C7 The note

The moment Paul got home, he started shouting Kathryn's name from downstairs. Kath sensed something was wrong and slowly walked downstairs.

"Hi dad. You're home early". She said with a forced smile on her face. Paul bent down to look at her. "Did you have fun today Kath?" He smiled slyly and Kathryn's heart sank instantly. "Y...yes dad. I'm very happy"

She stuttered.

"What else did you do today besides going to the zoo with me?". He asked straightforwardly. "N..nothing. I didn't do anything". She replied almost Immediately.

"Why didn't you invite Mai out to have fun with us? Didn't you miss her?". He asked. Kathryn wasn't expecting this question. "I...I did call her, b..but she said she was busy".

Paul tilted his head, and inched closer to her. Kathryn subconsciously stepped back. "You didn't text her?". He asked. "N...no i didn't dad".

Paul took a deep breath. He pinched his forehead. He grabbed Kathryn by the arm, and pushed her to a corner in the living room. "You're bad at lying my dear daughter". Kathryn was stunned.

"But dad I didn't say anything to Mai". She yelled. "Kneel!" Paul commanded. Tears started rolling down her cheeks. "Dad how could you? I'm your daughter not her".

Paul clenched his fist. "Kneel! You're not allowed to get up until you realize your mistakes and are ready to apologize to Mai". Paul said as he walked away to the balcony.

He instructed Mrs Lee not to feed Kathryn or let her get up until she's realized her mistake.

Paul was angry. He always taught Kathryn good manners and never expected her to be so rude. He had finished three sticks of cigarette before he even realized it.

Kathryn knelt down with tears streaming down her face, as she clenched her fist tightly. "Dad's only treating me like this because of her. I'd definitely get my revenge".

Meanwhile, on the other side, Mai had returned home with Dan but couldn't sleep at all. Dan didn't want to interfere too much, but she reminded him of his little sister, so he got her a glass of warm milk before he left.

When Dan returned home, he found his sister had already locked the door. Which meant she was mad at him for returning home late. He tried calling out to her, but she didn't respond. He figured she must've fallen asleep. Thankfully he had a spare key with him.

This house was all their parents left to them. As he unlocked the door, he saw how much of a mess the whole kitchen was. He frowned slightly, and went upstairs to check on Hazel. When he got to her room, he saw her wearing only a tank top and shorts while shivering from the cold.

He shook his head and gently closed the door behind him. He then helped her change into her pyjamas and covered her with a thick blanket. He left quietly after that. Going back to the kitchen, he wondered how he'd clean up the mess before daytime.

He rolled up his sleeves, connected his airpods and got to work. It was obvious Hazel was trying to cook something, but he just didn't know what it was. While cleaning the countertop, he found a note that said "Sorry for making a mess in the kitchen Dan. I was trying to make your favorite pasta so you can't be mad at me okay? Love you".

He smiled. He never thought Hazel would be so thoughtful. He cleaned up the kitchen quickly and made the pasta for her. Then he put it in the fridge and left a note for her to heat it up when she got hungry since he'd be leaving early in the morning.

Paul had finally calmed down and went back inside. He found Kathryn asleep on the floor. He gently lifted her to take her to her room. He placed her on the bed and planted a kiss on her forehead.

He wanted nothing more than to find his daughter and destroy the man who made Ruby's life a living hell. He knew it'd take long, but he wasn't going to give up easily.

The next morning, Dan quickly dropped Mai off at school, and returned back to the villa. Just before he could get out of the car, he found a piece of paper stuck between the seat. He gently pulled it out.

The paper had an intoxicating sweet fragrance - implying it was from a woman. He opened the folded paper. There was a note on it that said, "I miss you so much Mike. My body misses you too. I can't remember when I last felt your warmth. Please do come home soon. Our son misses you too. Love, Lisa".

Dan was stunned as he read the note. He didn't know what to do, so he quickly called Paul.
