone suddenly rang out, and all the words sank deeper into my throat.

"Regina?" The coldness of his voice disappeared. Instead, it was wrapped with velvety joy—like a present only exclusive to just one person. "What's wrong?"

He had only ever reserved his gentleness for Regina.

I don't know what she had said at the other end of the line, but within the next second, Kieran had stomped on the brakes. "Okay," he said. "I'll be there in a bit. Don't wander around, okay?"

After hanging up, his cold expression came to be as he gazed right at me. "Get out."

It was an order.

It also wasn't the first time.

Without another word, I followed him. After all, my marriage to Kieran wasn't one of love and fate, but rather of convenience. He had always belonged to Regina.

It was the Kieran's grandpa who had forced him to marry me, and now that he was gone, Kieran couldn't wait to hire a lawyer. Now, he could finally get rid of me. A bitter smile slipped into my lips.

When I returned to the villa, I took a deep breath and surveyed the darkness that crept into every corner of the room. It had always felt like a haunted house in here. My hand carefully went to my stomach as I made my way up the steps. There, I washed up and headed to bed.

However, just as I was about to fall asleep, I heard a faint car engine in the yard.

Kieran was back?

Didn't he go to Regina?
