C6 CHAPTER 6

I stare at the food on my plate. I couldn't find it in me to take a bite. I know how hungry I'm feeling but what was on my plate wasn't what I wanted or should I say this baby.

The image of a forming embryo in my uterus felt kind of strange to picture. Nate and I did have a couple of unprotected sex but it never really occurred to me that I could get pregnant. The idea of not giving a damn after Collins rejected me really made an impact.

I took one look at the scrambled eggs and bacon, I pushed the plate aside and stood up from the table. I went to the freezer and brought out a piece of beef.

I was ready to prepare steak and salad for breakfast.

"What are you doing pretty girl?" I heard his voice behind me and before I could turn back to look at him, his breath fanned behind my neck.

"Are you trying to prepare steak for breakfast? " His question sounded more like a mock.

" Are you mocking me Nathaniel? " I faced him with a frown.

" Me? Mock a pregnant woman? " He kissed my lips and hurried out of the house.

I found myself smiling as I stare at the door he walked through. He has been supportive since we found out about the baby. Sometimes I feel all these are just dreams.

It wasn't long ago I crushed long on Collins, got to find out his is my mate but I got rejected that day. It was the same day I met Nate and we bonded. In summary I'm now pregnant with his child. I shook my head and began to prepare my breakfast.

A knock came on the door and Lake walked in with a basket that had a big bow on it. I really don't know her much, but I always feel like I have known her for a while.

"Nate told me your choice of breakfast today." She said as she dropped the basket on the dinner table.

I shrugged. "Aren't feeling the eggs today?"

She laughed.

"Let me do that for you. Sit and open your basket." She said as she wore the second apron that was hung by the shelf.

"My basket? I don't remember ordering for anything." I gave her the basket with a quizzical look and took off my apron.

She didn't look back at me. "Nate did."

Oh. I wonder what was inside. I quickly went towards the table with excitement and started unwrapping.

Inside, there were rose flowers, chocolates, medicines for pregnancy, romance books and a letter that reads;

"Everything pretty for my pretty girl… Have a wonderful day love."

I felt blush creep into my cheeks. His writing was so elegant and majestic.

"You keep looking at that note, you might fall pregnant again." Lake's voice called my attention.

I laughed and dropped the note and started rummaging through the basket as I was blushing way too much at lake's comment.

"No need to shy girl. I know how it feels when someone makes you feel special." She said. She dropped a plate beside me.

The smell was inviting and I quickly left the basket to start eating.

"You're not eating?" I said with my mouth full.

She smiled and shook her head. "I am on a diet for now."

I nodded and felt a little conscious of my body. I wonder if I should go on a diet too. I mean what if I stop being pretty and become fatter. My height isn't encouraging to support fat. I'll totally look very bad and maybe Nate might not find me attractive again.

Those thoughts popped into my head.

"What's on your mind?" Lake peered at me.

"I was wondering how fat I would get very soon" I said to her.

She laughed heartily. "Not everyone gets fat during pregnancy."

" I hope so. I don't really want to go out of shape. Imagine how I'm having beef and salad for breakfast not even lunch."

" well whatever the baby crave for is what you got to eat for now. "

I frowned and looked at my flat tummy.

" So tell me Lily? " Lake asked.

" What? "

" Do you love my brother? " she said with a knowing smile.

" I haven't really thought about my feelings for him. I know we're mates which is strangely amazing, I still don't know how to explain my feeling towards him yet. " I answered honestly and i knew that wasn't the answer she was expecting.

Did Nate send her to ask me I wonder. Was he worried I would leave him? I probably should ask him when he gets back. I finished my food and thanked Lake for her assistance.

"You will get to love him as time goes on. He is quite awesome." Lake said as I went towards the sink to do the dishes. "

I turned back at her and smiled. " Do you have a mate Lake? " I asked her instead.

" No not yet. Though I do have this handsome man I'm crushing on. Don't let my brothers know. You know how they can be "

I gave a knowing smile." Does he know you're crushing on him? "

" Well, not really. I don't want it to be as though I'm the one making a move on him. "

I smiled and nodded. Just same way I didn't want Collins to feel as though I'm the one pushing on him, yet it ended badly.

" Well you guys can go on a date. Then you can know his feelings better. Hope there's no one in his life now? "

I didn't want her to feel the same way I felt whenever Raye was around Collins then.

"No. He seems to be more focused on becoming a good beta for his alpha." She replied as she pulled one chocolate out of the basket and gestured at me.

I nodded for her to take while I dried the plates and wiped the counter. Placing all the cooking condiments back in their places.

"Well as long as you are sure there's no one, you're safe." I said.

"Thank you Lily. I have always wanted a friend to talk to." She said with a smile.

"Not a problem. Do you guys have a garden here? I need to stretch my legs." I said.

"Sure. Go and freshen up. I know what you need." She said with full assurance.

Nathaniel Pov

"How is she?" Roman asked as he threw a punch towards me. I dodged successfully and planned my counter attack.

"Well, she rejected a normal breakfast I prepared for her and opted for steak and salad for breakfast." I almost laughed at the picture of her and the steaks.

Roman paused and that gave me the opportunity to throw him a blow on his chin.

"Ouch. I see what you did there." He said with a chuckle as he touched his jaw.

I smiled. "I was taught to create opportunity and use it ." He smiled and took his stance again.

"The baby is really getting on her so well." He said to me and threw me a punch that I wasn't quick to defend.

"I sent basket of these women's favorite things though I included some medicines that the pack doctor prescribed for her. Lake went to deliver it and spend time with her too. "

Roman nodded and we continued sparring for more than six minutes before we decided to stop and rest.

As we cleaned up and dressed up, two warriors came in.

" Sir Roman and Sir Nathaniel, Alpha Lucien needs your attention." They saluted and left after we nodded to their message.

"Do you think it's Lily's pack again? I swear I don't want to spend one more minute with that Collins or else I'll kill someone today." I said with a bitter response to Roman as I took a long sip from my water.

"Relax. I know how much you want to bury that fool and it's mutual but we need to control our anger. " Roman said to me as we walked out of the changing locker.

"He rejected Lily for Raye. I mean Raye of all people. Who knows what she's up to." I said with disgust.

We have known Raye far since childhood and she was never someone with good intentions and that was what lead to her banishment from the pack.

How she got to stick in Lily's pack is a mystery i would love to solve but for now I have to focus on my beautiful pregnant mate.

"Well leave that to me I'm already on it. The moment I saw her at their packs house, I have been curious." Roman said as we got closer to the pack's house. Roman and Raye were best friends and he really must be curious to know why.

Everyone believes she ended up in a rogue pack but it doesn't seem like it.

" Keep me updated. I need to know. " I said as we stepped into the house and headed to our alpha's office.
