C16 There Were People Who Wanted to Poach Her

Leh Jiu was like a curious child, peering out of the window, taking in the sights and committing the route to memory as if her mind were a printer.

To her delight, Leh Jiu discovered she had a photographic memory!

She resided on the hillside of Pear Garden, where travel was car-dependent and security was tight. Clearly, this place was just another cage.

If she hoped to leave unscathed, Leh Jiu knew she had to strategize carefully.

At a red light, the car halted in front of a building with a giant LCD screen displaying a film festival video. The star of the show was none other than Qiao Lan, accompanied by a man—Si Nanzhi.

Ms. Chen noticed Leh Jiu gazing out the window and inquired, "Miss, what are you looking at?"

"Nanzhi," Leh Jiu replied, pointing at the LCD screen.

Following Leh Jiu's gaze, Ms. Chen was met with a striking image: Qiao Lan, arm in arm with Si Nanzhi, beaming with the joy of a woman in love.

Rumor had it that Qiao Lan was the recognized granddaughter-in-law of the Si family, the future Mrs. Si. Qiao Lan's success in the entertainment industry was largely attributed to Si Nanzhi's support.

Ms. Chen couldn't help but scorn the young master for his involvement in this love triangle.

He was a man without integrity, engaged to be married, yet still fooling around with other women, and worse, preying on an innocent girl.

Ms. Chen's gaze on Leh Jiu was one of deep sympathy.

Poor child.

"My goddess is just too beautiful," one girl sighed outside the car.

"I'm so envious. The goddess isn't just gorgeous and kind, but she comes from a great family and has such an amazing fiancé," the other added.

"If I could have just half the life of the goddess, I'd die content!"

The two girls, dressed as students, watched the screen with a mix of happiness and envy.

Leh Jiu snorted inwardly upon hearing their conversation. They were so young, yet so blind.

Is she beautiful? She doesn't hold a candle to her!

Kind-hearted? She doesn't look like a good person at a glance!

Regarding her fiancé, Mr. Lu had made it clear that she had no connection with Si Nanzhi.

Just as the traffic light turned green, Ms. Chen quickly pressed the accelerator, and the car zoomed off.

Upon arriving at the shopping center, Leh Jiu was the first to get out.

"Miss, please wait here for a moment. I'll park the car and be right back," Ms. Chen said.

Leh Jiu nodded in agreement: "Okay."

Experiencing the outside world for the first time, Leh Jiu closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining, and the air tasted sweet.

Her bright, curious eyes scanned the surroundings. When her gaze landed on a utility pole, she paused for a few seconds.

Leh Jiu then approached the pole, which was plastered with various small ads for jobs, house rentals, locksmith services, and more.

Among the clutter of ads, she immediately noticed one offering fake ID services.

She was determined to leave this place, to escape from Si Nanzhi, but whether by car or plane, she needed an ID card.

However, she was undocumented!

Leh Jiu took the ad and slipped it into her pocket.

As she turned around, she noticed a man standing behind her.

She instantly adopted a wary expression and began to back away.

The man, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and sporting a slicked-back hairstyle, had a scholarly appearance and was impeccably dressed.

Noticing Leh Jiu's defensive stance, the man quickly raised his hands in a friendly gesture and smiled warmly.

"Don't be alarmed, beautiful. I'm not a bad guy. I'm an agent with Galaxy Entertainment. My name is A Ke, and here's my business card," he said, extending the card to her.

Leh Jiu didn't accept it, her eyes, clear as crystal, brimming with caution.

From the moment she stepped out of the car, A Ke had been captivated by her.

As a talent scout for many years, he'd seen countless beauties, but he had never encountered someone like Leh Jiu, who exuded a natural, unsculpted beauty that combined allure and innocence in one.

A stunner.

If he could sign her, he was certain he could mold her into the next big sensation and catapult her to stardom!

"Miss, I assure you I'm not a bad guy. You must have heard of Galaxy Entertainment, our company..."

Galaxy was the premier entertainment conglomerate in the Imperial Capital, boasting a roster of all the leading celebrities in the industry.

Anyone harboring dreams of stardom aspired to join Galaxy.

Even those without such dreams likely idolized someone who was a Galaxy creation.

As the man was boasting, Leh Jiu cut him off, "I've never heard of it."

"We..."

His face registered shock, as if he had swallowed an egg whole.

Never heard of it?

The man was eager to continue, but just then, Ms. Chen appeared. Seeing the man with Leh Jiu, she was visibly startled.

She had brought Leh Jiu out, and the last thing she needed was for Leh Jiu to be lured away by some man. The young master would have her head for that!

"Miss."

At the sound, Leh Jiu looked up and, without further acknowledgment of the man, walked over to Ms. Chen.

Ms. Chen quickly took Leh Jiu's hand, pulling her close protectively and shooting a fierce glare at the man trying to follow. She warned, "Stay away from my Miss, or I'll call the police on you."

The man tried to speak, but Ms. Chen didn't afford him the opportunity, leading Leh Jiu away without even accepting his business card.

Only when the man was no longer in sight did Ms. Chen speak up, "Miss, you shouldn't speak so freely with strangers in the future. They're not trustworthy."

Especially men!

Leh Jiu wasn't focused on that, instead she asked, "Ms. Chen, does being a celebrity really pay that well?"

Ms. Chen sighed, "Absolutely. They earn more in a day than ordinary people do in a year, and the money comes in fast."

Gazing at Leh Jiu's exquisite face, Ms. Chen inwardly lamented. If the Miss were to enter the entertainment industry, she would undoubtedly take it by storm.

But the young master would never consent.

Such an easy way to make money?

Such a shame.

Because of the lab, she couldn't be in the public eye to earn that kind of money.
