C14 You Think Schaffer Would Like You?

Knowing that he was angry, I whispered my goodbyes to Yetta and walked over to him. "Thank you," I said with my head bowed.

"Just get in the car."

I didn't say anything else, and instead, followed his lead.

After he had driven for a while, I received a text message from Yetta stating that she arrived safely. I sent a quick reply and gazed out the window. It seemed that we'd already arrived at the villa.

I glanced at the man beside me. He was still as stoic as ever. If he didn't want to speak, then it's not like I could do anything about it.

As he reached the entrance of the villa, I finally took my chance. "Kieran, I really thought you were drunk. That's why I called Schaffer. I didn't mean anything else."

It was an unnecessary explanation. It's not like he'd care.

He suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned around. His narrowed eyes bored into my face. "Anything else? Do you think Schaffer would like you?"

"I—what?"

Putting aside the fact that they were as close as brothers, I was Kieran's wife. There was no way that he would like me.

In fact, I wouldn't even be on their radar. If it weren't for the fact that Old Master Juarez forced him to marry me, I wouldn't even be noticed by him.

Seeing that I didn't say anything, Kieran simply went upstairs.

However, as he was doing so, he suddenly turned toward me. "Go and buy me some midnight snack in Guanghannan Ji."

Where? Wasn't that right in the city? It was midnight. Why would I go all the way there? I gritted my teeth.

"Do you have to eat today? It's already midnight. Maybe it's closed."

"It's open 24/7."

He just wanted to torture me.

However, it wasn't like I could do anything else. Besides, I was wrong. I froze for a while before heading to the garage. I took a deep breath.

It was the rainy season, so the air was humid. It was probably going to rain soon, so I had to get through this entire task as quickly as I could. I took a deep breath, grabbing the keys to the smaller car.

At one o'clock in the morning, I could only sing praises with the fact that it had not rained yet. I sighed in relief and grabbed the midnight snack that Kieran had requested.

However, as I returned, it began to rain even more heavily.

There were tunnels that had been flooded, and the crowds began to pile up in a bottleneck. I avoided every single one of them. It was a good thing, too.

What I had not foreseen was for the car to break down halfway into my drive. The rain was still splattering across my windshield, and at the state of things, I couldn't get a taxi.

I glanced at my phone. It was at 2%. I had to call Kieran.

The phone rang a few more times before it had turned off from the low battery. "Shit," I cursed under my breath. Without another word, I grabbed my umbrella and the midnight snack before beginning my journey down the winding sidewalk.
