C7 Grandpa Juarez's Funeral

It took me an hour to drive from the villa to the Juarez's Ancestral home.

My stomach stirred. Flashes of blood and Kieran's angered expression flew to my mind, and suddenly, I felt myself gripping the wheel even harder. My breathing suddenly felt off as everything blurred around me.

Without thinking, I stopped the car in front of the home as another wave of nausea washed over me. I got out of the car and threw up at the edge of the flower bed.

"Is this how the wife of Kieran Juarez acts? Vomits right out the minute she steps out of the car?" A sarcastic voice echoed from the home entrance.

Right. Grandfather Juarez had two sons—his eldest son Morgan who had died in a car accident, and his second son Nelson.

The person standing outside the entrance was Angelina, his wife and my Aunt.

Suppressing the discomfort, I forced a smile into my face. "Hello, Second Aunt."

Angelina had never liked me. Perhaps it was due to the fact that I was born poor, but even then, Grandfather Juarez had always favored me in comparison to them. Perhaps, she was just jealous of my position. Little did she know...

Seeing that there was nobody else in the car, she raised her eyebrow. "What's wrong? Isn't the Young Master of the Juarez Family coming to attend the funeral?"

There were plenty of people present today. For Kieran not to be here...I simply responded, "My husband has an urgent matter he needed to attend to, so he will be late."

"Late?"Angelina sneered. "Is that truly the how he presents himself?"

There were plenty of influential families here. While Angelina didn't like me, she certainly didn't make things too difficult in consideration for her face. I suppressed the urge to scoff. "Come in then."

We went into the living room. High ceilings and mahogany tables filled my sights. Sitting right at the center was a tablet with Grandfather Juarez's picture sitting on top.

Grandfather Juarez has always been influential. It was also his kind personality that had earned him plenty of friends. Nelson and Angelina greeted all these families outside, while I welcomed him into the hall.

"Miss Russel." I glanced at the side to see Mrs. Barnes.

"Mrs. Barnes. What's wrong?" Although the Juarez was a very powerful family, they didn't have that much children. It was Mrs. Barnes who had handled most of their affairs.

The old woman smiled, placing a sandalwood box in my hands. "The old man left this for you. Take very good care of it."

There was a short pause when she added, "The old man knows that once he leaves this world, Mr. Juarez will force you to divorce him. If you don't want to, give this box to him."

I looked down at the sandalwood box and furrowed my eyebrows. It appeared to be locked. "Where's the key?"

"The old man has already given the key to him." Mrs. Barnes stared at me. "You look tired. Take good care of yourself, okay? He had always wanted you to give birth and to continue the Juarez bloodline, so...do your best."

At the mention of their bloodline, I simply smiled.

If only they knew the truth. The entire day, I greeted more and more people as they went down the hall. It was already afternoon, but Kieran still hadn't arrived.

Nelson held Angelina's arm and glanced at me. "Teresa, please go and talk to Kieran. There's no use in not showing up," he said solemnly.
